Great to hear from you Frank! Acadia was outstanding, I truly loved it there... Every hike got better and better. Here's something interesting- I remember telling you I was going to Acadia and you saying I would love it there. The name you gave the show I did on your podcast was "Hiking Through Heaven" Multiple times during my hikes up there I expressed sometimes to myself, sometimes to the camera, that walking through these forests, mountains, and seassides was how I envisioned heaven - just walking through a never ending paradise of beautiful scenery. Consciously or subconsciously, that phrase" hiking through heaven " stuck with me from the time I did the show, and then in Acadia it literally manifested itself. I had some really powerful moments of true awe and happiness out there - Im a real simple guy and Acadia was as good as it gets...
I've always loved trees and cold weather since I was a little kid. Maine is the most densely forested state and also one of the coldest. Seems like a natural fit for me!!!
Thank you Bob Ross, I mean Tony lol 😂. Really appreciate it buddy, for me as an amateur nature filmmaker the setting here was perfection. I just couldn't have asked for more. Spiritual is the word for the experience...
Super awesome! We absolutely LOVED Acadia when we visited - it is a place that we hope to go back! Love seeing the Ocean Patch! Looks like a great trail with a bit of everything! “Keep making memories & adventure on!” ~Karen & Shannon WOY
Thank you @wanderingoutyonder ! Yes Acadia is truly memorable place, so different from anything I typically see here in Pennsylvania. Nature is certainly beautiful and amazing, I hope you two are able to get up there again someday 🙂!
It's definitely one of the best, and certainly unlike any other trail I have ever done. It's clearly "national park service" worthy. The whole island is just ocean and mountains and lakes and forests and small villages. Thanks so much for joining me on these hikes @rickyt3961!
Wow. Top notch. I am a little envious. I always wanted to hike where the ocean and mountains meet. Cliffs above the ocean. Wow! Someday! God Bless you my friend! Keep on adventuring 👍🙂🙏🥾🏕
Well, the wait as well worth it. Fantastic footage. I am speechless, too. Your professionalism is outstanding. Well done, Walter. Makes me want to take a trip.
I just cant adequately express how happy I was and how much I loved it up there. I hope the vids give some sense of the splendor of this place, thanks QuietJohn.
Awesome And Great video😍👍🏻The natural beauty is extraordinary, perfect, congratulations on your work, always successful to you, my dear friend, amen, I Support you forever💯✅🤝❤💝🙏🏿
Absolutely beautiful. I hope I can go there in the future. These kind of places are a necessity for me. Thanks for showing us this beautiful place and a place to put on my list 🤗
I hope you are able to make it there someday as well Cheryl. One of the great enjoyable experiences I have had in a long long time. A place I will never forget. 🙂
Once again you’ve outdone yourself brother and with your body of work that’s saying something. The scenery looks like something of a meticulously crafted diorama and not even real. Particularly Monument Cove probably one of my favorite scenes of this video and the incredible sights and sounds you managed to capture from it. I can only imagine the look, feel, and sound of it standing there in-person that can’t be properly recreated by video alone. Peak color. Classic moody Maine weather which I’ll argue any day beats a stunningly sunny day for video and photo setting. Choice scoring. And that stinger teaser at the end for Volume II was perfectly executed. I admire you not only for the content you’ve created and shared, your eye for a shot, your ear for a great score, your love of nature and adventure, but also your love of family and speaks volumes that you create memories and moments with your mother each year on a trip together. Hanging on the edge of my seat for Volume II and more to come from what looks like a trip for the ages!
Definitely a trip I will never forget, and very very grateful to be able to spend this time with my mother as well as do several amazing hikes. Monument Cove in itself would be worth a whole video easily, and the raw conditions were a blessing and a curse. They kept the crowds light - initially - which helped me to film so much, but also altered the trajectory of the places and things I would go on to see. Basically I left a few planned hikes on the table, but that just means I will have to go back again I guess....😁
Welcome to Maine! I’ve lived here for over 30 years and haven’t even seen most of it yet. I think all of you PA guys need to get together and do a bus trip up here. Very good video.
Oh wow, I didn't know you lived up in Maine! What an absolutely beautiful state! I really loved my short time there Carolyn. That would be amazing to head back with a group of fellow RU-vidrs!
I took so many videos, and because everything is in 5.3 K I can only edit so much at a time as my CPU doesn't have the memory. Believe it or not I still haven't even initially reviewed half the footage from the trip, let alone the actual process of editing and putting the raw clips into a finished video. It's a meticulous process but I'm slowly working through it!
Thanks for that feedback Darcy! Others have said it was too grey and dull. But its funny how the ocean takes on the mood and hue of the sky. In any conditions its a stunning location!
If one loves nature then they will definitely love Maine. I visited Acadia in 2019 with my daughter, and girlfriend at the time. Your video looks exactly the way I remember it. I forgot about thunder hole until you showed it. I love the rocky coastline and all the different evergreen trees. We were hoping to see a moose but weren’t lucky enough. If you haven’t done so already, you should also take a walk in Bar Harbor. It is such a beautiful, clean, quaint little town. 👍
The landscape in Maine so different then Pennsylvania, I just loved all the evergreen trees, and the coast line completely foreign to one who has grown up visiting New Jersey beaches. I just couldn't have been happier and more in my element. We did make a few stops into Bar Harbor, our cabin was only 10 minutes outside of town. It was nice, but not really my cup of tea, but my mom likes that kind of stuff... And I think Thunder Hole is the coolest spot, I could sit there for an hour watching the water come in and out, love that spot!
Acadia is truly a special place. I was on that same ocean path in June 2022. You captured it beautifully! Looking forward to the rest of this series to relive Acadias awesomeness!
Really spectacular footage, looking forward to the next one. I go every fall to New Hampshire, not far from Acadia. This year the colors were somewhat muted bit still had color. Some years are more vibrant and bright. You never know. Thank you.
I agree 100% and I have been saying it over and over, the fall colors just didn't develop this year like they normally do. Thanks Andy for verifying im not nuts!
Wow, what a place! Your detailed description of the place and the sounds etc drew us in like we were right there with you. Well done. Can't wait to finish watching the series. (Am catching up on a lot of videos , so am a bit behind)
As far as scenery and breathtaking views, Acadia is about as good as it gets. I hope you are able to watch the other videos from up there, some of the best stuff I have filmed...
Beautiful, Walter. Now, I am not a pro filmographer, but I would like to see a little more saturation and maybe as much as a +0.5 - +1 in exposure. To me, it felt a little dark and dull. I know my eyes see less than a RAW image, but I also know that a little saturation goes a LONG way with bringing out all the colors you are talking about in those rocks. LOVED the video.
Yes Scott, thank you for saying it. I had been analyzing in my own mind about this project. I myself felt it was a bit dull, lacking in something, lacking the intensity, or visual impact, that a place of this awesomeness deserves. Initially, I believe that I wanted to emphasize the grayness or moodiness of the overcast conditions. In my mind I had come to picture this type of weather as the stereotypical North Atlantic weather associated with coastal Maine. But I agree completely, a little bit of a goose on the sat, or a bit of a brightening of the mood could have enhanced the visual impact. These are the kinds of comments I love, thanks so much, receiving feedback from fellow creators is truly priceless for me in developing the quality of my channel! And not even to mention the fact that I am truly thrilled and humbled that you would take the time to watch one of my videos, thank you!
We’ve been patiently waiting for these videos, as we wait for our own potential journeys up there. I’ve seen some other videos of this area, but no one captures things quite like you do. This is a really special spot, I’m glad to see you enjoying it and your time away from home and work!
I was in my glory up there that's for sure. And as nice as the big popular spots are, some of the less trodden paths were equally or more enjoyable. You should definitely go if you have the chance there is simply no other place like it - perhaps some of the upper great lakes areas could be comparable. And thanks for the compliment on how I see things- I have worked very hard to create my own signature place in the hiking genre with a unique style and presentation.
Darcy, I have been working hard for the past few years at creating a cinematic, and unique style of filming that is unique, and stands out in the field of hiking youtubers. So to hear you say that is so wonderful because that is exactly the vibe I am going for!
I can imagine the scenery being very similiar to your homeland Bruce and Otis. But for me coming from the mid atlantic, this was unlike anything I have ever seen!
That was amazing, Walter. Stunning. You captured the feeling of the place. The buoy bell tolling, the birds, the rugged landscape, the pounding sea. Can't wait for the next one! Love your music choices, too. Peace & Prayers.
Nice eloquent imagery Carol. I really enjoyed the ringing of that bell as I wondered along the trail, it did provide a certain ambience or effect to the experience. Such a beautiful place you would love it there.🙂
It's an interesting comparison I had to think about it. I would say Pennsylvania has more diversity in landscapes, certainly more biodiversity in terms of plants, trees, and animals. But I would also say the best of Maine certainly tops the best of Pennsylvania. Next dream goal for Maine - Baxter State Park and Katahdin!!!
Looks like you had a great first day in Acadia. It actually looks cool with the clouds and light on the horizon. Had you a clear day, the crowds would have been overwhelming, so you captured ocean path beautifully. Look forward to the next episode!
The weather was very up and down while I was there, alot of overcast and damp weather. By the time I returned to the Ocean Path after crossing over Gorham Mt it was indeed a mob scene. But the skies had opened up also and it was high tide. So the color of the water had turned blue with huge crashing waves, a completely different vibe. I had so many hopes and goals for this trip, some I accomplished some I didn't, but it was very nice to have this particular place largely to myself for a bit of time.
@@WALTERZOLNA it's very variable up here. We have the benefit of visiting whenever we want on the best weather days. Perhaps if you come back up, we can show you lesser known places, even up in Baxter. That's a great place too, with a completely different vibe.
@@chrissanfino761 that's an amazing kind offer Chris, thank you. The next time I am headed up there I will give you a heads up. Baxter for sure, is a goal of mine that is probably more of my scene in terms of the remoteness and wildness. I imagine Maine as being a fairly large and remote state that probably has tons and tons of hidden gems and amazing locations that are relatively unaffected by human presence. God has created an amazing world...
@@WALTERZOLNA Amen. This place has quite a lot to offer. The only place crowded in Baxter is katahdin trails themselves. But I have hiked quite a few trails that had zero people with spectacular views. Also, the bold coast has preserves with maybe at most three people at any given time. But the views they afford are nearly as impressive as Acadia. Come back soon, brother 😁
I absolutely loved this. Your footage was so beautiful! I enjoyed seeing all those rocky cliffs, the clouds and hearing the sounds of the ocean. I've visited Acadia three different times and this brought back memories for me.
I'm so glad the video brought back some nice memories. I mean I was really mesmerized by Acadia. And this was only the first hike of my trip, things just kept getting better and better, it was awesome!
Yes sir! Thanks for taking us along on the first leg of this epic adventure! I am of course a fan of the boulders that you traversed and the sound of the wave swept stones clonking around was magical! I am thrilled for you to experience this wonderful place and thankful to experience it through your lens. Happy hiking my friend!
Thanks for those wonderful comments Lumberjack PA. I don't feel that the video even did this place justice. Those stone beaches are so cool I could have just sat there all day. So different from anything I have ever known!
