I met up with a group of enthusiasts back in July to film the last known rotating Alertronic in the Chicagoland area. It was not too loud, but at the same time, not too quiet. The city used to have three of these, which all replaced a system of ACA Hurricanes. This particular AL-6000R is mounted on the old Hurricane standpipe, and the Hurricane that used to stand here was a three-signal unit.

Videos of this one never get old! I heard from Fulton that Elk Grove used to have Hurricanes.

Wouldn't surprise me. Hurricanes were once a common siren. Their bad design caused most to be replaced very early with the P-50 and P-15 sirens. Thanks for watching!

Nice video! I knew that pipe it was mounted on looked like some kind of standpipe when I first saw a video of this...never knew they had Hurricanes!

Yes they had original square horned Hurricanes! They didn't meet sound output expectations so they weren't up for too long. Thanks for watching!

Hey I know I keep spamming, but how do you find out so much about the sirens you go to? (Like how TF can you find out that the hurricane that used to be here was a 3 signal) and how did the 3 signal hurricane even work?

@@PanferriDPMO Yes they did. ACA made the Hurricane in two models. A standard model that could only produce 2 tones. Alert, and Attack. ACA also produced a coded version of the Hurricane that was capable of producing 6 tones including Pulse and Hi-Lo signals.

Harriman TN, ACA Alertronic is single toned unlike Rolling Meadows which is sadly gone. Rolling meadows is dual toned.
