(My birthday!)
Verse before the Gospel Jn 3:16
God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son;
so that everyone who believes in him might have eternal life.

[The first time I sang in front of the congregation was actually on 2/28/21 when Fr. Edward Duhon gave an encouraging homily.]

5pm Sunday Mass
Extraction from Fr. Duhon's homily:
There is another form of revelation of who Jesus is. Through his humanity. Walking, teaching and healing.
Lent is an incredible time to bring our temptations before the Lord. So instead of giving in we give them to God. This time, as has most of the past year, when the our idols come out. So as these things are exposed, we have a chance to shed things we honestly don't need. Things that hold us away from being in full communion with Jesus, with out neighbors. We are here to not only observe but crush our idols for good. To be made new as lighter, happier, more devoted servants to God.
Jesus's humanity showed his actual divinity. His life of sacrifice, a revelation of divinity, is our example to follow on the narrow path to heaven. How do we receive our inheritance of union in heaven with our Father if we do not crush our idols? Let us become disciplined to, expose our idols, destroy what holds us back and make the same journey through the desert of Lent to see joy as people changed. Made new. Transfigured.

Extraction from Fr. Schumacher's homily:
Jesus never held back from loving and teaching in radical and dynamic ways. He chose to love fiercely and preach to convert the hearts of his followers. He left us a church, gave us teachings to follow. Cultivating and growing these things protects us from a wretched death. So instead of falling prey to jealousy like Joseph's brothers we need to always seek reconciliation. Love when it hurts. This sacrificial love is a direct imitation of Jesus and we must align our entire selves to him, even in our imperfection. So how fortunate we are to be filled with supernatural grace through the eucharist. Be ready as an open vessel to surrender and receive God's mercy. Let's keep tending his vineyard so he has something amazing and sown with love to collect.
