Abstract Algebra 63: Orders of elements in direct product groups
Abstract: We explain how you can quickly find the order of an element in a direct product group. As a consequence, we explain why the direct product of two cyclic groups is cyclic if and only if the orders of the two groups are relatively prime. This will be important for the fundamental theorem of finite abelian groups, in our next two videos.
