ACA P-50 | Two Attack | Paris, TX (Siren Test) 7/26/19 

P-50s are awesome and can be heard for miles! They really live up to their name of Penetrator!

I always remembered seeing this one I think as a kid. That was back in the early 80’s. Every time we’d pass it going to Brookshire's just down Lamar at the loop.

P-50 sirens and dual tone blower powered Thunderbolts are perhaps among the loudest ones ever made. For a P-50, it requires a 3 phase 480 volt circuit, but the way it performs is what you have to show for it. The Thunderbolt 1000T near my old elementary school had a fence around it and was a 3 phase unit. I always wanted to be right underneath it while it was running and look up at the rotating projector. If I knew then what I know now, I would have used hearing protection like I do at the shooting range or at a NASCAR race. The teacher thought I was crazy to want to do that, and now that Thunderbolt is retired and it's too late to film it now, which is a crying shame because it was a perfectly working siren. It was set up and put to work in 1961, and after 45 years of its unmistakable loud roar for tornado warnings, severe storms, and many first Wednesday 1 PM tests, it was disconnected from its power source forever once a brand new 2001-130 siren ¼ of a mile down the street took over the warning siren duty. I'm still sad after nearly 17 years of Thunderbolt retirement in Dallas. I am old enough to remember the tornado warning in Dallas from spring of 1984 when I went outside to the front yard and heard several Thunderbolts in the distance. Wish we could go back in time and have you film it and go forward back in time and have a High Definition video of 1984 tornado warning weather. Dallas had a 2002 tornado warning that was the last Thunderbolt emergency activation I remember. I was in the Valley View Mall parking lot and heard the Thunderbolts fade in and out from rotating as the sky was boiling upside down. I just stood there and watched as some concerned passer by in a pickup truck asked if I was alright and to go inside quickly. I just liked stormy weather, and watched the storm move in. I ran inside the garage where I was parked when it started to hail and rain heavily. My car would have been damaged if it wasn't for the parking garage. Hope Paris still has that P-50 still in use today.

I actually figured out that an ACA Cyclone 120 runs the P-50s. They just put a bucket around it and flipped it sideways to make give off more sound. That’s why these things are so loud.

Meet Charter he is a p50 girl siren and last Friday of each month and I have tried calling so LOL she loves to go off everyday when she has a two attack signals but if she does go off I love those p50 LOL👍😆😁🤣
