The Bible says this in proverbs. Proverbs 12:25 “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.” As a Christian, I do not support the LGBTQ+ community, it I do not hate any member. Nor do I care what you chose to do with your life. But I do not comment anyone who hates people in any way. If anything, hate the actions not the person. I hope God blesses you and Jo Cat in the video as you both have blessed me. My favorite was his video on being a DM

The problem with the lgbtq community is you have the insane people like Jeffries, who may be a pedo, and they forget people like gaysagainstgroomers. The cancelation of jocat is super lame. We should honestly make an effort to make judgments based on the individuals not of groups. For example in this video he made a blank negative statement of parents, maybe based on observations or fact, but that will likely just alienate parents or people that haven't had that experience. Not hating just a statement that we should always consider what prejudices we hold too.

That 'I like girls' video always was my go-to for giving to my friends who felt bad about their self image. I saw it as an uplifting thing, empowering. It reminded me, and my friends, that no matter how we're built, we're still girls and should be confident with what we have. Jocat's gender non-conformity is a sign of strength, and is inspiring to me. It's an absolute shame that he feels he has to leave due to a bunch of petty, small-minded, cruel people. It's something else entirely that people are DOXXING someone because of them not agreeing with how he is. That shit should never be okay.

I had to use a text to speech app to get reading done for my course work and I was continuously rewinding it bc I had heard the past 30 seconds but hadn't HEARD the past 30 or so seconds. When you're trying to get from day to day like that EVERYTHING positive matters. @@cmdAHYT Well, theres a lot of nuance to this which has been observed. Fear breeds defensive hostility, projection often manifests as open hostility, The problem comes in with how you define evil, as that as a term has Many varied interpretations. and is often a matter of degree. to borrow the relevant subject matter, DnD basically divides Evil and Good alignments by the yardstick of selfish vs selfless. a giver vs a taker, etc. As psychopaths and sociopaths often are incapable of caring about others, psychopaths often learn to 'fake it' enough to build relationships but they are built and maintained as a means to an end, rather than as an end unto itself. Nature has to veer towards selfishness, Noones gonna feed the tiger, except that tiger, so it hunts mercilessly to sate its needs. and to keep its skills sharp cats, big and small, are known to basically torment small creatures, in rather cruel displays. However its fair to say it isnt true cruelty as the cat doesnt enjoy the suffering it inflicts, it enjoys the game and is merely oblivious to the suffering. Similarly, cruelty is often beaten into animals, true maliciousness, making the animal angry and violent. and People react the same way, kids raised poorly by neglectful parents or even abusive ones, or those who are abused especially over a long period, tend to grow into spiteful, wrathful, cruel little shits, because when the world has kicked you, the only way to feel like you have any power, any control over your life is to kick back, and then kicking back becomes kicking first, and unfortunately, the numbers show that a *lot* of people are subject to some form of abuse and cruelty during their formative years and do not get proper treatment for it. So, to summarize, theres a lot of reasons why this kind of behaviour can be 'a corruption' of what was once a decent person. However, its also believed that a primary element that leads to psychopathy and sociopathy is literally genetic, that theres literally something in their brains wiring that prevents forming the bonds of empathy that a social species relies upon, and are thus literally hard-wired to only view other people as potential assets or threats. ofcourse the purpose of dehumanizing a target with slurs, and the like is also expressly there to Dehumanize a target, to make them easier to target.
@Xeonort
@Xeonort 5 месяцев назад
@@cmdAHYT Multitude of reasons. There's being terminally online in toxic community echo chambers, listening to bigoted machismo talking heads, internalizing homophobia/transphobia due to being surrounded by anti-LGBT people in their family and friend groups thus making their true feelings "bad", heavy investment into far-right conservative politics, etc. In some way, they've been conditioned by the environments they inhabit, and the multitude of ignorance and lies they're fed, to be hostile to anything and anyone who doesn't fit the mold in their head of what a "real man/woman" looks/acts like. The sad thing is, all it takes is a simple and respectful conversation with someone on the other side to plant the seeds of deprogramming their mindset from hateful to accepting that others are different and it's okay. Daryl Davis has proven dozens of times that it's possible to change the mind of bigoted hateful people with respectful conversation. If you don't know who that is, he's a black man who has sat down and talked with KKK members, many of them high ranking, and eventually convinced them to leave and denounce the KKK, around 60 left directly because of him and 200+ indirectly. Thanks for the heads-up; it was a weird way of getting that bad news (JoCat has only made a community post about it, but youtube never sends notifications for those) but it's good to know. It's insane he was getting harassed because of a song parody, and now we all lose because of it. Whatever gender identity or sexual orientation he has, that's definitely not an excuse to harass anyone. I don't even get why anyone would care about that: he's a great content creator, and one of the most interesting D&D players/DMs I've ever seen (his goblin bard Gelnek - on CauseImDanJones's Dan Jones & Dragons campaign - is always lifting up everyone else). You're spot on about him not having to apologize (and the BS logical fallacies abusers use to dehumanize their targets, like false associations), which just makes this situation even sadder. It's not that he's "not cut out for this" (he's already proven otherwise), but that the people abusing him are not cut out to live in society. I hope this situation gets reverted eventually, but if it doesn't I can't blame Jo for prioritizing his and his own family's safety and mental health.

Same goes for the content creators in this sector. I gotta admit about JoCat, i find it weird for a dude to draw himself so feminine. But his content is good, and i love his crap guide videos, and i really don't understand why anybody would send someone like him death threats. It takes a special kind of idiot to resort to stuff so grotesque and inapropriate..

Jocat was one the main reasons I came back to D&D after nearly 30 years. He was and definitely still is a wonderfully funny, massively talented creator and man, he knew his stuff! I wish I’d told him how many times he’d made me and my friends and family laugh.

I don‘t know if will Jocat ever see this, but I just wanted to thank him. His CrapGuide videos gave me the knowledge and courage I needed to finally form a DnD group of my own. On a even more personal note: I am a very effeminate guy, I have really long curly golden blonde hair have a rather high voice and never liked what the other boys liked. Before my puberty, my parents liked to answer the question: Which child in this group is your son? Like this: Look for the most beautiful girl, that‘s our son. I even occasionally wore dresses. That led to me being bullied in middle school, but I got lucky and had friends who helped me through. But when I stumbled upon Jocat‘s channel I felt a sense of kinship, because I found someone that seemed so similar to me. So if you‘re reading this: Thank you, and I wish you the very best.

I'd like to take a moment and thank you for speaking on abuse, its a matter that isn't discussed enough in the world and that little to nothing is done to truly prevent in some situations. as someone that has been abused for most of my life some of the things you spoke about really resonated with me and you make a lot of great points. I hate that this is how i found out about the JoCat situation. When i was just starting to get into dnd the "crap guide to x" series was what really hooked me in and opened up a level of creativity in me i thought was long lost to growing into adulthood. I know i'm just text on a pc/laptop/mobile device to you reading this but i seriously appreciate your work here, and several other broken build videos you do( its what got me into watching this channel in the first place) and i promise i'm not just saying that because you said to say nice things in the video.

This is truly horrible and actually hurts to hear this. I LOVED the whole Crap Guides videos and even the one for Magic the Gathering (as I collect that and have for 25 years). I think haters and those with true malice in them feel so powerful, is due to the very little consequences they face. They mainly get away with all the BS they put others through. I remember see that he made the I Like Girls video, but never watched it. I didn't know that it was made due to what he was facing. I am so deeply sorry for the things creators face when they just want others to laugh and smile and have some happiness for a bit.

I can personally talk from experience about how abuse can fuck with you. Even years later I still have massive trust issues. I still second guess everything I do out of fear I might upset someone in some way. I just learned the best way to exist was just to sit still, stay quiet, and hope for the best. Despite being surrounded by people, I felt so alone and isolated. If I removed myself from the situation to breath and clear my head, It was always 'Are you done with your tantrum, yet?' or 'You're just doing it to get my attention'. The smart thing to do was to just leave and never come back, but i just got it in my head that i'd be in the same boat if I tried and I'd rather stick with the people I already know.

For some reason this video spoke miles to me. As someone who's presently going though a lot of depression and suicidal thoughts. I had been extremely abusive 7-8 years ago to my family whilst in middle and early high school. Since then, I'd tried my best to make amends. I thought I did. I made friends in High School that I considered the ultimate factor of my self worth. Considering I wasn't very academic or athletic or even good at working a job, it was hard not to. But recently this year my family decided to share my abusive nature from those years ago with those friends. And like a switch they all left me to support those I had abused in the past. My therapist said that I wasn't an abuser anymore, but I certainly am being abused. I enjoyed every moment of this video. Even if it was primarily about the messed up nature of how JoCat was treated (and I loved his videos, especially I like girls), it also spoke to my situation. And for a moment I felt like I was being heard as well. As someone who has little to no one to rely on right now, this video really helps. Hope JoCat finds peace, as with anyone who's going through abuse.

3:26 Plot Twist: even if you _happen_ to perfectly conform to their total list of BS, they will simply expand the list specifically in a way you _don't_ conform to it just to create the unnecessary conflict they crave. Someone who _wants_ to find something to complain about _will_ find something to complain about, even if they have to make it up. Don't give these people any attention or justification. When someone critiques you, you can use that promt to assess yourself and see if that critique is valid or if you have done anything wrong. If you haven't, then they're just false reporting. Pay them no mind. And JoCat, if you see this, you're awesome. I can damn near guarantee you've had exclusively positive impacts on people. Anyone who _claims_ you hurt them is lying; they negatively impact themselves and thrust the blame for their unhappiness on others. You're awesome, man. You will always have the respect and support of those that matter.

fame rarely ends up well, Very VERY rarely. even Keanu who people often regard as nearly a living saint, Suffered for his fame, and suffered Before his fame too. Most of the time the famous ones either get help, or get perspective, to deal with the negativity, or they end up spiralling out a bit. other times, fame leads to ego, which invariably leads to the ego bubble bursting and a whole messy episode there. Even RDJ, before stepping into the Iron suit had serious problems with substance abuse and I believe nearly died before he had an epiphany that helped him clean his shit up, and sure he wears fame well Now, but he didnt used to. Fame is a dangerous thing, and should never be what anyone aspires to, its one thing to aspire to be good enough at something to earn renown, and fame, but wishing for fame itself is like wishing for power, the people who seek it are seldom those who are worthy of it.

I don't underatand the people blaming wokeness, like: Yeah! Everyone knows Twitter is ONLY woke people and those are the bullies, that's the problem this gender noncconforming guy has, too many woke people on Twitter, no Conservatives, Alpha Males or anything to reign it in. Such wokescolds as the men who called him gay/pathetic, called him girly, implied he was so in the closet he felt the need to go out of his way to appear straight calling the song "look how straight I am", told him he loves women like a lesbian (not complimenting him but telling that's queer and weird) all the while having alpha male/confederate flag bullshit in their pfps. Those are wokescolds? They're woke is the problem? Because everyone knows that woke people loooooove this stuff, those wokescolds, they loooove homophobia and totally don't fight against these kinds of bullying heteronormativity at all, they love that stuff especially against a guy so pro LGBT, hmm sooooo woke... So LGBT... Like the ones who called DnD Shorts a pedophile for retweeting gay support thinking he is gay. And all the others calling gay people groomers or pedophiles, they're not homophobic or Conservative/Religious people against a soft boy like Jocat for supporting gay rights (and even DnD Shorts, who is not as soft), they're wokescolds! That solves what woke means, apparently. So the problem is they're too woke apparently, they'd be WAY less disgusted by his androgeny if they were LESS woke you guys seem to think...

“You aren’t born feeling weak, that’s something the world shoves down your throat”. This really resonated with me, while I am saddened that it had to be said in the context of this video because JoCat sounds so hurt. No one deserves that, and I wish that on no one. However, I am a silver lining DV and CSA survivor, and finding the good, dark humour etc is how I keep going. With that, and only that context for my next statement in mind I want to be very clear, I am grateful to have heard the aforementioned line I quoted. ❤so thank you for sharing your thoughts, your insight, and your incredible indomitable spirit. It is important. What is happening to JoCat, and other vulnerable communities and creators, it’s important and it matters. Those voices and stories matter, and you’re right in that abuse makes you feel like you are small. You feel quiet if not silent, it makes you feel insignificant that should you speak up anyway, it would be at best ignored and at worst used against you to further victimise you. But our voices, our stories, by sharing them we take back our volume, our power, our height. We are not small. They are small for their treatment and that makes me sad for them. That makes me so sad for them because only small, discontent and unhappy people do this to people. It isn’t the victims fault you didn’t deserve it and the thing that seemed to trigger it, didn’t. If it hadn’t been that, it would have been something else, because this was never about the victim and everything to do with the abuser. You’re worthy, valid and loved ❤

That said, thank you for making such a heartfelt video about him and what he, and you, have been through. Please know, it was JoCat lead me to your channel, and you've brought me as much joy since that time too; I really appreciate the work you've done here and I know it can't be easy, so thank you. I hope you have a good break and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us in the new year.

I hope Jocat can take the time to collect and recenter, as much time as he needs. He brings so much good and positivity into the world, and deserves the same.

This incident didn't happen within the community, it happened outside of the community in an entirely different context that leaves the community absent from the situation; The best thing to do is move on and pray the Twitter mobs and cancel culture perpetrators ignore DnD Shorts and anyone else that makes videos about this incident, that's really all anyone can do...

I have enjoyed both your and JoCat's content. I will miss Jo's content, but my desire to see them succeed and be happy is greater than my own selfish desire for more videos.

Love this video, love the message of support and strength, and I also live the idea that there's a network of dnd content creators supporting each other and backing each other up when they need it.

When you started this video, I almost broke into tears, assuming the worst. As much as I wish for JoCat to continue making content I enjoy, I am genuinely more relieved that my worst assumption was wrong. Whatever they are doing away from RU-vid, I hope they are happy doing it.

This is a fantastic statement of support. It's exactly what needs to be said about abuse. The abusers are the problem. They will always get away with it while we allow them to have anonymity. If there was a way for abusive users to be then publicly named and shamed, the vast majority of abusers would pull their head in, because what they can't take is their own medicine being delivered back. Dude, you're a legend. I'm very small time creator and mainly work from a charity point of view. My son and I love watching your videos. I backed your KS to the hilt. There is no way I could do what you do. JoCat is a legend. His crap guide is the best guide! At our gaming table we have watched the whole thing. It is fantastic and light hearted way to find out about each class. When new players are starting out, my son and I (both of us are DMs) suggest watching the guide. I'm heading to his channel next to post a similar message of support to him. Thank you for this video. Very different, yes, but speaks volumes of the sort of person you are. I would cross a busy street just to shake your hand. (Plus, your beard is awesome) Cheers, Anthony

"Don't cut abusers slack, thats what they want. As soon as you doubt yourself because of them, they start winning." -my mother talking about abuse. I wrote this because I couldn't find other words about this. I hope Jocat gets well, no matter if he stops creating content or not.

Does that apply to the abuse Jocat defended against Pikamee and Silvervale?

@@asideofsalt.6645 Especially. Because the two were affected by it, the abusers won. I just hope jocat now learned how bad abuse is.

@@yamato9753 actually, jocat was against the abuse that those two faced, it's just that Pikamee fans scapegoated him because she stopped streaming afterwards. The harrassment wasn't even why she stopped streaming, she was planning on stopping anyway.

Saying “She was going to quit anyway” doesn’t make her harassment okay. JoCat had implied that Pikamees harassment for wanting to play Harry Potter doesn’t matter in comparison to what trans go through. That didn’t sit well with some people, that’s why he’s hated by some people.

I also absolutely love Jocats videos and have shared their videos aswell. I think you are a great amazing person, and you deserve happiness and a break whenever you need it (Which I hope you are enjoying!) I look forward to whatever you bring when you come back, as long as it is something you want to do :)

I'm glad you brought up the androgynous art and Jocat's presentation of himself. I've always been so impressed by how..... himself he is, if that makes sense. I would love a sprinkle of his strength, like 10% of that and I would be in a much better place in life. And now that strong person is being run off the internet and can't continue to bring joy to other people's lives anymore. Buncha bastards.

I never realized he was having such a hard time. I'm going to go over to his channel and send him my love. Let's give him a send off worth remembering. He may return, or he may go on to bigger and better things, but to me, his work, his voice, and his excitement will remain imprinted in us. It's never goodbye. It's "Until we meet again."

Damn, Jo cat is one of my favorite creators too. I haven't been able to watch him lately cause I was taking a small DND break (watched too many campaigns at once to quickly) and to find this really sucks. If you have contact with him shorts, I want you to make a montage, a reel, or just copy paste to a Google docs all the positive comments he gets from this video. As he said himself, a random compliment on the Internet may not mean much, but maybe a crap ton will at least make him feel that it wasn't all negativity around him

This is so shocking to me, i always loved the videos he made. His crap guide to dnd series was one of the things that brought me into the DnD community and it is heartbreaking how such an incredible person like jocat gets broken by a bunch of loser. I hope he will get well and i wish him only the best
