It is a reality shock that so many of our producers, directors, engineers, musicians, managers and talent are getting older, have left us already and/or retiring. These folks changed our culture and how we lived our lives. I just do not see this in todays world of music entertainment. We truly were blessed if we grew up during these times. Especially in the 1970s and 1980s. Wow! Leppard's 1983 release by Mutte was a game changer.

What a Classic album! Every song is 🔥 I only got to see AC⚡️DC once, but it was this tour! They opened for Aerosmith, who were on the road for Draw The Line. I saw Smitty 4 times in the 70's and they always kicked ass, but AC⚡️DC blew them away that night! @full in bloom, you Rock with your interviews brah! Really good! ☮️🤘🤙

I absolutely love these interviews. Fascinating stuff. Really useful information for an amateur like me, and so much nostalgia: Pyromania was THE album for me from the moment I heard it in 1983. And Back in Black...stunning. Could spend all day listening to the folks behind the scenes talk about them. MORE!

This was fascinating. Thank you for posting. Back In Black came out in July of 1980 and Foreigner Four came out a year later in July of 1981. I still think of both of them as summer albums too though I listen to them at any time the mood strikes. But they were fixtures of the marching band bus I rode on through the summer months and were on my own boombox as I played catch with my sibling in the backyard. They are both albums that can be held up as perfect in terms of production as well as the quality of the songs. Not a single song on either album is weak or something to be considered "filler". Tony and Mutt must be very proud of both since they have held up so well and remain staples of classic rock and roll!

Thank you so much for this great and honest interview. Having been a young 18 and then 19 yr old musician listening to these great records obsessively I’m thrilled to hear Tony/s recollections on the various creative processes of Mutt and of course the bands and how the magic was created. Tony Platt worked extremely well in his own right and sounds very proud to have been a part of these records that stand the test of time!

I was 9 when BIB came out and I remember a family friend played us the “new singer” and my brother and I were like “how is this possible? This is incredible.” Getting old is cool because of these experiences. For someone born today those albums will still be incredible but to have the context in real time …. Bon Scott was like their David Lee Roth. Or moreso. How can they replace the irreplaceable? OMG they are pulling it off!
@johnpeace971
@johnpeace971 10 месяцев назад
The difference with AC/DC and VH is AC/DC stayed the same band, VH turned from a great hard rock band to a cheezy power ballad pop band. Singers as unique as Bon and DLR shouldn't be able to be replaced without gutting the band. AC/DC somehow pulled it off

Full in Bloom interviews are easily the best in the business - very informative, and the interviewer never makes it about himself. Platt's comments at the end about demo-itis and rough-mix-itis were great. I know he's a bit of a recluse so it's not likely, but a Full in Bloom interview with Mutt Lange would be tremendous!
@johnpeace971
@johnpeace971 10 месяцев назад
Recluse is a bit of an understatement. There seem to be only two pictures of Mutt Lange in the world, both taken around 1983. No one's ever seen the guy. I sometimes think he's a fictional entity made up by the industry. For what reason I can't say

Bon never sounded better than on 'Highway to Hell' and Brian never sounded better than on 'Back In Black.' When Platt said that Mutt is an amazing vocal producer, the proof is in the pudding. Wish we had more than 3 Mutt produced AC/DC records! (For Those About to Rock is the 3rd one)

No, the media dubbed him the 'night prowler' or 'night crawler' & when he was arrested he apparently was wearing an AC/DC baseball cap. The media put that together with AC/DC having a song called 'night prowler' and a myth was created!
