I just love this man. He is so sensitive and loving. You can tell that he really means what he says when he thanks his girlfriend for her support. He appreciates the small things.
What a beautiful speech, cried when he mentioned his girlfriend (now wife how cute) So glad he's making it big in America, love watching him in our little UK shows over here, he was made for bigger things though
Guys, did any of there haters actually see the show? I did. And James was SO brilliant. He deserved this. The funniest show I have EVER seen. Don't talk unless you know.
It did too. It was the best performance in a comedy on Broadway I have ever seen. Personally, I find his career to be a huge disappointment ever since, but it’s true that in One Man, Two Guvnors he was a genius, and the haters can’t take that away from him.
What is with all this hate? He seems like such a genuine, nice man and has always come across that way - he seems genuinely humbled and he's a very funny, talented man. You've got no reason to hate him - stop being idiots.
Good for him. After all the criticism he has received (a lot of it unjustified) I'm glad to see him getting such recognition in front of his peers. I hope Patrick Stewart was in attendance.
My friend and I were watching the Tonys and she saw the clip of him attacking himself from OMTG and she was like, "What is this guy?!" And then we saw his acceptance speech and she just quietly said, "I'm sorry I mocked him."
You know what's funny he seems to be having a career reminiscent of Michael Crawford. in his native UK he's known as a funny man, a joker, but he has this serious theatre image in the States
He's not my hero but I respect him. You come on this video, anonymously and bash a guy who's dreams are coming true. Does that make you feel like a better person? And you call me a dickhead? Hahahaha You've proved my point.
Yeah well done and all that, but there's something fake about his acceptance speech. Just doesn't seem sincere. It's been rehearsed (just in case I win) He's still acting as far as I'm concerned! Playing at being humble. If he was really shocked he would have been lost for words. Can't stand him. Got a bit big for his boots lately. Smug. Ok, rant over. And as for calling his girlfriend his "baby mama" he clearly doesn't realise it's an insult. Fool!
"I have to thank John Lithgo, and James Earl Jones, and Frank Langella, and, my favorite actor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman; to be on a list with you was enough, and, holding this--I honestly--it just reminds me that there is no such thing as "best". Sir Nicholas Hytner and Richard Bean, Cal Mccrystal, our brilliant cast, Tom Edden and Ollie and Jemima and Danny and Claire and Susie and Everyone; I share this with them completely.. our producer, Bob Boyett, who took a huge risk bringing this ridiculously silly play to your city.. your city, the audiences here have embraced our show like we never ever imagined they could; every night is a joy. My agent Ruth Young, Andrew White, Sharon Jackson, John Buzzetti, and Ari at WME. My girlfriend, Julia; good thing it's not hot in here. My girlfriend Julia gave birth to our son about 5 days before rehearsals. She's my baby momma and I can't wait to marry her! Seriously, I would not be holding this if it wasn't for her. She made me say "us" instead of "I" and "we" instead of "me," and I love her. Thank you very much."
Notice the Toxic Masculinity in the comments. A man showing respect and joy for a woman he loves is viewed by these wayward men as "unmasculine". I think its brave to show emotions like he just did and I'm a lady and I'd be afraid.
James is one of the most amazing human beings in this word. He's fun, full of talent, a remarkable actor, fantastic talk show host, honest and likable. Cheers!
James Corden's career trajectory and personal reputation is a classic example of the rise and fall, and rise again, of modern celebrity. After his phenomenal success with 'Gavin and Stacey' his ego, as he himself confessed, went off the chart and through his behaviour he was perceived as a conceited, obnoxious and megalomaniacal moron. I'm not attacking or defending him, nor justifying the hate, just providing an explanation as to why he still arouses so much venom in so many people.
To wake up and find that James won this award out of the 7 total OMTG nominations - I was absolutely over the moon. Having seen the show 17 times in the UK with James as Francis Henshall, the role deserves ALL the awards. So proud of him. Well done, James!
People insulting James Corden? What is the world coming to! Love him and he completely deserves this. Had a little sob as well! You may not find him funny but commenting on a you tube video will make no difference so please just don't.
his career was going down the pan so he had to call a favour from nicholas hytner who he had arse licked for years to write him a tailor made play with him as lead. most underserved tony win of all time and sums his career up as a whole.
Corden's career was wildly successful in 2011 having wrapped up a very critically and commercially successful sitcom and having recently starred in many other film/TV projects. Corden got such great reviews in the West End production that both the show and he transferred to Broadway which is super rare, definitely not just something a director friend would do as a "favor". You might not personally like his performance, but the vast majority of critics and audiences did, and he was a major factor in the show's success. Really bending reality to pretend he was just a washed-up actor who called in a favor
I'M DOING THE SAME MATE I JUST LOVED THE SPEECH GAVE IT'S THE BEST AND THE MOST INSPIRING I HEARD IN A LONG TIME...ALL OF US SHOULD BE JUST AS SIMPLE AND HUMBLE EVEN AFTER GETTING SUCH BIG ACCOLADES!!!!COMPLETE RESPECT FOR JAMES CORDEN
people give the man some credit. He is one hell of an actor, showed it in History Boys. This is a genuine speech from a very humble and almost embarassed man who has just recieved the biggest recognition for his talent that he will ever recieve.
Well done for noticing. You passed the pedantic test. PS It should be 'It should be', not 'Should be.' Also, the full stop should be placed inside the quotation mark.
