@@Roberto-de8xv what the OP described is a scam. And there are industries that are more vulnerable to scams. Especially ones where government money is involved. Or when the customer is desperate. Like addiction but, in general, businesses perform best when they have an excellent reputation for example, which restaurant would you go to; the one with 1000 5-star reviews. Or the one with 1000 1-star reviews? or which rehab center would you choose for a loved one: one that has been recommended to by multiple people with first hand experience, or another one that has terrible reviews online?

I was in the shuffle of rehabs for years I was paid I had friends paid and lost many friends because of it. The rehab industry is so corrupt it is shocking. Kenny Chapman is the most famous but he wasn’t the only one people made millions by shuffling junkies in and out of rehab to get paid from their insurance . I literately lived in a couple “rehabs” that we just would shoot dope in they were essentially a crack/ flop house . I have 2 years clean in 2 weeks I’m grateful I got out alive but there are many that didn’t . These scumbags are the worst of the worst.

Thank you 🙏. I’d also just like to say there are a lot of great places and great people in recovery that devote their life to helping others. If anyone has a loved one that needs treatment just make sure you do proper vetting to make sure the place is legit. South Florida and Orange County California are the hubs of these crooked places. I have heard that the fbi is cracking down on them and locking all these scumbags up so hopefully in a few years they will All be in prison , but always be safe and check especially if it is your kid and if you aren’t in dire need of a physical detox I recommend going to aa/ na meetings they are free and not the 6 figure cost of these rehabs that ultimately recommend you go to meetings to stay clean. Recovery is possible. Stay safe.

Almost 15 months clean from fentanyl and heroin. Best decision I ever made. The rehab I attended was the cheapest in the area at $450 a day, but can be paid at $30 a month later. One place wanted $6500 up front, and it was $1500 a day. I told them flat out if I still had $6500 I'd still be using. Most just care about money, some truly care about the patients. I am now enrolling in school to be an EMT, then immediately enroll to be a paramedic thereafter. The ultimate goal is to be a tactical paramedic with SWAT, or do it through PMC work. I just have a hunger to be of service to society, and people who need help. Ryan is fighting a fight for people who don't even know they are in a fight for their lives. Much respect to him. It's because of people like him, that us former junkies have a new lease on life and want to contribute.

When I went in to the hospital to quit alcohol a year ago. They had a guy come in and give me a speech. The whole time I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman. I obviously wanted to just get free of the serious withdrawal symptoms so I could go on my way. I looked up their program and saw how much it cost. 70-100k and at a month away. If you have a job or life you can say goodbye to that. They would’ve cost me more than the alcoholism. I hear ya; a lot of people who have severe alcoholism are likely to lose their job, and eventually their life if the alcoholism goes untreated as well. I’ve had patients who didn’t get a hold of their drinking until three or more detox & treatment programs. Several are still sober and doing as well as they can, but unlikely to ever pay off their hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in medical debt. America’s medical system is wildly backwards and corrupt, and the vulnerable are easily preyed upon.

I went to rehab for alcohol. The place was a complete mess. No coordination between providers. Over drugging folks during detox without concern towards their well being such as placing them in areas that they have to walk up stairs while drugged out of their minds. I was promised a single room, instead I was placed with three other ladies (I actually enjoyed them, but the transparency was not there). No consistency in their processes. I had to fight to maintain the same deductible for my insurance. There were multiple breaches of HIPPA during my 21 days. The only thing I liked was my therapist, the folks I met, and kareoke. I learned the happiness I coud have with sobriety, but this was impedded by the way the program was run. So many cancelled meetings. I think I would have benefitted more by just going to a psychologist.

He is telling it like it is! I didn't know the term but, "Patient Brokering" here in Phoenix arizona has multiple false, so called, sober living homes, sprouting up in residential neighborhoods. There were many put into some senior living neighborhoods which are vehemently defended online because people think they are doing good. meanwhile patient brokers are basically kidnapping adults from the streets, taking them away from their family, friends and everyone who loves them. Many natives are held, like hostages really, in these sober homes because the sober home owners want the insurance. meanwhile the local neighbors are angry at anyone who condemns this failing to consider how the residents are really hostages. Similar thing with, and this is disgusting, seniors. OMG, when I worked at a local hospital I had more than one elderly patient who lived in these residential senior homes, (many were russian owned,) where all of their medicare money goes to the home yet, they merely get a room and a daily visual to make sure they are okay. They are lonely, they act like hostages. SO sad. Yes, ABSOLUTE scum bags. Super absurd that many people are unaware of how terrible it is and that this is happening. :(

Wrong. You don’t get high off suboxone. It’s literally just fills the receptors and blocks them. You can’t get high. I was on em for 5 years. It’s why people seek subutex because there’s no blocker in it. Usually given to pregnant women or people with an allergy to naloxone (the blocker). The only high you get from it is feeling normal. Drs gave me pain pills for compression fractures in my back, I had and have 7 what terrible pain it is. Hooked now and 4 years later I'm a rotten mess and trying to get help.on Medicaid and all that Drs gave me such crap help to get off the pills. I had to pay out of my own pocket and I'm on disability from stage 4 bladder cancer prostate, ya. Lots of money for other people. Been 1 yr with out seeing a Dr. I'm so happy to be free from the locking grip of BIG pharma.

If you or your parents have the money, 95% of treatment center owners would love to have you back over and over I mean that could be 30 to 60 grand or more a pop. The few honest owners may suggest trying something or somewhere else after a few failed attempts and a lot of money spent. Yes some sober living homes have a "relapse fee". Knowing that relapse is a common part of the path to getting sober - especially with younger people - they've found a way to make money off that too . To be fair, it is better than getting tossed out on the street and/or needing to find another place.

Alan Carr’s books are great. Reddit has support communities for people trying to quit. AA/NA is free, churches and shelters can plug you in to people. There are a lot of options. If you’re concerned talk to a doctor.

The problem is our education system prevents individuals who want to help from reaching positions that would allow them to help. Many teachers are biased when grading written assignments. Modularizing education is the only way out of this. That is the completion of modules with quizzes after module and exams at specified intervals should be the norm.

I never fully understood if someone is like I'll pay you to go to treatment and I'll buy you you last whatever how is that bad 100 percent of the time I mean I get how it could be a bad cycle but so is addiction in general and every system can be abused I think what happened is some people were making money and other people didn't like it and yes there were problems but 90 percent of treatment is problematic

Rehabs are pretty bad. Its what you make of it tho. I've been though rehab and it does work. Most employees of rehabs are people that went though the program that start of working basically free. I waas working at one 4 years ago in Bay Area CA making only $9/hr. And they get clients to do chores/'free labor" because its "part of the program"
