Creed discussion with director/co-writer Ryan Coogler, producer Irwin Winkler, and actors Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson on December 23, 2015 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
That movie was everything!!! I loved it and will go watch it again. I think what made me love it so much is I remmeber the relationship Rocky and Apollo had. They were like two peas in a pod. Best friends to the end. So when Rocky watched young Apollo, it's like watching his best friend again. And the fact he treated him like a son, ugh, and Rocky having cancer while Apollo taking care of him. The movie flowed beautifully. The only one WTF moment was when Apollo trained with the elevation mask. It is such a hyped up trend and doesn't do anything for your performance as far as gaining endurance.
One of the best movies of the year! So happy for Sylvester Stallone winning the Golden Globe, hope he can win the Supporting actor Oscar. Loved Michael B. Jordan, can't wait for the sequel.
Sly's performance in Creed blew me away. {Possible Spoiler} There's one particular scene that really stands out and anyone whose seen the film knows what I'm referring to. The original Rocky is still the best in the franchise imo, but Sly's never portrayed such vulnerability and pain in Rocky before and for anyone who grew up and seen all the Rocky films it was really sad to watch that's how real his portrayal was. When he won the Golden Globe and the Rocky theme started playing while everyone gave him a standing o, it was more than perfect not just for Sly, but the character he created almost 4 decades ago. Now just give him the Oscar
alex kanyima 100% agree w/ you on best director. Coogler got screwed. I mean is it a coincidence that Sly all of a sudden gives his most emotional performance in his acting career. I believe Coogler played a big part in getting Sly to have the performance of his life (btw Sly was nominated for best supporting actor). He also did an incredible job in making the Rocky franchise more current and diverse w/o it being cheesy. Michael B. Jordan was great in the film but I'm not mad he didn't get nominated. If he would've gotten nominated for anything it should've been for Fruitvale Station
alex kanyima for sure. I'll say this, if there was to be a black actor to be nominated for best supporting actor it should've been either Michael B Jordan or Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation.
