When your teacher ask does anyone have a favorite actor? Class:Oh god no Me: Oh yes Teacher: Who? Class: Here it goes Me: LIN MANUEL MIRANDA! (Starts singing Hamilton, is sent into the hall.)
"yeah his name is lin miranda I know you don't know what that stands for but he writes great shows with an unbeatable flow and it's all on spotify if you wanna give it a go"
My favourite thing about all of this is that all the cast members are literally dedicating their wins to each other. It's not just a passing reference of "thanks to xxx" or "i wouldn't be here without xxx", but going the step further to say "this is their win as much as mine". And i love that!
*grabs envelope. "I'll take the tony." "This envelope says Lin's, but it's not entirely Lin's, because when you work with Tommy Kail, the best idea wins. When Alex finds a place to cut, or Andy needs more bars, you can't think "this is mine," you can only think "this is ours." Is it ours or is it hours, well it is hours of re-writing, you talk Burr with Oscar and Jeffery keep igniting that spark into a flame, make a mark, arrange the frame, hit your target and change the game, earn the hyphen in your name. You let Daveed Digs turn your couplet into a triplet, you're given the mic and he gribs it, spits it, rips it and flips it. You turn back to the envelope that says you win, you think about your father and how scared he must have been, when he came to New York City and he didn't speak the language, so you give Hamilton all his hunger, genius, and anguish, and you vanquish self doubt by perfecting your lines of text, and then you call Tommy Kail and you say, "what's next?""
he was so excited when he got to the mic he looked like he was going to start shaking then the part about his dad made me want to cry it was so sweet and he just is such a wonderful man I hope he remains happy
“This envelope says Lin’s but it’s not entirely Lin’s. Because when you work with Tommy Kail the best idea wins. When Alex finds a place to cut or Andy needs more bars. Oh my goodness. He is my inspiration. He is who I wish to be like. I appreciate him so much it is beyond words. Just to be recognized by Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda would be.... Just amazing. I am currently working on getting the sings down and then I will start posting covers. But oh my.... I cried watching the performance last night because it hit me so hard that that's how close I will ever get to see Hamilton live. I hope to see it one day. But by time my one day comes the original cast will be "replaced". But they will never be replaceable. I don't know what I'm saying anymore. I'm just so emotional. I would be corny and put some lyrics at the end of this as a quote. But nahhhhh it would take too long to find the right words. But Alexander Hamilton was lucky to have Mr. Miranda tell his story. I'm done now.
“You think about your father and how scared he must have been when he came to New York and didnt speak the language so you give Hamilton all his hunger, genious and anguish.” - Immigrants, we get the job done 💔
OK here's an easy job...Being on the Tony award committee when this guy's name came up as a nominee. This is only about a minute long but it contains a much feeling, message and emotion as an entire opera. His words, message, pace, and animation are perfect. He is grateful and humble and thankful to his family and his colleagues.
I just want to say, he is equally adorable in person, I got to be in the same room with him less than a week ago and he seems like just gives the best hugs, like he was the kid In Preschool that hugged all the sad kids and told them it was gonna be okay.
Wow, thanks for posting this (since it wasn't shown on the TV broadcast of the Tony's). This 'acceptance speech' is every bit as good as his "sonnet" for musical score; in fact, I like it even a little better. He is just an amazing, genius writer (and composer) and one of the most articulate and passionate artists I have ever seen. I loved all his interviews on PBS (w/Charlie Rose), CBS, with James Corden, Stephen Colbert on their late-night programs, etc. I don't know him but I feel so incredibly happy for him.
Oh how lucky we are to be alive right now, I wish I had his talent, I wish that he taught a class on song writing because he is the master. We are so lucky to have this man on the earth right now
He''ll never admit it. We all know that he is an absolute genius and too pure for this world, but he denies it. Humility, pure goodness, and honesty. The definition of him that is much too simplified. Words cannot describe him.
li see lin's that awkward shy kid in school that never talks unless it's about poems and books and has an entire collection of them and is so excited to tell anyone about it who listens
OMG OMG THIS VIDEO IS THE UNICORN OF UNICORNS. 1000:1 RATIO OF LIKES TO DISLIKES!!!!!!! Some one will probably ruin it now cause i called it out but ive already seen it. Second video of ALL of my years of watching youtube that i see this.
New Friend: Who do you think is a perfect human being? Old Friend: oh please don't... Me:Are you sirious? Is that a real question? I mean siriously? Tell me you're joking. It's not a joke? Alright, here I gooo....
