Some absolutely GREAT sales this week - nice of Nintendo to attack my backlog again like this... What're ya buying!? Also A big thanks to Factor75 for sponsoring today's video. Agreed, i had never played it before or much heard about it as iv been a nintendo only gamer for years and boy was i suprised!! Hands down 1 of my top 3 switch games and its a port aswell!! non the less 1 of my most enjoyed games.
If I could pick one game to play on a desert Island from this list, it would undoubtedly be Neir Automata. Not only does it have a chunky campaign(s) that are perfect in all their Platinum glory, but the story is an epic adventure with a serious look into the nature of life and what it means to be alive. Thanks again, Mark.
You convinced me to buy it again on switch ; P downloading now! I beat it only once when it came out on ps4. So i've forgotten everything already. Can't wait!!!! cheers
I love how Castlevania on the PS1 was a glorious return to sidescrollers in the 3D age...and now there's more side scrollers than you can shake a stick at.
I’m so glad Official Playstation Magazine gave SOTN 5/5 back in the day because I know many people who bought it based on that review. I’m sure a few went on to create the Metroidvanias we love today.
I recently bought my first switch console so there's still definitely people buying them. 😆 I'm really enjoying it so far. Love this channel btw. I'm a sucker for sales. 👍
yesterday I discovered Ys X read a little and today 2/22/24 I've been 5 hours playing YS I, great game. I will play it story based rather than release date
Chained Echoes should be a no brainier for anyone that is a fan of old school RPGs. It will evoke all of those old feelings while also reeling you in with some fantastic gameplay mechanics that make battles far less tedious. Can't recommend it enough. Fantastic game.
Nah mane, we cozy because we playing the games already copped! Don’t need anymore unless something amazing is on sale, Let Us Know. I’m content playing Kirby Return to Dreamland right now. 😂
I do appreciate you guys adding the storage space info for these sales. One day I’ll upgrade my 512gb sd card to a 1tb one but until then that info is pretty useful.
I loved Ys 8 way more than I thought I would. Fast fluid combat and vibrant colors got me to buy it. Not a huge fan of JRPG's, but I highly recommend Ys 8 to anyone who enjoys great action and a decent story as well.
second this! It just has a certain magic to it with the characters, the setting, the plot and of course the music! Amazing game even if you're not usually into jrpgs or action rpgs.
@@randalthor6872 . . You're right about that magic feeling for sure. . Something I look for in games is an engrossing atmosphere and it can be very hit or miss on that never ending "treasure hunt", but you know when find it and, when you do, it reminds you why you started playing games in the first place; to experience an enjoyable reality outside of our own that wouldn't be possible otherwise. . . I forgot to mention the music, but it definitely adds to that as well.
Silent Hope is a hidden gem I love to recommend as a physical. The day one version I got, has a true manual! It FEELS like opening those old school games back in they day.
Absolutely phenomenal sale tbh, so many things on my wishlist! Speaking of, Trinity Trigger is also at what I *think* is its deepest discount ever with 60% off, one I’ve been waiting to grab on sale for a while so FYI in case I’m not the only one!
Why are you hitting me right in the heart with my favorite song in FF7? Seriously. I love that song. Spent so much time in Red's home just because I didn't want the song to end
Cant remember the last time I picked up and opened my Switch. I decided to check on the sale a few days ago, got Ys Viii, and loving it so far. Really enjoyable game and story
You guys can’t get it more right than having my favourite FFVII track playing on the background! I’m trying to scape the Stardew Valley vortex (ai have to play something else lol), so this huge sales video came in a great time!
I must admit that most of my purchases come from sales but when Nier Automata came to the switch i had to pick up a physical copy. Game is an incredible experience never played anything similar in trrms of storytelling
I got crosscode over the holidays and it's a fantastic throwback rpg, though the more modern gameplay elements make it something that doesn't just resemble RPGs of old. I'm looking forward to getting chained echoes afterward!
Now that we're well into February, what game(s) did you Gents manage to finish over the christmas holidays? I worked through IRL so no holidays for me so I only managed to finish Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (base, no dlc). Currently replaying TMNT: Shredder's Revenge to max out all base game characters.
Death's Gambit rules! I bought it a while ago off a SwitchUp recommendation and man, I genuinely think this game is better than Blasphemous or Moonscars
I think it's safe to say I have 400 games in backlog because of your reviews and sale videos. Certainly you guys are my go to channel for switch games.
The background music you've used here, is it from FF7 Cosmo Canyon? Experiencing a Backlog Blowout right now so I have to stop buying games but that won't keep me from devouring SwitchUp content. Cheers Gents!
Nice choice! Great timing for it considering the pending release of FF7: Rebirth. Not sure if it has Cosmo Canyon in it, hopefully they do the original music justice.
"It's set in a world full of ravage & disaster. When is the metroidvania gonna say 'Set in Essex in England, just by Primark'". I dunno, that sounds on point to me! ;)
Sometimes I think I'm getting through at least one game in my backlog then this happens...oh well see you soon octopath traveller 2...that said thanks for the video guys keep up the good work!!
I've been in the ICU unit of a hospital for the past 8 or 9 days(I can't remember all the days, lol). All I have I my phone, and my good ol' switch! I'm miserable, sure. But these videos give me a smile and help me decide what I can buy to distract my mind from the hospital. Thanks a bunch, fellas! ❤💯
Don't think you guys reviewed it, but did you ever play Astral Ascent? I've played a lot of roguelikes on switch (seriously, a lot) and Astral Ascent is the only one to have joined that 1st tier of Hades and Dead Cells since the formers release. Really hope more people check it out. There are a couple free updates and a paid DLC coming out later this year.
If I hadn't bought a Switch last year, I'm not sure I'd still be playing video games much. The wealth of indies and some great Nintendo games had helped me fall back in love with gaming. You've sold me on Griftlands, and will add Surviving the Aftermath to my wishlist. Reminds me of Stronghold on PC from back in the day.
Nier Automata might be the greatest games I have ever played in my life. The older I get, the more I grow to love and appreciate what they created. It is a masterpiece, and I don't think I'll ever see the world the same again because I have played that magnificent work of art.
CrossCode just looks so good. Like the angel of Enix 16-bit games SoulBlazer and Illusion of Gaia descended back down to Earth to bless us all. Nier Automata's first boss is rough, and if you die you have to restart everything (which I did 3 times), but it ended up being an all-time favorite game. Bought the soundtrack, too.
I just started Nier: Automata on my Switch a couple days ago & I’m loving it! Style, story, gameplay, music, charming side characters… it’s all wonderful.
I recently quit playing league of legends and started playing single player games again and it’s been a blast. I got Hades from the last sale and it’s one of my favorite games ever.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you Mark & Glen. My mum suddenly passed away last week and your videos have continued to provide a semblance of much needed structure for me amidst the surreal & heartbreaking times myself and my family & friends are going through. Got a hefty backlog lined up for the months ahead, for escapism purposes. With Tomb Raider I-III purchased on Switch (struggled as a kid with the tank controls back in the 90s, but will try again), Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth preordered and even tempted to dip my toe and finally see what Persona 5 Royal is all about, as I think its 50% off on the eshop, and even cheaper physically with The Game Collection. Keep up the amazing work lads! 👍
Hey man, I just wanted to say I’m super sorry for your loss, I know exactly how you feel. I lost my Mom very suddenly back in April 2021, exactly one day after my daughter’s birthday. Super shocking and saddening, as of today I still can’t believe it, but I wanted to let you know that as time goes on the pain will decrease, you’ll truly never get over it, but in time you’ll learn to keep moving forward. Just know your mom is with you within your heart and through the memories you have cherished over the years. I hope my comment brings you some type of peace and comfort, sending you a brotherly hug. ❤ 🤗
Amazing and super useful video as always, thanks. Just to be helpful, some more great games on sale: first party ones (Donkey Kong tropical freeze and Kirby and the forgotten land, 33% off); Baten Kaitos I&II (30% off); Cocoon (30% off); Might and Magic Clash of Heroes (20% off).
Nier Automata is the only game that I’ve ever played that’s made me cry, literally. Not to mention, my initial play through was during the pandemic and I was going through a divorce, HEAVY time in my life, but for fawks sake that game was the absolute light within the darkness I was personally facing. 10/10 game, literal Masterpiece.
Being in my 30s I've never ever used a link or discount code from RU-vid, and I'm gonna bite the bullet and use your switchup offer, you guys are the best.
VERY infrequent commenter but been subscribed to you guys from near enough (if not actually!) day one, back when Switch-dedicated channels were few and far between. I would join the Discord if I could remember my login and enjoyed communicating with strangers more than I do. ;D Anyway, just wanted to say that I absolutely love this little console - easily the GOAT in my book, and I've been fortunate enough to work on about 40 Switch titles by now I'd say, porting stuff over here and there and even a couple of our own games ported from PS3/Vita, Back to the point! Just wanted to let you know that I love these sale videos - they're just so, so useful. Thanks so much SwitchUp for everything you do - look forward to your vids every week and never comment so thought I would today. Thanks guys - you're the best. Hope everyone's having a good day - seeeeeee ya! ^^
There are so many great and incredible games in this sales video. I will pick up Chained Echoes for sure, I didn't have it yet. This Switch sales is a love letter to RPG lovers.
I've been eyeing No Man's Sky for weeks now, but I'm having trouble pulling the trigger because my backlog is so deep right now. Might do it anyway since it's at its all-time low though.
Do it. Even though it sometimes struggles on Switch it’s such an amazing game and works really well now. Played it on every platform including my Switch Lite and it’s worth every penny.
The thing I will always remember about Ys VIII is that I thought it was just ok to begin with, then I got to the end of Chapter 2 and a certain thing happened with one of the characters, and from that point on it grabbed me and never let go. Didn't want it to end. I absolutely love IX, too. I actually like it more in some ways, but the Switch version wasn't good (I played it on PC in the end). They are both among my all-time favourites, as is NieR:Automata. Can't wait for Nordics later this year.
I always get the feels from my childhood when i hear that cosmo canyon music playing... Man FF7 got me into jrpgs and ten I proceeded to buy everything jrpg square soft etc I could get on for my psx.
Yeah, Surviving the Aftermath really caught my eye. It doesn't go on-sale often and it's by far the biggest discount the game has had. I've tried a few strategy-'builder' titles on Switch but not quite connected with one yet so likely to take the plunge ... though I have a week to decide (No Man's Sky is always calling out to me, lol).
I've been gaming on my new laptop for the past month and I swear you guys are going to be the ones to drag me back to the switch. Not that that's a bad thing. 😂
I’ve wanted to play the Xenoblade games for years. I own one on Wii but never ended up playing it. Now that we got a Switch for Xmas I’m on the hunt for all three!
Cross Code and Chained Echoes are two of the best games on Switch. And I’ve gotta pick up Nier this time. Only got 20-odd games left in my backlog (thanks gents 😂).
It makes me very happy to see Chained Echoes and a Nier game get coverage. Both are easy buys! Old skool vibes with Chained Echoes with a wonderful modern feeling and music and Nier is one of the greatest games of all time. Absolutely thrilled at the thought of people experiencing these for the first time.
Imma bit late to the party on this one but worth mentioning Marvelous (team behind Silent Hope) have a sale on all their games. Another great title from them is Trinity Trigger!!
Deaths Gambit looks like so much fun and worthwhile to wind down to after a hard days work, thank you for having it in your video, I never knew about it , keep up the great work !
I was on the fence for crosscode I wasn’t too sure what the gameplay was like but I put a lot of stock in the reference you guys put out so that my choice for the week……btw one of the most stressful part of waiting for these videos if I will see a game that has interested me as one of the sale prices then jump for joy when you say it’s like 75% off.
Really need Silent Hope to drop in price here in the US. I was really hoping for more references to Rune Factory and Story of Seasons with that game, but it still looks pretty fun. I actually picked up Hades and Kataria Fables since they were both at a great price! Definitly recommend CrossCode, such a gem of a game.
My backlog is already filled! Can't keep up with all of these new games coming out lol. But I'm def going to have to get Deaths Gambit! Love the art style!
