It's clear that he was meant to be a playable character for more than just an appearance in the Prologue and the 2nd Metal Face battle. Especially since he had voicelines calling both Melia and Riki. I wonder what made the developers change their minds. Although I have an idea...

@@krissjames7276 I doubt we would've missed Dunban. He has many more voicelines than Dickson. Also while Dickson does have some voicelines of himself calling Melia and Riki, he has only a couple of them, whereas the other have multiple, for different occasions of calling them (encouraging, congratulating, cry of despair when they're KOd, etc..) so it seems that the idea of Parry Member Dickson was scrapped pretty early on since he doesn't even have many combat arts. However, not early enough for them not asking the VA for lines referencing some later characters
@@Emboarbof I think Dickson has lines recorded to like that to make the voice actor be surprised at major story events. I recall Adam Howden saying he had the script hidden by the localization team to make Shulk's reaction to major twists more authentic. It wouldn't be a surprise if these Dickson lines were recorded with the same intention as Shulk's.
I could've just use Sweet Dream on Sothe, granting him +3 Res and thus allowing him to live the Cleric's attack. But, that wouldn't have been as hype, now. Am I right?

What is the criteria for these characters to match their Xenoblade counterpart? Because I personally couldn't think of any relation between Sothe and Shulk or Peony and Sharla. Well, I could see a few similarities between Jagen and Dickson at least.
I have an Idea! Whenever they have a weapon-triangle disadvantage, no matter how much damage they do, play the not very effective sound. Neither advantage or disadvantage (like colorless) should be the neutral hit sound. Weapon triangle or weapon advantage (like effective against) Should play the super effective sound.

yeah 50 damage Glacies is fun Also 38 Atk bonus is because Broadleaf Fan grants bonus to Atk = sum of penalties on foe during combat. Since they suffered Atk/Spd-7 from Jagen's sabotage, and Def/Res-7 from the Broadleaf Fan itself... that alone tallies to +28 Atk. Add in Brazen Atk/Spd for another +7, and Flower of joy for a +3 yet. lol Also Area of Effect specials spammers are fun. Special Spiral really enable that kind of unit. I'm considering using Flashing Blade 4 as A slot and Life and Death 3 as a seal instead... should be good!

No, he's a party member during the Prologue and the 2nd Metal Face battle, but outside of that, he isn't. These voicelines are mostly unused. It seems that he was planned as a playable character early on.
