This champion reminds me immensely of how Nagasonic Teenage Warhead is designed: utility over damage, but the utility provided is far too niche. These type of champs are super great for specific nodes or champs but are far too lacklustre to have widespread appeal. Why would I rank up Patriot for Photon when a character like Kate Bishop works for not only Photon, but tricky defenders and long-form content too. Champs like this feel predatory for new players who run into tricky defenders and “need” this new champ to counter them.

Nah he seems like he’ll have widespread use. He can keep ramping his damage and he’s better for photon than Kate Also what? You don’t need him. Mantis, Shang, and a bunch of others already take photon easily

If you look carefully you would realize he isn't utility over damage. He has got utility and damage. Also he will be very useful against lots of champs as well....there are many champs that place lots of debuffs.

@@Liaaa900 You do make a good point about damage. If he hits like a truck he could see some widespread use. But you too raised the concern that I mentioned: there are other skill champs that already do what he does better. I just don’t feel he brings enough to the table to warrant him getting ranked over other great skill champs. That being said, I am optimistic and hope he brings a nice twist to the skill meta.

@@nanapotter3461 I kinda get what you’re saying about utility, but the developers kinda shot patriot in the foot for utility. Most of the champs who inflict non damaging debuffs need to hit you to inflict said debuffs which isn’t good for most scenarios. I guess he’d be good to weakness nodes but purify champs can handle those easy already. It’s for those reasons that I’m hard on this champ. I am hoping his damage is good, as I’m nervous he’s going to get pushed to the wayside.

Ridiculous. Make painful defenders. Create the solution. Getting very old and not a good look at all. Top players will lap it up. Many more seeing the company and merry go round for what it is and opting out of the cycle. Why not just make fun champs and sell champs for that reason? RIP the days of Kabam broccoli. Can’t wait for the DLL phase of this game to pass

DLL has made amazing champs. It’s funny to me that people don’t realize that this is always how it’s been and it’s also funny that people don’t learn to fight new defenders. Other than Serpent none of his champs are even hard to fight

AI is using Reversal for months now. Anyway, another overcomplicated for no reason DLL champion, the guy who would have nerfed every God tier champ in the game and hates mutant class. And yes, leave our masteries alone, if you don't have new ideas for character utility, take a long break from your job.

So on defense if we attack him with a basic attack we get blasted back? He seems cool but on attack when you do reversal and dash in and cancel to sp2 it looks so choppy we will see he looks fun to play

I wish there was a trade off if they switch off masteries. Like if Patriot reduces the effectiveness of inequity then maybe he has lower defenses. Just give back something if you take something.

That’s super interesting actually, maybe they could do something similar that they did with kushala where she doesn’t directly benefit from mystic dispersion but gains benefit from having it. They’ve done it a lot before so I don’t see why not for this kind of purpose
