So yeah, I got this hidden blade replica from Gamestop, and felt like I should do an unboxing video for teh lolz. Personally, I love it and have been messing around with it since I opened it. However,I recommend to not buy this unless you REALLY want to due to the plastic material. Other than that, I think they did a great job at designing the thing
The Blade was purchased at EB Games for $40 CAN.

Hey all, if youre watching this video it was made in 2012. I have no idea how and if you can get this nowadays to answer your question. theoretically the blade slides along their wrist right to the edge of the palm so when they pull back their hands and release the blade there is nothing to hit but their target because the blade extends right from where the wrist bends back. If anything it would misfire and mess up their hands or fingers or something

Oh my gosh! You don't know how happy am that you can actually take the bracer off. I'm planning on making a Desmond cosplay but I needed a hidden blade without the bracer, since Desmond's is just the blade held on my straps. I was overjoyed to see it looked exactly what this looked with the bracer off!

When an Assassin reaches a certain rank, he is given a hidden-blade - the old hidden blade required the ring finger to be missing to accommodate it.But it is not necessary to cut your ring finger.

That can easily (Well if you have some experience) be replaced with a real blade instead of plastic, but is very dangerous knowing you could probably stab yourself with it. Thats why I would add a thick leather glove to it to prevent the blade from stabbing you. But I also think I would add a mechanism that can be triggered with the same arm you're wearing it on. Just a thought though :)

Thanks! A lot of props are plastic though, you also have to look at Gamestop's position, selling something that wouldn't be too expensive and to make it not lethal. Ammnra's hidden blades is actually so cool, wish I had the talent to make them -.-

In the renaissance, people's sleeves were often l lot baggier than they are now, so you could hide it under a sleeve. Also, depending on the rest of the outfit, it could just look like a regular wrist-protector - the blade itself is hard to see, especially at a distance, until it gets used.

Friend of mine made one of these. He's effectively a knife-maker (whatever you call em). It didnt have any fancy decor but had the conceptual mechanism of a spring, hidden blade. Turned out the width, depth and sharpness required to actually do damage to someone would slice open the palm of your hand whilst opening. In rl you'd need to place the blade lower from your hand (so put padding or something) or curve it somehow. Just sayin

It is rather pricey, but it's still fun to play around with. If you want it for a costume, the design of the blade is well done for it. Whether you want to spend the $40 to buy it or not is up to you haha

Ray Brown Also if you played ac 2 and acb you could see that the first assassin didnt have to cut his finger for the hidden blade which makes me think maybe it was gravity activated with a lock and that sorta stuff but then when they went with the scissor spring design for the later assassins (altiar ect) and improved the design from there.

nocll34 They stopped cutting off the finger because the rules for the assassins were less strict and less demanding lol it had nothing to do with the blade itself, altair wrote the codex pages and in the first one it tells how to make/rebuild the hidden blade :)

dude there’s a arm brace so if you stretch your arms straight the arm brace will push the button automatically but you have to put the blade back manually

No it didn't, ezios one was modified to not have the removal of the ring finger, Altairs hidden blade was the one that needed the removal

You should have gotten the Edward Kenway hidden blade from amazon. It's real leather and durable against a real blade. Sadly the blade isn't real though. Edit: The Edward kenway hidden blade is adjustable to different sized arms.

No. Before Altaïr died, he modified the Hidden Blade so that one did not have to sacrifice their finger to wear it. There's a funny scene in Assassin's Creed II where Leonardo da Vinci makes Ezio think he has to cut off his ring finger to wear it, and then reveals that he was just messing with him.
