Luke, thanks for doing this. I'm one of the people who asked for some explanation on the vocab, so I really appreciate you breaking it down futher here. Thanks for putting in the time for us, Buddy.
The absolute power became my favorite ball in the bag after I put 1000-Compound on it. It’s perfect for me. I am a two handed high rev bowler with 17 MPH ball speed. Just blends the pattern nicely.
Excellent video! While I realize many variables, do you recommend certain type of cover stock and core strengths for lower rev (I.e. 225-250) lower speed (I.e 14-15) bowlers?
Yeah generally speaking, speed is a bigger factor than rev rate, because if you throw it slow, even if your rev rate is lower, stuff is still going to hook because it has the time to, while if you throw it fast, all the revs in the world aren't going to get the ball to hook if it's going too fast. For example, I think something like a Storm Hyroad would be perfect for you on most regular league conditions, because it's not going to be too strong or early, but still has a good amount of control and punch. It's technically a medium to medium low strength ball, but that kind of stuff, Roto Grips Hustle line, etc., is probably what will look best for you.
I recall you mentioning from time to time that a particular core/cover combination doesn't work because one or the other wants to do something that the other doesn't. Is there something to watch for in general(e.g. a high RG core doesn't work well with a strong cover) or is it just way too specific? BTW, a big thanks for the Brunswick reviews!!!!
It's up and down, usually if you have really strong cores in weaker covers or vice versa that causes problems, but it depends on the lane conditions and the bowler too.
Didn't end up making one because I didn't get the balls in time for it to be worth it, but I can tell you they're not remotely close, the Magic is MUCH stronger than the Power.
I have the original Absolute and love it. Really shapes good for me. During league and on the THS, will the Absolute Power be an overlap or will it compliment the original? I’m kinda rev dominant as I believe as my ball speed at the pins is around 13.5 rpm and my rev rate is around 350.
This one is a complement, this one is familiar, but definitely a step up on strength, a little earlier though of course, but it's still pretty responsive down lane too.
I’m looking to update my ball FINALLY and use a hy road X. Which of these newer balls would you recommend between the Absolute power / Harsh Reality/ Hammer 3 or a phase 2?
@@LukeRosdahl I would say something like the Hy Road. I recently adopted a pin down layout and I don’t use a thumb which has helped a great deal. My ball tends to hook a lot sooner than I want.
Not way off, but this cover is weaker than the P2, but it's also asym while the P2 is sym, so they're in a similar zone in one way and different in another. Sometimes you want a little more core and less cover like the Power when you're on drier lanes and have to get deep, and other times you want a little more cover and less core when you're on a fresher pattern and still playing straighter. Great complements tho.
@@LukeRosdahl Is this a very similar take when comparing the Primal Shock against the Absolute Power? I love my Primal but I’m a lower rev player. Just feels like the torque of an asymmetrical would be a good benefit
