I disagree with loads of the comments. It's a great demo, it's not your typical "check out ma insane TRANCE HARDSTYLE SCREAMO LEAD!!!" or "ambient drone demo'. This cat can play!
I have grown tired of are the ''This is crap! My software synth blows this out the water!' Why are there a hundred of these people in every comment section? Why are you here? If your soft synths are that great, then what is your motivation to be here? I gig live roughly 12 times a month. I don't sit in front of a computer and design sounds like that. I do a little, but mostly a plug and play guy. There are limitations to everything. Hardware synths are just plain better for someone like myself, and frankly, there isn't some humongous difference between hardware and software when you're dealing with quality synths from both. In fact, the differences are often negligible.
Hardware synths reduce CPU load on one's DAW, more critical for those with weak computers. So, there's that. Plus real knobs and switches are the bee's knees.
To those who must have true analog, I get it. Go buy a Prophet-6, Modal 008, etc. But if 99.9% close is good enough, and you're looking for more than that, the Virus is an awesome synth. Plus, it really excels at complex sounds, wavetables, and heavily processed patches with a lot of polyphony and multi-timberal layering. If your aim is to just have it do VA stuff for EDM you're missing it's true potential.
Finally, somebody who isn't afraid of showing the other side of virus ti and play it live. DM has used 3 of them live on stage, so i guess that's enough said right there about this synth in general. Love how some others here compare and it to vintage synth and bitch and moan...somethings will never change!
DM only used it as a controller on stage FYI... However as far as analog emulation goes, I've programmed several of my minimoog patches to the Virus TI2 with really great results. I forget it isn't actually analog, lush and fat!
That's awesome. I featured on a cover of "Will You Be There" by Celebrate the Nun (same lead singer) and I'm a huge Virus fan. My cover is on SoundCloud. I'm considering a TI2 (former Indigo 2 Redback owner) so that's why I'm here.
I just ordered a TI2 polar today but this demo doesn't really make me that excited. this guy chooses some odd patches to demo. half the music sounds like the Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack composers and the pan flute guys in the mall bought a virus and started a boyband.
I appreciate the fact this guy took the time to create this video. Its quite a time consuming hobby in itself! As a long term virus user myself, I feel the strength lies in its ability to create ambient soundscapes. No other synth can create sounds like this >> "Ran Kirlian - Diaspora". Do a youtube search and check it out...
The brass definitely sounds brittle since I am used to a Jupiter 6 all day but some of the sounds are very nice like the Moog ones. But I am not a Moog guy so I am curious what a Moog user would say. I definitely would not get this for the brass or strings.
Not it's wheel house...it's a (still current) synth in it's own right, not trying to be any of those ^^^^ plus, sorry, this gents playing is only so so
I have had my Ti2 since it came out...it does fantastic analog brass and strings. I’ll never sell it...it sits so well in the mix, and can very well emulate Prophet-5’s and OB-Xa’s as well (I have a Prophet 10 Rev4 as well).
@@jfracine_composition Ok, currently the KB is for sale. But what I like about the KB are the 61 keys. Furthermore the keys feel excellent and remind me a bit of real piano keys. And the KB offers a pretty "warm" sound. I really like the TI2 sounds as they give me a lot to create analog and "wavish" sounds. The KB instead gives a lot of analog and maybe "lofi" sounds. I have a direct comparison by a soundset of LFOStore that can be used on both, the KB and the TI2. The TI2 presents these sounds very "clear" whereas the KB sounds a bit more analog.
That's a matter of definition. I'm putting away €200 / month for a year so I can buy one of these keyboards. It doesn't matter how much things you pay for per month, it matters how much you save per month. I've got rid of my digital TV channels, spotify, storytel, and other such expenses so I can afford this keyboard within a year or two.
Johan Brodd yeah i understand your priorties, i got several synths already , but i cant afford those higher brand synths unfortunately ... got a kid to feed a house and a car and a full time job :p . Mostly when i got some money aside it ends up invested back in my house for renovations .... so to be able to produce music i got to look on the second hand market :(

The designer, Christoph Kemper, is now designing guitar amplifiers. Since he is only one engineer, his focus gets focused on one thing at a time. I heard that he may get back to it at some time in the future.
The Virus Control editor is great for editing patches. I just wish they had a standalone version so you don't always have to open the plug-in in your DAW to access it.
i had to sell this synth, it sounded worse than model C and it a had a soundcrash bug, it had really good features tough. sometimes i miss it but i made the right decision, i moved to workstations, yeah they are not as accurate as this but usually they bringing the right stuff, i also own a true analogue synth and a small digital model remake of the JD-800
OB models are nice but it's a different sound. It's like comparing a Virus to a Voyager, both sound great, but two way different sounds. I love my Virus and hope to own some OB and Moog modules one day soon as well.

(parfait pour faire le tube dance ou rap sur skyrock 😷) de mon point de vue,je trouve que c'est précisément sur ce synthé qu'on ressent le comportement raide des chiffres qui produisent le son (digital) ça doit sûrement venir de sa carte son intégré Microsoft 😱 USB2.0/3.0, FireWire1394, RJ45, PCIxpress, FullAsio3.0, VST2.0/3.0,ect.....) 😵 en gros, il sonne comme un ordinateur portable ! LoL 😹

I wanted one of these to begin with but this dude is playing so beautifully it further let’s me know I need this to add to my modest collection of equipment. This thing is a beast with unlimited sounds.
The Plugin only is an Interface for the Virus. It does not produce any sound on its own. In order to hear sound in your DAW you must have a Virus conected to your PC or Mac. All audio will then be streamed into your DAW via USB.
Isamu27298 you cant even use the software without a virus and you cant really download it without one because user accounts to accesses site are contingent on being a virus owner.
i wish i was stinking rich - id buy every amazing synth ever and sit in a room with them all... alesis andromeda would be high on the list - tons of moog stuff ofc...all dave smiths gear - tempest drum synth thing....
Marcusmiller not a lot of viruses flying off the shelf because of their piano emulation. similarly no one is buying moogs because of their sweet trumpet sounds. you could always try an emu rompler or a roland jv/xv.
It's not a piano or a ROMpler (a synth which uses samples). So while it can do piano-type sounds, one's much closer to the one you've referenced, it can't pretend to sound like a really realistic one. On the other hand, real pianos can't do dream pianos like synths can.
I don't understand the appeal of the Polar. 61 keys and the pitch/mod wheels in a convenient place? I'd get the Keyboard. I know this because I actually did last Thursday. My wife has hardly seen me. I actively dislike the form factor of the Polar.
Bob Rossa Yep. I have a rig of small keyboards and it works great. I'm not a piano player, I'm a synth player, so it's like the days of having a Rogue, SH-101, and a Mono/Poly. Plus if I need big, I midi control it from my studio controller. For stage, and my style, it's ideal.
could u possible compose some music like this for me?...i would love to listen to it while sleeping, have it on a loop and close my eyes while i think of people smiling happy having a good time all in slow motion and the world still standing strong after all whats wrong in the world
What a shitty way to use a Virus. All that Blues or jazz shit or whatever the hell it's called is just disgusting. It's torture for the ears. That crappy kind of music should never be played on this synth. EVER.
