While I love Enphase's system, I have decided to go with a string inverter This is because I want the heart of the system - the inverter - to be out of the elements. My time in the Army taught me that electronics don't like extreme cold, really don't like the heat, and hate water. I know that micro inverters are designed to be outside, but I'm beating that I significantly increase the chance of the inverter making it 25 years when it's in my garage and not on the roof.
Great point. Inverters also don't like extreme heat. Keeping them in more of a controlled environment (garage, roofed outdoor structure, etc.) is great if it's possible.
I assume by "DC only battery" you mean a DC coupled battery (because all batteries are DC only). If so, I'm not sure that's possible because with micro inverters you are converting the DC from the solar panels immediately to AC on the roof.
Hello Everyone, I have a StorEdge system which works very well. The specifications on my system is as followed( SE7600A-USS 400VDC system array is 4.38KW system). I have an LG Chem battery (400VDC). This system is expandable if I need to do so. So far it runs the whole house just fine including the AC 14 seer Unit just fine. But my battery 9.8 KWh battery is too small. I would like to increase my battery system to 40KWh capacity and increase my array by 4x 400watt panel. Due to the high voltage 350-450 VDC by the array. I would need a charge controller to charge or a board to reduce voltage to 150 VDC or a board that will charge and discharge the batteries safely. That way I can keep it on VDC to the Inverter. Does anyone have any ideas?
Your solar calculator requires everyone to reveal their contact information and you probably should have mentioned that in the video. On the other hand, you didn’t say it was free either.
