Thanks! I'm a real rotary fan, so I made sure to get that right. (I'm gonna do Synkro next!) And it's a flat-6 in Chicane (close!). Low centre of gravity, well balanced, naturally aspirated. I feel like it suits Karma the perfectionist.
@@ripsawchelsea5044 yeah now that you mention it, I hear the "porsche-ish" sound in Chicane (or less likely, Subaru?) But I honestly forget they still make flat 6s without turbos so I just assumed it was a V6 😅
@@VinylScratchOfficial i'm pretty sure Subaru Outback has a NA flat 6. And chicane, to me at least, definitely sounds more (and looks more) like a subaru than a porsche.
Thanks! It's a 2JZ. Shirako is more about drifting and vlogging than actually winning races. He's a walking meme. So I gave him the most drifty, memetic engine in existence. Also, Bassline looks like a pickup. Ford makes a performance pickup called the Falcon Ute, which has a turbo inline 6.
@@ripsawchelsea5044 i recognize that sound anywhere lol 2jz’s are unmistakable, and you do have point that bassline does look like a ute with it’s entire rear cabin filled with speakers. also if you did anything with power rage or reverb, what engine sounds would you use for them?

holly shit this is so good, keep up those vids, i love hearing these cars with realistic engine sounds. Id honestly pay to have the 4 movies remade with better visuals and sounds, i think the cliffhanger ending is amazing because(even if unintentionally) it leaves room for people to imagine, kinda like the sopranos ended, which is always a plus for me, because everyone can have their own continuation of the story and share it with people, which imo is the reason these movies are still being talked about after all these years
One thing id like to say is that as great as these sounds are, it’s a little strange to hear the engines shift when the characters aren’t shifting during interior shots, especially since none of the human cars seem to be automatic. The cars are likely already in high gear from the first booster to clear the loops anyway. With that said, the audio for the wide shots of the cars sound fantastic.
Rollin' Thunder and Jackhammer are automatic (two pedals and column shifters), Rat-ified and Krazy-8 are sequential, not sure about Piledriver but Porkchop might prefer automatic since he is the stereotypical southern dude. As for Monkey, he wasn't that good with a manual, which was noticeable from him driving Spinebuster.
Loving nearly every sound here! The only 2 cars that sound uncanny to me, are SpecTyte and Rivited. Even though I don't mind the rotary swap (since it's meant to be powered by a hybrid V6, which btw - you could use today's F1 cars as a basis), the rotary note sounds too "distant". Sitting in the car, you'd probably hear a bit more of that light-humming bass / undertone below the high-pitched rotary. As for Rivited, it sounds too much like a high-revving Judd V8. According to the creators, it's powered by a 427. I figured it might sound more like a Cobra or even a Saleen S7 / S7R - dominant.

The only two supercars I can think of with DOHC are the Zonda and Mclaren F1. I think it would most sound like the F1 since Reverb is accurate to its shape

Just my opinion but all the metal Maniac should technically have V8 sound clips because even as a kid when I seen the TEKU versus the metal Maniacs I always saw it as import vs. Domestic but then again that's just my opinion the video is great either way
So interestingly enough, spine buster had a V10 installed and Rat-ified was powered by a V12. But the rest were V8s, even the motorcycle pork chop had. Another interesting note, Rat-ified is the only Right-Hand drive car in the series. Monkey made it right hand drive so he wouldn’t get snatched up by the sweeper like when he took spinebuster through the metro realm.
Engine sounds I can make out of this Ratified - Low-revving V12, Probably a Mclaren F1 Chicane - Flat 6 Boxer from a 911 Spec Tyte - 4 Rotor Engine, maybe a 787b going through a tunnel Piledriver - Can’t make of anything other than a diesel V8 from an F150 Baseline - Rb26 with a twin scroll turbo Hollowback - Modified ‘69 Chevelle or really any old Chevy Battle Spec - Inline 4 from a Civic Riveted - V8 from a BMW M3 GTR
Daaaaamn this really makes a huge difference considering Teku and Metal Maniacs cars always sounded the same I can only imagine the whole movie being edited with these sounds, it would be wiiiild
Nicely done. I don't know how much I agree with some of the sounds for the cars, and the internal shots coulda probably used a low-pass filter, but from one Audio Engineer to another, I tip my hat to you
Amazing work! Love the sounds used for each one. If you ever do the other cars, I’d like to put a reminder that, IIRC Rolling Thunder has a Lincoln motor in it.
Teku and for the most part the metal maniacs sounds great. But riveted needs some throat to the engine. The Bentley Continental V8 would be a great fit with twin turbos
