I just learned about Price - there was an article in the news about a community radio station that got an anonymous complaint about playing too many black composer's work, so the station responded by only playing black composers. And reading comments on the internet I learned about a TON of fantastic musicians whose work I had somehow never heard of, Ms. Price included. Thank you for sharing this performance. I absolutely love the internet for making so many things so easy to access and learn about.
Great performance! I am playing the organ with Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale under the direction of Maestro Rob Istad at Segerstrom Hall in May, 2023.
I was at the Segerstrom Hall performance and it was absolutely stunning. I went looking for recordings of the piece and this is the only one I can find online. As nice as this performance is, it was especially exciting to hear the version for orchestra. I am stunned and saddened that I cannot find the orchestral version online, but I feel blessed to have witnessed the Pacific Chorale performance. I'll never forget it.
