@falige You just said it yourself. Progressive is a general term. With general terms come more spesific terms, such as Djent. Without it, It'd be a bit of a mess to sort out. How would you find progressive music of a certain kind without it? You wouldn't, the end.
@falige Progressive doesn't emphasise Rhythm like Djent does. Progressive doesn't emphasise dissonances and tone like Djent does. Progressive doesn't emphasise true-flowing melody like Djent does. Because of these slight differences, It's a seperate genre. If these differences didn't make a new genre; lets just call it Metal and be done with it because that logic eliminates ALL the other genres.

@igotwoodhaha lol, yet you put it in a genre as well....plus djent is an onamanatopoeia, which means that anybody who uses palm mutes for low end open notes is "djenting"...i'm sure you can find a djent tone in a nicklback song lol
@FEARTTX Progressive is just a really general term and by the standards of "djent" that you just described, the band SikTh would be considered a "djent" band. But no, they're considered progressive metal. Djent is a tone. Period.
