Stoked as hell for Myrkul, I had an Abzan enchantress deck running Reyhan/Keleth in the command zone just for colors. Super looking forward to tweaking the deck now that it has a commander that actually cares about enchantments.
I think this is one of the best decks to put Elish Norn in, a -2/-2 across the board can act like stax against tokens, weak commanders, and a bunch of other strategies.
If you want another way to make them into enchantments, you can manifest them (say using scroll of fate) and then when they die, Myrkul copies the card as it exists in the graveyard. This can also cheat the mana costs.
@@AnonymousAnonymous-ht4cm Just so you both know, the enchantment token versions come into play with no loyalty counters. But they also cannot be attacked. So plan on using planeswalkers with good static and + abilities, and not ones with good ultimates.
Speaking of getting extra work from spore frog, there is the white version of him called Kami of False Hope. You can run him as well in this to double up on your fogging.
You can't really abuse wall of roots there because you can only activate it once each turn. devoted druid, as an enchantment, gives you unlimited green mana.
Step 1 have. Have mana dorks die and become enchantments Step 2. Second harvest for more mana dork tokens Step 3. Eternal witness Step 4 see. See Step 2 Step 5. Kill eternal witness to make enchantment token. Step 6. Get and play second harvest. Step 7. Infinite mana, infinite enchantments etbs, ebonite tokens, infinite magecraft, infinite grave recursion
i like the deck a lot. i intend to legend-rule him with things like myriad oder another copy effect so that Myrkul itself will become an enchantment. also every form of heroic intervention should be at hand another thing i'm thinking about with this deck is to exclude/shut down all ETB effects with torpor orb and the creature versions of it.. cards like bane of progress or dockside extortionist are super scary against him
I have been brewing for this guy since he was spoiled. I am honestly shocked you didnt try luxior with a few planeswalkers in this deck list to have many enchantment planeswalkers thanks to the Lord of Bones
@@gmkforever9950 Careful though, the tokens are not planeswalkers, so they do not come into play with loyalty counters (that's part of a planeswalker type rules), so pick ones with good static and + abilities.
probably my favorite trick with this guy is targeting him with your own mirrage mirror to legend rule get a token copy of them honestly this guy is just plain silly and i love it
@@facelessgames94 well technically you would still only have 1 as when the token came in legend rule would strike again but the fact that they are now an enchantment makes them allot harder to remove also the orginal still gets to go back to the command zone in case someone is able to remove them you do get multiple though if you are on mirror box/gallery
@@TheDownSmasher only if one is non legendary but its a neat trick if your commander gets targeted by exile based removal and the tax is running up admittedly its a silly interaction thats probably less good if your on the voltron plan
Wait, wouldn't the Opalescence/Starfield of Nyx would actually kill the enchantment tokes that the creatures turn into since tokens have a CMC of zero?
They're token COPIES - meaning they retain all characteristics, including mana cost/value. A token like a 1/1 Goblin isn't a copy of anything, so has no mana cost/value.
Re: card draw when enchantment spells are cast - I’m assuming rules support that using the abilities of your enchantment creatures once Myrkul converts them is classified as “casting an enchantment”? Maybe I’m over thinking it.
No specifically casting has to be from your hand (or something that lets you cast from library or graveyard etc). Using the abilities of your enchantments is not "casting"
I actually had a question about how 'Opalesence' and 'Starfield of Nyx' work in this deck. Myrkul creates token copies of all your various creatures that are enchantments and lose all other card types...but since they are tokens...won't they all have a converted mana cost of 0? Unless I'm missing something, it seems to me like casting either 'Opalesence' or 'Starfield of Nyx' would turn all your enchantments into 0/0 creatures and kill them all. Any thoughts on this?
token COPIES of cards retain everything a card shows EXCEPT IT'S BACKSIDE. They do have mana costs and thus they would become enchantment creatures with power and toughness greater than 0/0 as long as it was a creature with cmc more than zero.
A token created - like a 1/1 solider - has a mana value of zero. But a token COPY has the same mana value as the card it copied! Excellent recap by @DarkWhiteWolf
Need a ruling on this. Ok….. Myrkul and a clone…. Clone Myrkul Myrkul dies and becomes an enchantment and keeps its effects and I don’t think the clone even dies would it make it happen twice? Now Sac the clone instead what happens? Comes in as a copy then it would again become a creature copy of Myrkul and dies And repeats infinitely?
Thanks so much. I had to google it after watching the video bceause it confised me so much. the confusion is a generated token thats not a copy like a knight etc has no CMC and this copy copys everything then it removes the creature types.why question is. It removes the type but it doesnt say it removes the power and toughness so when you - counter it does it become a -99 -99 token enchantment? and could it therefore be removed by cards that say destroy all x toughness cards? @@CommanderMechanic
With only 20 enchantments in the deck, I think on cast enchantresses should not be in the list. That's ~4-5 slots you can dedicate to something more effective.
Great video and quality deck techs as per usual!! 👌🏻 I was wondering, if a Vehicle was crewed and then destroyed, could you make a token copy with Mykrul and then crew the enchantment token?
Yes - the rules of crew are as follows: Tap any number of creatures you control with total power X or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn. So a vehicle becomes a creature and, if it dies while a creature, would come back as an enchantment.
