Oh, yeah, I noticed. It was very un-Axl like. It was cool to see that. Axl almost looked a little nervous, lol. His steps, as he moved around, didn't have the normal confidence. It's got to be a little surreal, filling in on vocals, with a band that inspired your own musical career. It was cool of Axl to understand that it was an AC/DC concert, and behave accordingly, and not try to steal the show. It was ALSO good to see that Axl regained his vocal ability. The last thing I saw with Axl performing live (probably 10-12 years ago), his voice was shot, and he looked unwell.
Axl Rose. The voice of my late youth - this is not his best vocally, but as a human, showing respect and singing the shit out of it none the less - brilliant at at the ame level as his Queen performance honoring Freddie....
Notice how Axle always stays behind Angus even though he is fronting the band. Say what you want about the mans legendary ego but that, my friends, is respect. Very well played.
I’m not really much of a fan of axel musically. But I agree with you. Much respect to him for stepping in to help. He absolutely let angus do his thing. Axel just held it down and let the guys do what they’ve always done.
I almost hate to say how much respect I regained for Axl for this. Rocks biggest PrimaDonna taking a "back seat" and providing an essential service to a band larger than his, to an audience who is not strictly his, and giving a great memorable performance with out all the bullshittery he's known for. Seriously, GREAT on Axl, and long live AC/DC
Do you not want your rock stars to be primadonnas? Or do you want them to be the guy next door? They are rock stars cos they are different, full of themselves, loud in your face. Its rock music mate if you like niceness go to a coldplay gig
Man primadona befero 30 years,on his 25-30, now after 30 years he was not the same guy in mind, you are the same guy today with the (guy) before 30 years? On the way you thinking or act!axl was human ,elvis was a human, with good and bad.
@V Bye yeah, maybe he is out of key because its not his songs... Brian Johnson wont sing GNR songs like Axl as well. You know why? Its because everyone has different voice you dumb bitch
I didn't expect to like this too much. I was ready for Axl's showboating, ( which works great in GnR ) but this was very good. Axl pulled it off vocally and physically. He never tried to upstage the band, showing great respect for them. I liked this a lot.
AC/DC is the only rock band I’ve seen that can’t be upstaged by their singer. A force to be reckoned with. No disrespect to Axl Rose, Brain Johnson, and the late Bon Scott of course.
I saw this tour. Philadelphia. As a lifelong devotee of both ACDC & GNR, this was one of the most satisfying live music experiences I've ever had. Axl nailed every song & dignified the legacy of ACDC aptly. If you saw this tour, you know that shit was electric AF. High Voltage!!!
I can't imagine how hard this must be. Replacing someone irreplaceable; trying your best not to stain an all-times classic song; staying on the level of musicians you admire without looking like you want to take the spotlight. Add to that achieving those vocals at that age under such a pressure. But he did it! Axl has really grown as a person 👏
@@metalspawn4615 If Axl was to replace Bon directly, i think people would've been more disappointed. Brian was never as good as Bon, in my opinion of course. Axl did a pretty good job here, both in terms of keeping his stage presence in check and sounding AC/DC worthy.
I hate seeing fans disrespect Axl.he was just trying to help AC/DC at a bad time for the band.People need to know the situation before they bash him.it was very cool of him to help them out.much respect to Axl,whether you like him or not.
el problema es que la gente que critica no se pone en el lugar de que fuiste parte de la banda que escuchaste desde tu adolescencia! :/ es lo mas rescatable del hdp de axl!
I am 100% agree with you, you can not know how angry I was when I saw the comments on back in black and highway to hell where people criticized him for his peas ... While without him, there would not have been this tour and it was super nice to shepherd
I concur Sir. Axl was not only respectful but extremely apppreciative to front a legendary band equal, if not greater, than his own and his humility and love for his rock brothers was duly noted ! It was so cool to see an American Rock Icon front this legendary band ! Axl.....you are the man brother !
I has just read hours ago that Led Zeppelin sold most records at 111 million and AC/DC tied with Pink Floyd at 75 million. But Zeppelin has #1 with Stairway To Heaven, then #2 is Queen Bohemian Rapsody, then #3 Lynyrd Skynyrd Free Bird. To me Highway To Hell was as big as these other songs in 1981 turning 18 in Michigan.
I understand, but Guns n Roses wil always be superior to AC/DC in my opinion. Their music could even make me emotional at the age of 10 years old… AC/DC is also very legendary ❤
Axl has matured a lot. Stripped himself of that destructive ego. Got his own great band back together and filling in and nailing it for one of the greatest bands ever. That is what you call a Renaissance!!
I grew up trying to look up to that asshole. He broke my 13-year old heart in 1993 by showing up four hours late for my very first rock concert. They played for like 40 minutes (including cringy solo segment in the middle) and Axl was talking shit about my country the whole time. Luckily there was another guy at the time called Kurt. He talked about treating women right and doing whatever the hell you wanted in life so I jumped off the GNR train and spend my paper route money on Nirvana records in stead. I must say though, that the new, revived Axl seems like a much nicer guy than 90's Axl.
It's great that they still performed with only one original member. I know that there are probably more band's but the only other band I can think of doing this is Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Everyone talking bout Axl, about 54 y.o. in this video and he has the voice to do it.........How about the drummer? HE IS ALMOST 70 in this video and STILL BANGING THE CRAP OUT OF IT!
@@ohrid59mk76 Staying focused would be hard because playing the same beat for that long would definitely put someone on autopilot mode and lose focus. Keeping time yeah, because that's what drummers do. But being in good *physical shape? Nah. Like Balou said, it's some of the easiest stuff to play on drums and it's really not physically demanding at all. Props to the guy for playing it at his age, but I wouldn't say its "not that easy" for younger drummers
@@ohrid59mk76 "at that level" What level? Beginner? It's about the simplest drum beat one can play, the only thing that would be hard about it is if you're 70. Otherwise it's quite easy
Axl Rose showin' he's one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Showed up to perform 2 of his main influences and absolutely nailed every note. Fuckin' monster on that microphone, he is. Probably one of my favorite humans regardless of the controversy surrounding his name.
Those that wanted to shit on Axl keep in mind he did them a favor in helping them finish a tour, he kept Ac/Dc from losing alot of money, plus he slayed it.
Actually Axl caused ACDC to lose alot of money. Shows didn't sell out to capacity when Axl joined because fans are boycotting Axl. Any other singer and the shows would have sold out because it's ACDC. But we fans are in revolt against having Axl in the band, and it's actually hurting ACDC's income. This is a documented fact supported by research answering why venues haven't had sold out crowds since Axl joined.
@Thora F Sorry, but with due respect, are you new to hard rock? Axl Rose has always been a self-promoter. He may appear humble now out of necessity, but when he was lead singer of Guns and Roses it was always about Axl, not the band. He treated Slash like shit, and the break-up was severely acrimonious because of it. Axl also had a reputation of walking off stage when he got angry and cancelling the show, leaving 'fans' who paid for a ticket with nothing. We hard rockers never forgave Axl for it. And for him to suddenly become the lead singer for our beloved ACDC is blasphemous beyond comprehension. ACDC has always been a humble band where everyone gets along and defers to each other. Beyond the best rock ever, that's what endeared us to ACDC, their humility and comradery. The producers should have known very well the hatred many, many in the rock world have for Axl Rose and never brought him into ACDC. As said, when he joined, what would otherwise have been sold out shows because it was ACDC, had trouble selling tickets. We fans rebelled because of Axl. In later concerts you can see Axl standing in the background instead of taking the lead because they got the message we do not want him there at all. Absolutely anybody but Axl Rose. Fuck Axl Rose!!!
If you watch any of the videos where Angus shows up at a Guns N' Roses show to play something, he always lets Angus be the center of attention. Hell, even Slash demotes himself to rhythm guitar--which is actually kind of disappointing, because it would be _incredible_ to see them trade dueling solos with each other.
Have a lot of respect for this band. Angus works real hard. Bless him and he is a great guitarist. And cool for Axl for helping finish the tour. Respect is a great thing!
@ianh That's a good high-level explanation. I would add: kids born in the late 40s, the 50s, the 60s -- they weren't distracted with video games and social media. Rock music was a great escape from a one-dimensional life that frequently saw their parents working pretty hard and no short-cuts in life. Kids are good at improvising with what they have. You give a kid a guitar today and they'll say, "i can get a cooler sound from a computer instantly."
Ersen KOSE So he should give way to the front man of ACDC, As a fan of acadaca since the mid 70's This is the only time i will ever question the young brothers chioce
You Devil worshipping ACDC fans should thank the Heavens that Axl Rose ever graced the stage with ACDC to begin with, bringing in tons more revenue and interest for ACDC.
But Axl should not do a follow up studio album to rock or bust......... Brian is better and always will be acdc's singer BTW chck google......Brian will d Tour with acdc again
Man, you gotta have Balls, to only think of steppin on the stage and sing those songs... Seeing Axl delivering it like this it s so cool.. He did an incredible job for AcDc and should have deserved a live album of this once in a lifetime Exoerience for the World to listen to forever on!!!!
The man can never be accused of not being humble when he agreed to sing lead for an iconic band while alreadyfronting an iconic band of his own! Just something to to be said about that.
Axl put his voice on the line for AC/DC. He's literally screaming his lungs out...something he no longer does in Guns N Roses. Out of respect for the legend he risked everything. I loved Axl and had more respect for him than ever before when he did that. I would love nothing more than a full love soundboard recording from this show
I was honestly worried while downloading this video wondering what Axl would sound like, but damn Axl blew the roof off with his great vocals here ❗ I'm very impressed . Way to go for the entire band ❗
I don't think people understand how Axl saved the band and the tour. Venues booked, insurance, vendors, road crew, and a bunch more. If AC/DC didn't go through with the tour, there would have been hundreds of lawsuits. Yeah, he's not Bon or Brian, but he did what needed to be done. He seemed to be respectful and professional for the first time in his life.
Someone on the internet that practices consideration and humility. Yep there’s always a lot behind the scenes that we are never informed about. And people are always quick to hate.
I agree. The fans came to see AC/DC - not Axl Rose. He didn't let his ego f*ck things up - as he might have in the past. Recall when GnR were touring with Metallica and a pyro accident burned James and they had to cut the performance short. Axl - feeling he had been upstaged - blew off the GnR part of the show. The crowd rioted. He seems to have grown up.
Axl was so respectful. Notice at the start, he wanted to stay out of the light, because it was Angus' light, but he did it at the end too, but AXL was the star of the show too. His performance here was amazing and he deserves to be in the light!
That's a true performer. Trying to put on a great performance and not hold back too much, but also not upstaging. It would have been totally fine if he had walked down that front aisle and then gone back. No disrespect to have done that a couple of times, and I am sure Angus would have loved for him too, but yeah - you can totally see the respect he has for them.
I’ve learned about his story and you can tell this is the best time of his life. He’s fronting AC/DC part time and has GNR back. AC/DC will probably be more enjoyable to him as they was his inspiration as well as Queen
Some say Axl's voice is gone, but reality is that he got to a whole new level of vocal range. His voice is so powerful now that his drive moved all the way to the top of his lungs
@@Gma00001 I get where you come from, but my context is he can sing ACDC stuff and GnR songs like Shadow of Your Love pretty much like in the old times albeit he's voice aged a bit, but the "mid" range pitch in songs like Rocket Queen are now too low for him and he needs falsetto. He doesn't find his old good drive at low pitch like before, that's what I mean.
When Axl Rose was a teenager living in Indiana I'm sure he never imagined that one day he would stand in the shoes of Bon Scott or Brian Johnson as singer for AC/DC playing Madison Square Garden.
Axl was trying hard not to dance to it, not to do his signature move sideways to the rythm of the music. Trying hard not to be a distraction. That's respect. He started messing up with the timing but then did the job well. More comfortable for him to use the raspy voice to hit high notes rythmically than with complicated melodies that make him hold notes and change tones without stopping. Much more easier for him to play with AC/DC and he lost weight and facial hair. Thank you Angus!!!! Now he is back with Slash and Duff. Hopefully he releases more music with Guns N' Roses using today's voice, any style they want. They are more than legends... They are very talented human beings that play the music we still need. By the way, congratulations to Brian and the rest of the band for their powerful comeback, comercially and critically.
Axl made the statement singing for them was like a second wind for his career. I would have to agree with that. He definitely stepped in and did a hell of a job in Brian's place. Although he can never replace him he can definitely keep the legacy going
@Δημητρης ζ he did try he wasn't successful because of his attitude no one wanted to play with him at the time even when he did another Guns and Roses band that failed to...
Actually he was dealing with his demons, he got in depresion and its said that if it wasnt for berta (his house keeper at the time) he might be dead, but she treated him like the mother he always wanted to have, then when he got better he returned to the public eye and worked into chinesse democracy but the record label put a lot of obstacles and ended up being released until 2008, he kept the name gnr because he felt that it was what he worked his whole life while the rest "jumped of the ship before sinking and he stayed" besides he was the original owner of the name along with traci guns
@cart 55 cause brother when u get old ur voice gets deeper u can't hit them high notes all the older bands de tune to at least eb. Judas preist metallica and the scorpions to name a few😊
Watching Axl fronting for AC/DC makes me feel like I went to sleep one night and woke up in an alternate universe :) People are usually pretty jaded about this kind of thing, but they seem to be on board with the transition.
Yip! Imagine Axl,Bonn,& Brian all singing this song in the River Plate stadium Argentina With Malcolm,Angus & Co also waw! Scotland/Australia/and America together singing this in the River Plate stadium alongside those crazy Argentinians
I grew up to AC/DC in the 80s I'm a well rounded musician idgk axel killed it!! Just gotta respect a good song when you hear it fuck ya he tore that shit up!!
Amen.... I live in South Africa and my side and I and another couple flew to London for a weekend just to watch ACDC LIVE.... Then we heard the news Axl was taking over lead vocals and we got concerned... HELL HE KILLED IT ABSOLUTE INSANE CONCERT... LIKE HE WAS ALWAYS MEANT TO BE... SO NOT ONLY DID WE GET TO SEE ONE OF THE BEST ROCK BANDS OF ALL TIME BUT ONE OF THE BEST ROCK VOCALS OF ALL TIME.... WELL WORTH THE TRIP
@Robert Bermudez Not really. I just heard the singles, which I thought were 'ok'. November Rain, paradise city, Estranged and Patience were good. I didn't actually like the tone of Axls voice (when he sings high), OR way he dressed (cycling shorts? cap on backwards?), the way he moved, or the 'angst' expression on his face, just didn't like (or relate) to any of it. But now, as a massive ACDC fan, hearing Axl masterfully give respect to every single note Bon and BJ sang, I feel obligated to go back now, and give G&R another listen.
Stage presence my friends , that's all. This is a man from one of the greatest bands of all time, bowing down to one of the greatest guitarists of all time. You go where you want, I'll just be on the other side
Guns & Roses plus AC/DC at the same time, at the age of 54 and is just almighty every night, great inspiration man, we are grateful all the bs is behind. Spectacular all the way.
@@markitaneight but that’s just a sort of standard practice kinda thing, doesn’t guarantee he’s using it, I remember when I had the old Tokyo use your illusion Dvd, they were there but you can tell by his performances/positing etc that he wasn’t even looking at them
@@markitaneight a lot have one, even Metallica have many. With Axl, he ran around a lot so you can tell he just had a teleprompter just in case because what’s the alternative if you don’t feel confident in yourself to remember, forget the words? Apologise for forgetting them to the audience? At least he ain’t lip syncing, a lot of artist nowadays lip sync in their 20’s
