@PKMR25 My remark about this test being mono was made about five-years ago. At that time You Tube had not got its act together as far as stereo contributions were concerned. A work-around (involving adding suffix to the existing URL), was required to enjoy the benefit of the relatively few 2-channel uploads that were available. Thankfully, for some time now hearing clips in stereo or Dolby Pro-Logic Surround is automatic for those using appropriate sound systems.
@PKMR25 You definitely will hear sound from your rear speakers if this is played through a system using Dolby Pro Logic. There will be no separation however, both rear channels will be identical providing a 'centre-rear' sound source. However, there is no signal at all present during the 'sub-woofer' test.
@HMV101 This is stereo... but it should be surround... .3. Which isn't possible on youtube, which is also why you don't hear anything play from the subwoofer.
@RyanteGamer Um 360p is the video resolution, nothing to do with the sound. Allthough as others have said this will only be in stereo, as youtube doesn't support 5.1 sound in videos.
i heard everything except the sub, and i just have stereo output on my computer goin to my reciever, but the left was on the left, right was on the right, center was on the center, but the surrounds were on both channels and the surround back channel:(
There is an avi download of this file which DOES support Dolby Digital5.1. This RU-vid version is not recognised as 5.1 by my Sony DA2400ES but some people may hear pseudo surround depending on their ac3/dd/dts decoder; or they just Think they hear DD 5.1 ;-)
Sub channel for the video is broken i think cuz the sub never plays and my surround is set up correctly, sub works on all other youtube surround test vids
Sounds awesome, but unfortunately only stereo. I turn the "surround" channel on my speakers OFF and can still hear the rear sounds through the front just fine. The rear surround effect is accomplished simply with with stereo phase shifting/delaying effects.
i came here to tell you that if you put on Surround on your soundcardsettnings 5.1 will work on all 6 channels . (this may only work on Soundblaster and asus Xonar)
There ARE working 5.1 videos on youtube, this isn't one of them. You just have to deselect the HQ option on them to get them working. Also, don't talk shit without checking sources or looking up information like you know what the fuck you're talking about, youtube is not mono only.
How stupid can you people possibly be, RU-vid does not support anything other than 2ch stereo output. This video may have been uploaded with 5.1 ch , but it will only be converted to 2ch. In other words you will not hear anything from your back surround or your sub / center. If you do then your setup is configured to emulate the 5.1.
