Sir, thanks a lot. Can you please answer my query? What if (N1)² - (N2)² is greater than 0? As values of N1 and N2 can be controlled by us, this can take place. If this happens, then the value of sin theta will exceed 1, which is not possible. So, can you please explain this restriction.

@@EngineeringFunda my point is Air is a rarer medium in between core of glass or plastic. But in diagram as you explain when light goes from rarer to denser it bend towards normal but in diagram you show that it moves away from normal. Thats what i don't understand. Please explain that.
@Dinosaur-jj6zr
@Dinosaur-jj6zr Год назад
Yes, as light passes from a less dense to denser medium, the light bends towards the normal. This is shown in the purple and orange rays in the video; if you were to draw a line following the incident ray down inside the core, you will find that they bend towards the normal. Maybe you may have the misunderstanding that "the bigger the incident angle, the smaller the refraction angle". This is not true, you may give arbitrary values of n1 and n2 and calculate the refraction angle using snells law. Hope this helps :).

@16:20, Why in index difference (delta)N=n1-n2 but in relative refractive index (delta)N1=n1-n2 and so N1 is coming out of underroot? So messed up....just hate this subject, hate this branch, hate you, hate my life.
@nerfednahid
@nerfednahid 4 года назад
Relative refractive index are calculated with respect to separate medium, and N1 is coming out of underfoot because if you multiply these to term (2n1)(delta n1) then you will find n1^2 and root cancels square so you get n1 only.
@varunsharma3485
@varunsharma3485 4 года назад
Index difference is nothing but the difference between refractive indices of the two medium under consideration and is denoted by (delta n = n1 - n2). Relative refractive index is something different. It is as an index of one medium in relation to the other medium, denoted by (delta = (n1 - n2)/n1). Note very carefully here in the first case "delta n" is a single variable means delta and n are not separate for algebraic calculation, they are treated as just one variable. In second case delta is a separate variable and n1 and n2 are also separate variables, so here we have three separate variables, so (delta n1 here actually is delta * n1) that it is the multiplication of two algebraic variables, hence it is coming out of the square root. Hope you understood !

For all the classes before you took n2 as refractive index of core but in this lecture you consider?n1 for core?? Isn’t that too confusing and controversial???
@EngineeringFunda
@EngineeringFunda 3 года назад
There is nothing about n2 and n1, only you should consider refractive index of cladding should be greater compared core index.

When n1 is approximately equal to n2 then n1-n2 bhi to zero ho jaega sir to n1+n2= 2n1 hone se bhi NA zero kyu nhi??

If it's approx equal, then N.A. should be zero, coj (n1 -n2)= 0 Please reply me and others who have Doubt

@@Pranjal90 arrey bhai, n1-n2 is not zero because that is delta(very very small value like 0.000001 which is equivalent to zero). Also, answer to your next ques.:- it is NA=sqrt root(delta×n1×2×n1)= (n1) sqrt root(2×delta) . Hope it helps!
