Hi Jian, I'm from Gippsland in Melbourne and just came across your RU-vid shows which Ifind so interesting. I wanted to know where you get all these wonderful and different types of fruit trees from. I'm a member of The Diggers Club and don't think I've seen these varieties in their catalogues. Keep up the good work.

I would love to see a more zoomed out picture of your garden if possible so I can get more of an idea of the planting density😊. Hey I literally just discovered your channel and have been binge watching over the past 2 days. What a stunningly gorgeous garden you have and rammed with productivity. I’m sure you are always having something to eat through the year. Just wondered if you had a video with an aerial view of your property to give and idea of the layout of your various systems? For example how does your food forest relate, geographically with your vege beds? Is it in the front yard whilst the veg and chooks are out back. How big and area is the garden all in? Thanks

Thanks very much Kho. Many years of learning, taking permaculture courses, attending open gardens, volunteering for three gardening organisations, and borrowing every book in the library. When I get focused on things I tend to get obsessed 😂Fortunately I can now share my knowledge with all of you! 💚

Love your videos - I'm in Austin, TX so I'm close to your climate - probably a little more temperature variation and draught issues, but great to see a full on food forest in a similar climate. We have an over abundance of Cape Gooseberries here as well (we call them Tomatillos - which I think is the same thing) and they are amazing in the heat - bullet proof and draught tolerant which is perfect for here. We're working on flushing out the rest - fruit trees, berries, etc. We're going through, yet another, draught, so great to watch your videos to keep the inspiration going. Keep it up.

Your food forest is amazing, ours is only about 2 years old, same city Melbourne. But yours is so grown in. We have about 5 hybrids about to get a 6th and I am going to steal that strawberry grape lol. Mighy get one on monday. Oh is that Siberian white strawberry the same as a white alpine? If not where did you get it? This is what I get following the rabbit hole, we were looking at strawberry guava and now watched a few vids. Some things you might be interested in. That snow apple, the original name was snow whites apple (in French but don't know the French words) it is the apple that is given to snow white, I have one myself. Also if you like venegrated plants. Citrus men do a version that's a eureka lemon that's pink inside.

I love seeing the different tours from your garden! Where do you get the many interesting varieties from, especially the strawberry grape? My local nurseries tend to stock the standard varieties.

Thanks so much Lisa! The Strawberry grape we purchased from a local gardener during an open garden - very much a backyard variety and hasn't bee commercialised. Most of the other interesting varieties we purchase from our local speciality nursery - we're fortunate in Melbourne to have some wonderful nurseries that stock unusual edibles. Depending on where you're located you should be able to order them from online suppliers like Daleys 💚

WOW, I am so glad I found your channel! I'm going to enjoy catching up on your videos! I'm completely out of space in our fruit n veg garden in the Mornington area! Trying to grow many tropicals. Do you use the green babaco as a papaya substitute in soups?

Thanks so much, glad to have met another Victorian gardener interested in subtropical fruits! Our backyard is completely out of space too, so many trees still in pots with nowhere to go 😂Our dream to have a farm down the coast one day and finally settle these trees. We've used the green babaco in curries before and it is quite similar to green papaya, although they are so good ripe it seems like a waste to eat green. The kids are addicted to it and they ripen up easily on the bench so we usually enjoy as a delicious juicy fruit 💚

Thanks so much Alekhya! We are in the inner-easter suburbs of Melbourne :) We bought the pluot from Bulleen art and garden, but I've also seen them at Bunnings from time-to-time. It's under the "Flemings" brand. Cheers 💚

Babaco looking excellent. Just a heads up that banana passionfruit is a hugely invasive weed all over NZ in similar climates to yours. Vanilla passionfruit is more tolerant of cooler climates than most passiflora and tastes better than banana passionfruit, so that's an option to at least try

Thank you! I had heard that it can be weedy in certain parts of Australia. I've never come across it growing wild in Victoria, but wouldn't be surprised as it's so vigorous. Thank you for the tip. I can't seem to source any vanilla passionfruit in Australia... would be very keen to try 💚

Thank you for sharing, I didn't realise we can buy pluort and aprium in Melboune, I bought plumcot and planted for the first year Ii would think you can remove pine trees to give some more room for more fruit trees.

Thank you! Yes we have access to some great unusual varieties in Melbourne. You can definitely remove ornamental trees to make more room for fruit trees - we had to do a lot of this to create our foodforest 💚

Thanks very much Catherine! Mulch is a non-negotiable for protecting our soil structure, microbes and conserving soil moisture & reducing how much we need to water. It has definitely boosted our production 💚

Thank you we cram a lot in as this is slightly less than half of the fruit varieties we have 😂! I will show the other half in another video as there's too many to fit in. Hi Griz, good news or bad, Babaco doesn't produce any seed at all. It's an entirely seedless fruit so there's no pesky seeds when eating. This does mean you can only purchase plants and it can only be grown from cuttings. You'll be able to find them at our favourite nursery in Melbourne, Bulleen Art & Garden. Cheers

Do you know why they're unwell? Many issues start with the soil so I would work on that and build lots of organic matter and biodiverse life in your soil. If it's an issue with leaf disease or fungus then think about pruning and spacing your trees further apart 💚
