Much thanks for both videos! Bought some t3 and t4s led bulbs from a popular site only to find out they didn't seat well and were loose fitting falling out. Got pissed so gonna go your route and make my own using factory base. Superb video!
I got mine to work, it’s just it doesn’t evenly distribute light. Like you can obviously tell where the bulb is because it’s the brightest spot on the panel. In your video, it looks like it spreads light out pretty well, but I could be wrong. I don’t really have a problem with it, just wanna know if there is a solution or not.
Did you have any luck figuring this out? I am experiencing the same issue with the climate control buttons being unevenly lit. Fully twisting doesn't seem to make a difference for me. Not a big deal but slightly irksome haha.
Do you mind finding another link from amazon or another site to buy the led's, since i dont anything about led, i dont want to make a mistake buying the wrong ones... and the link you have in the description the led aren't available anymore...
Good morning friend, I am writing to you from Venezuela, great video ... I can do a 4th gen toyota runner and I have a question minute 8:16 of your video, how do you make it turn on only the lcd screen independently ???
For the bulb with the bigger housing, that go behind the LCD, how did you take the bulb out? I'm having trouble pulling them out and I don't want to break the bulb by pulling it with pliers.
There's only 2 bulbs for the LCD screen. The ones in the top middle (bigger ones) twist it and tap it out. Sometimes they do get stuck in there, you can use a needle or a sharp object to get ot out as well.
Thank you and here's the link for it, but it is not an android stereo. www.ebay.com/itm/6-2-In-Dash-2Din-Car-DVD-Stereo-Radio-For-Toyota-RAV4-HILUX-COROLLA-4runner-/112402397412?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
So I followed your steps down to detail and everything worked out great! But.... the OFF fan button amber arrow and defroster off/on amber light stopped working :( I took it apart again and noticed the defroster button has a secondary LED #2 soldered on the mother board. I don’t mind the OFF fan but now I’ll never know if the defroster is on or off 🥲 Other than that... Thank you!
Easy. I have posted another video showing how to change the led lights on the clusters controll panel and those lights are the same as the ones you're talking about. If you know how to solder should be easy for you. Thank you.
@@Nashharis8758 UPDATE: Thank you for the quick reply Nash! I drove her around the block a few times and now the Defroster LED #2 is working again! I hope the OFF fan amber light works again with time. Strange huh! I’ll post a video soon! Thank you again... cheers!
can you link some cheap #74 led bulbs? I changed all my LED today and I'm so happy i went from no lights to everything lit up. I wanted to clean/look at the shift knob housing broke and it doesn't light anymore, not sure the exact bulb needed, do i have to replace the housing? is that simple as just connecting the wires, I'm going to just replace the bulb if i can find the correct one and hope that fixes it. Thank you!
best solution if you don't want to go OEM. The only thing is the color no longer matches my other instrument panel lighting. Any suggestions how to color match the LEDs?
@@Nashharis8758 yeah. But the OEMs are actually white as well, but have a plastic cover on them that gives theme the color. I was gonna just take it off and put them on the LED ones.
How do you replace the two bulbs for the clock/climate display screen? The bulbs sit in the housing differently compared to the AC/climate control lights. I’m unsure how to remove these two bulbs from the housing. Thanks
Yea I think they are a little different. I don't entirely remember but I think I used the chip LED bulbs. Same bulbs as the ones I used on my cluster control panel in my other video. Thanks.
Hey how'd you get around these bulbs being 12v vs the 4.7 volt that the stock come with. Have you had any fuses go out from the change? Many of the forums I've read to make this mod say you can't use 12V bulbs but the ones you posted from amazon appear to be 12v. Thanks.
I tried to do this... none of the bulbs came on. And trying to take them out after putting them in turned out to be more difficult. and I forgot which side I pulled from which. Now I'm currently drinking bourbon and questioning my life decision.
Urs is 3mm with built in resistor mine is 5mm with no resistor so when i turned them on the burned out well i went really far to get these bulbs should have researched more
did these work for the longer sockets? i got some that work fine in the short ones, but not the longer ones. or the 2 for the lcd display, which is really annoying because i have tried like 4 different types. please let me know. thanks!
Yes, I also had to buy a few kinds until I got these which work fine for all of them. That's why I decided to post this so other people don't have to waste their money on several different types of lights. Thanks.
Yea just replaced mine with these, they work for all of them but you have to fiddle around with the lcd ones bc of the metal shield. I ended up just removing the metal shield and made them work.
@@haydenperry1646 if I remember correctly its a very small metal insert you have to remove to remove the bulb. you have to open it up to see what im talking about but its only for the two lcd bulbs
@@doobedi sorry bud, see if a cell phone repair or computer repair place would do it for you. Maybe you could just take it off for them and they solder for you 🤔
How did you replace the 2 larger bulbs for the display? All the other bulbs you can take it out and replace except these 2 in the middle ones for the display. It has a shield on the side. I couldn’t figure this part to replace them .
@@Nashharis8758 thanks would appreciate it . I ended breaking the original bulb inside trying to get it out. Had to purchase a new one from the dealer .
@@davidgarrido3486 I double checked for you and it looks like I used the same bulbs just had to take another small piece off to get to the bulbs. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks
@@davidgarrido3486 so for these lights you have to remove that shield, then you route the wire to where that shield makes the connection to the circuit board
Hi, I followed your instructions, but I didn't turn on the lcd screen, only when I connect it to the connector, but when I turn on the truck I only see the information but it does not turn on.
Hi I would like to have the link where I can buy the bulb light for my Toyota 4runner 4th gen dash board Dash board bulb light Thanks for your videos they very helpful
so the link to to the amazon LEDs will work for both the climate control LCD board as well as the actual knob board as well? I guess i'm asking because the OEM bulbs are different sizes. Thanks
Yes, press the wire down with pliers but be gentle not to break the thing. Then use a flat head driver to twist them in the housing. Let me know how that goes!
