Michelle Kimber if you ever go to Guatemala you have GOT TO DO THIS !!!!! I recommend however to do it during the dry season - we were lucky to not have rain but a lot of people (during different days) didn't see anything because of the rain :/
Michelle Kimber Im planing on doing the hike but was curious on what time of the year you did it in order to avoid the rain? Also who did you contact for the tour guide. Thanks !
This was amazing!! Thanks for sharing the video!! I’m planning on doing this hike in March 2018 and it’s reassuring to know that a fellow asthmatic has done it and finished successfully!
very helpful video! i'm planning a trip to Guetamala and I am interested in doing this hike! I never hiked a volcano either but did hike in Colombia up to that elevation (but less of a big\long hike) and I hiked the four day trek to Ciudad Perdida (which if you ever get to Colombia I would highly recommend it).. plus I have asthma too ! but your video gave me hope and courage to do it!
YES WE CAN!!! It's so inspiring reading your + other asthmatic people's comments about challenging and overcoming themselves (and their lung capacity) by trekking and hiking mountains and volcanoes
@@HeyLetsGoGetLost I ended up doing Acatenango! It was amazing!!! we watched Fuego erupt all night but the morning hike to the top was too cloudy to see the sunrise! I would go back in a heartbeat! and yes you must get to Colombia!! one of my favorite! and there are horses around yes haha! but I didn't notice if there was a lot ! haha
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. But its always the worst bit at the beginning! the most people that resign, do it in the first 1 hour. So for all the others - do not give up! It was sooo worth it for me to climb both the Acatenango and Fuego. But recently, after the big eruption, the situation changed and Fuego is not really erupting like it used to anymore...
Oh no? So, no more lava erruptions? I remember our tour guides basically dancing and laughing their way up and not being the tiniest bit sweaty or out of breath. Their physical condition was on point :D Imagine your work being ascending a nearly 4000m high volcano 3 times a week?! :D DAMN.
Who did you book the tour with? What was the price more or less? Thinking of doing this next month and I'm looking into different tour companies who offer it
Hey! I did it with "Gizmo". I don't know if you'll find info online but if you ask anyone in Antigua, they'll know. Recommend highly this company - they are local and some of the profits go straight back into the community (when we went, they were building a kid's park with the money and the company took us to see it). Professional, tent gear and food included (bring snacks tho, you'll crave some !). I remember it costing $45 or $45e can't remember now. I highly recommend renting the Jesus stick, mittens as well as woolen hat from the company, they were a life saver :) hope you have an amazing tour, good weather (take a rain coat and spare change of socks with you just in case and all your warm clothing !!) get tons of lava explosions and have a beautiful time :) the toughest yet one of the best and most rewarding things I've done in my life !
Hey! Let's Go Get Lost Are they okay with booking the day before the hike or the day of the hike? They don’t seem to have any online info. I see info from companies like OX Acatenango. Some of these companies charge a lot of $$$. By the way, will the tour provide warm clothing and all? I don’t wanna carry too much weight on me. Also, since I’ll be travelling solo, will I be able to join a group and meet new people through this? Thanks so much! I’m super excited!
danish t you can book a day before. nope - you have to bring your own warm clothes. you can rent mittens and a woollen beanie tho. you'll meet ppl for sure ! we had a nice small group of maybe 12 ppl :) support local businessess rather than foreign owned ones :)
Hey! Let's Go Get Lost I just did a quick search and Fuego Volcano actually erupted only 3 months ago (start of June 2018), and killed more than 62 people. That’s freakin crazy! I wonder if they have a way of knowing if it’s likely to erupt again and if they do tours based on that knowledge. It would be awesome to do the hike but i wanna make sure it’s safe beforehand. Do you know if they have a way of knowing?
