I have the same 13 foot rod, didn't care much for it at first. I did go up to a phluger president size 30 , equivalent to a 3000 size reel to add some more weight to the back. Balanced it out really good. The more I use it, the better I like it. Great review, thanks. I really enjoy all your videos.

Great review and good to know. I think I would still prefer the 10' lighter rod.

He just told you that for certain fish he could not approach them with a shorter rod. If you limit yourselt to a particular comfortable rod lenth, you will limit your ability to catch fish as the year progresses and the fish congregation depth and the needed presentation changes.

8 pound line, we swing those 3 pounders all day. The few people around here that say the rod is to stiff can't catch big crappie anyways.

That is why line rating is needed to order a crappie pole.

What line weight range is this rod for? My six Wally Marshall crappie rods, 8 to 14 ft, all list line ratings. Line ratings are necessary for ordering crappie poles if you are thinking about getting a specific action. Lure ratings does not tell you how you can handle a fish wether, wading/bank, pier, or boat fishing. If pier fishing, a slightly heavier action, and always a dipnet for suspected keepers is in order. Or if bank fishing out past a heavy vegitation barrier the same applies. Lure wgt. is meaningless there. BTW, Great tutorial on the benifits of long rod,/rear mounted reel fishing. Also, I see where live scoping is a extending cappie rod lengths to much longer, even 2x, what you are using in order to keep from spooking fish seen on today's graphics.

Anyone have experience with the ACC Crappie Stix? I just got one and an accidentally ordered a rear seated one, I'm wondering if I should send it back for a mid seated one or if the rear seat ones are good? Also what size fish is a crappie stix rated for?

The 13' rear seat rod gets heavy after fishing with it. My arm is tired after a day of fishing. I like a 10' rod , much lighter and more enjoyable to fish with.
