I know many people are frustrated. I am, too. Anyone else would have been jailed long ago. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that Judge Merchan is being VERY smart. He’s creating this record for the appeals court, showing that he went to the limit and beyond for this defendant.

I agree with you. No one is more sick of saying this than Judge Merchan. I've seen defendants that were picked up for minor offenses locked in holding pens because of the court case load. Still, Merchan wants to make 100% clear to the American public that he has given Trump every possible chance, beyond what others would be given, to comply. He wants to show that Trump cannot control himself even when required by law. He wants to get this trial over. Let the testimony flow. He is a good judge. I've seen sloppy judges. This is about more than the country club nature of the legal system. As for the interview, awesome.

We have to remember why this gag order was placed on Trump. The safty of many people. The judge and prosecutor has a responsibility for the safty of those people. I believe both the judge and prosecutor need to remind everyone of their responsibility.

He's not going to go to jail for an hour, if he goes. Don't be silly. It takes an hour just to go through the booking process. He'd be there at least overnight. This "he wants to go" narrative is silly as well. Good to hear Preet knock it down. I've been to jail. It's not pleasant. He doesn't want to go.

Why aren't the prosecutors arguing for a fine commesurate with each offense for a defendent who claims to be rich? Why not increase the fines for threats/intimidation of judges and witnesses to $500,000 a time, and impose a 3 strikes and that's jail order?
