at 1:31 of this video shows the time and the padlock icon. this is where I am. You say to tap the space bar 2x and enter the password. what if I need a pattern to enter? how do I do this?
Man you saved me this time ❤️🤩 it worked like a charm. But still unsure why my phone screen is completely dead. As it didn't show any sign of issues before. But at least now I can access and backup all my data before sending it to repair shop. Thanks mate. 🎉
Very helpful video, this method worked perfectly on my S20 with pin protected lock screen. Lets you backup your phone data before sending it off for repair, or to use your desktop monitor keyboard and mouse to run your phone from. Finding all the right cables and plugs was the hardest part, but they and the usb-c multiport adapter can be obtained from places like Amazon if necessary. Nice work.

OMG man you're a life saver with this video! Thank you for posting this video, saved my life. My phone copied yours, just stopped working. So my question how did you reset the phone before getting rid of it?
After doing all the necessary backup go to Settings -> General Management -> Reset -> Factory Data Reset (Or you can just go to Settings and search for "Factory". It should be the very first result) P.S.: I'm sure you have already done this yourself, but I'm posting the answer anyway, in case someone else has the same question.
For some reason it wont work i tried even find my mobile and changing the lock to something simple and did the double spece tab nothing its just stuck on thr lock with time and date the keyboard works and phone respond to it
I have an A90. So far, I got the screen with the time and the lock icon. Sadly, the method isn't working. I'm pretty sure the 4 digit pin I had is correct, although what if I had a pattern lock? It's been a minute since I used the phone so I'm not too sure.
this method is not working with my note20 5g.. is it a different method with my model? i tried the pin lock but no luck. is the pin lock different from the passcode?

Had the same problem. Couldn't just use factory reset. I had to manually remove all my aps and I just deleted all photos and remove all my accounts from phone.
i have a mouse and keyboard that are not wireless and i also dont have this hub, does anyone know how i can make them work on my moniter? because when i connect them it doesnt work
can you please tell me what cable/hub I would need for the exact same phone with the same problem and my only display options are my 2017 MacBook Pro with usb c ports or a 2011 iMac desktop??? I will subscribe for a reply.
Hi Mate, No need to subscribe. Wouldn't be easier to find some tv around? I am not sure what cable for Mac, plus it's working better if you connect to external display, rather then PC.

@@Morridek My keyboard is mechanical. The phone 1 day was working with dex but i restarted it later and now its on this mirroring. Will try later again but not much hope

PATTERN UNLOCK SOLVED! Such a great video! After pressing the spacebar and inputting my code, I kept getting the emergency phone screen. My phone had a pattern lock and I couldn't figure out how to unlock it. Here is what I did: At the emergency phone screen, I rotated my phone and waited for the phone screen on my computer to rotate horizontally. I then pressed the volume button. This brought up the volume indicator on the computer screen. I then clicked the icon and it showed all the volume indicators (notifications, ringer, etc). From here, there should be the settings icon at the top right corner. I clicked on that with my mouse and it prompted me to use the mouse to draw my pattern. After that my normal phone screen showed up on my computer screen and I could use the mouse to click on what I needed. I did this on a Samsung S22 Ultra. I hope this helps! IMPORTANT. THIS VIDEO WORKS!!! I could not find a video that told me to hit the space bar twice, then type in my pin, then hit enter. I did this and got right into my phone. Your a life saver guy.
I've got the same issue. I just need to access my notes. Unfortunately my phone is pattern protected. Would i need to hit the space bar twice to attempt to draw the pattern?
heya, i had the same problem with my note 20 ultra, tied the same method, but couldnt get it on the tv screen, tried everything, spacebar, enter everything.. no thing worked. then i just put it back in the closet,yesterday i even went to samsung service centre, they opened the phone and said its electical damage due to moisture( which is so untrue) and adviced me to chnage the display with a quote of around euro 250, which i think will be of no use, now today of no reason it started on its own, i dont know till how long itll be fine. but im glad its back :)
You saved my files. I was hopeless when Samsung told me that I could not get my files if they won't change my screen. I have a black screen and I couldn't figure out why it did happen. I've searched everywhere and still couldn't figure out how to fix my phone so I ended up on your page.
Got everything up to the lock showing on screen, but my phone has a pattern lock, how can i show that on the monitor so i can use the mouse to draw the pattern?
Thank you for your efforts in sharing this, you are a life saver🤩. If it is a pattern lock, we just need a C to HDMI connector to connect to any monitor/TV. Just swipe the screen and draw the pattern on the black screen and it opens. Make sure you check a 'lock screen image' of your phone in google to understand where the pattern dots are located (it is not as wide as I expected but never realized while using with screen on). You can manage to backup online with the touch inputs on black screen. But of course it is much easier if you have a multi port to connect mouse and keyboard.
Once I got past the pattern lock screen using a mouse and a usbc hub, the screen went black on the TV and now my phone won't display on the TV at all. Phone is still responding and beeps to the volume up/down so I know the phone is on. Any thoughts on what to do?

These steps definitely work guys! I used an original 1st Gen Samsung DEX Dock with my Note Ultra 20 as it had the black screen of death. The original Dex Dock only has one USB port so I used an Apple Keyboard that had 2 USB port extensions so I connected a mouse to one of those extensions. The Dex Dock is powered by USB C. HDMI from Dex Dock to TV set. I hit the Space Bar on the keyboard and than my lock pin for the Note and than I hit Enter on the keyboard. Worked! Keep in mind that on the TV screen you will not see the actions you are typing and it still just shows the lock icon. Just make sure to hit those keys on keyboard in that order and obviously correct lock screen pin and than hit Enter or Return on Apple Keyboard. Now I will say that a J5 adapter like on the video may be cheaper than getting a Samsung Dex Dock and separately a Keyboard with USB ports on it. I by chance still had the Dex Dock that I had purchased for Samsung S8+ I believe it was when Samsung first introduced the Dex feature. Thanks for the video man! It worked!!!
What if my phone is not active. Do I put my old Sim card In and I have a hdmi cord but not a dex adapter but I do have a laptop will the hdmi cord work with out the dex?
@@micheline6537 Connect it to a TV instead of a laptop. Connecting it to the TV should automatically turn the phone into DEX Mode. Hopefully your TV has USB plug-ins for a keyboard and mouse.
hey bro this was working for me earlier, was able to gain access into my phone through the monitor. i made the mistake of updating my phone whilst on the monitor and ever since then i cant get any usb response from the phone. any ideas?
I used the Crtrl key, space bar didn't work for me. My phone is password protected, with the lock symbol showing on the monitor I pressed Ctrl on the keyboard, there is no change on the monitor but I just entered the password and Enter and it unlocked. (After that, before I could see my phone on the monitor it gave me some pop-up to launch Dex by pressing Start on my screen, but I was able to press Esc on the keyboard to close that).
I have the same phone, same issue I did a test to see if I could plug my phone into TV using usb c to hdmi cable, it worked I could see the lock screen. So, tonight after work going to hook up keyboard and mouse to adaptor and cross my fingers I can wipe the phone clean.
Let us know how it goes Jennifer! Good luck! If it won't work first time try few different combinations by hitting space. Eventually it opens up after typing passcode.
@@Morridek I'm in it right now. Hit space bar a few times then entered in my pass code on keypad. Currently waiting to finish back up then going to start deleting everything.
do you know or can you check if you keyboard has power just by clicking on "num"? I have the same screen, but I have the feeling, that the mouse and the keyboard dont get any power to run as the mouse is also not showing the red light after plugging in.

Hi, this might be a little more tricky. Technically touch screen is working but we can't see anything. If you will managed to draw right pattern with black screen you will get in. I haven't find other way so far.
How do you actually copy the data from this phone to another? I tried to copy the phone to a new one, but you can't do it in DEX mode. When i connect another source like PC or a new phone to the adapter, DEX mode on TV Shuts off.. Literally.. now i have acess to the broken phone, but i cant do shit with the data..

Very helpful video. Connected numpad and mouse. Got access via DeX in external screen. Switched back to mirror mode and suddenly the screen on my phone was back on :)
Any idea on why the mouse and keyboard work but the HDMI won't display the phone on screen? Is there a step I need to do? Cause the TV and hdmi cables work fine.
Even better trick: Use Samsung find my mobile to unlock the device so that you can use it with HDMI My keyboard and mouse didn't work to unlock the screen. I tried many different keyboards/hubs/OTGs- none worked.
