Thank you so much! I'm just really worried about my A Levels this year; it seems like it comes down more to luck and how much the teachers know you for good grades. what if the mass applied on top of the cart is not given but the one hanging off the edge is, how could i find out what the mass applied on the cart is?
im a bit confused as to what part of the mass is staying the same in this experiment, as you are removing mass from the trolley, and adding it to the string, right???
Total mass of the entire system remains constant. Total mass of system = mass on trolley + mass added to string. He is using the same number of masses the whole experiment, he doesn't add or remove any. He just places them in different places so the total mass of system is same.
