Three seasons and multiple SAO movies later, and the objectively superior Accel World is still waiting for a season 2. And now everyone praises Alicization for the Incarnate System while I just want to yell at them "That's an Accel World mechanic! Accel World did it first! Go support Accel World!"
@Mattiebabbie oh really? My bad then, I had no idea. You can’t really blame me tho, since accel world has objectively much better writing, you wouldn’t really think it’s from the same author. But that also doesn’t explain why SAO is so much more popular than the much better accel world. I am aware that the original work for SAO is supposedly very different and more well written than the anime adaptation *(just what I’ve heard from some fans, don’t know how true it is, and I’m not gonna read a whole thing I already have bad impressions of just to confirm),* but that shouldn’t defend the badly adapted animes awful writing. And secondly; what came first? Even if it’s the same author, it still makes no sense for one series to get amazing praise for something another series did first, same author or not. Not trying to push aside the fact that it’s the same author or anything, that was a blatantly stupid mistake of me that I didn’t do any kind of research on that, but I’ll still stand by my statement
@Mattiebabbie Welp, just looked it up myself, so I guess there was no point in asking. The original light novel of SAO aired from 2002, while accel world aired 2009, so going by that, SAO might have introduced the idea first. The reason I say might is that that series only introduced it far into the series, where in accel world it was introduced pretty much immediately. And again, I’m not willing to do such extensive research to look into the exact volumes each series introduced it in, and its respective release dates. Since I know writing a light novel isn’t a week to week basis like most manga, it’s hard to put a time frame on it, especially as I don’t know the volume SAO introduced it in, but I think it’s fair to say accel world probably introduced it in its first volume. But even if the light novels are in SAOs favor, accel world still did it first in the anime adaptation, yet got none of the praise the SAO anime has gotten for it, from its almost entirely anime-only fanbase
@Mattiebabbie I think you're missing the point. Yes, of course I know they're written by the same author: I *read* the Accel World light novels; I've got the whole translated collection on my shelf. What I'm talking about is all of the anime only reviewers who never watched the first season of Accel World acting like Alicization is the first time that this fascinating "Incarnate System" has ever been animated. It's not. Accel World might have been written after SAO, but the Accel World anime predates the SAO anime. I didn't hear the SAO detractors praising the Incarnate System in Accel World back then, and now that I do, it's only because they saw it in SAO years later and *still* don't know that Accel World already used that same power system, and did it better. In other words: SAO is only just now starting to approach the level of quality that Accel World has had from the start, yet Accel World is still stuck in production limbo while SAO is getting sequel after sequel. That's what bugs me.
SAO is designed to be simpler to cater to more mainstream audiences, hence, it is more popular even with fewer substances. AW, on the opposite end, is darker and about the struggle of the inferior main protag. They also have more personal development than SAO. The story is less revolved around the harem. Therefore, I think SAO is easier to watch as you don]t have to think much, easy entertainment. AW, on the other hand, is thought-provoking and realizes the dark side of human emotion.

Maybe Sword Art Online. Mainly because the headsets feel more like a game device whereas the devices in Accel World feel more like something as essential as a phone.
@@jollyjelly304 well I mean Sword Art Online Takes Place in 2022 and Accel World takes place in 2045 in the Light Novel while in the Anime it was changed to 2065 so yeah I felt like I had to point that out even tho I didn't really need to but oh well

@@godiseverything8170 I think the correct will be not focus more on Love Live because the anime studio that make Accel World anime is the one making Love Live (which give them so much money that they abandoned all anime they work and just keep making Love Live instead)
