Love to see used machines. Throughout my wheeling career I've owned over 100 used machines, everything from low powered 2 wheel drives through some pretty stout 4 wheel drives. The ones I held onto were all customized the way I wanted them to look and perform. The Rancher is a good platform that's very popular so parts aren't hard to come by. I hope you have more of these upgrades for used machines since most machines are kept for a while and you find out what needs to be improved as you ride. Now I will address the seat cover since thats what I do on a regular basis. Please never use anything generic or fits most atv's nonsense, yes you can get them on line for $20 but sizing and stitching might give you trouble. My first choice would be a Saddlemen brand cover.for many reasons but texture, stitching, fit, and comes with a quarter inch of foam attached to the seat bottom to help hide any small imperfections in the OEM seat foam. Keep it simple and work your way up to Carbon Fiber covers with flame outlined in red or yellow {just got delivered for a couple of 3 wheelers} and enjoy another type of customizing without spending much cash or waking up the neighbors. Got 5 seats waiting for me on my porch and another one in my truck, gotta go. Best of luck to you all.
What a great project series. I have a 2008 Rancher ES myself, and this has inspired me to do refreshing. My rear trunk and winch are still in good share, but I've recently added bar-end mirrors, a GPS/phone mount, and the LED lights. The Kimpex tires you recommended don't seem very price friendly. I recently replaced tires on my Recon and Teryx with SUNF tires straight from the manufacturer. A good variety of sizes/choices, most of them 6-ply, delivered to your door. The Rancher gets new tires in the spring.
It’s pretty crazy what a little work does to an old abused bike. I have an 2001 350 Honda and it was well cared for and still is and it still looks brand new!
Great entry level machines. I had an '08 and '11 Rancher AKA Fourtrax. Got my '08 at almost half off msrp. Guys at the Honda plant were buying them up and selling them at a profit. I guess Honda in South Carolina at the time made too many and couldn't sell them. Sold both of mine last year at a premium.
I recommend you using any kind of 2 cycle oil/ or known as 2 stroke oil in your Stihl chainsaws cause their oil ruins your chainsaws for sure. Valvoline TWC-3 will work in that way better.& Give your chainsaw longer life span to. I just I'd let you know that about their 2 stroke/ 2 cycle oil either kinds of it is bad on your chainsaws. A helpful trick to ya. If you add in 1 once of marvel mystery oil into your Valvoline 2 cycle oil& m after you put the oil cap back on tightly then shake it up we'll. Good or about five minutes to blend it in really good for use. Remember less of that is more power& less problems.& Carbon build up inside of your chainsaws to.& Four wheelers to.
id prefer you guys did a 350 rancher, they by far are still more common on the trails then the 420s. im not saying better either but no one is willing to spend almost twice as much on a used 420 when its almost an identical bike to the 04-06 rancher 350s. its mostly price orientated for budget atv riders so you really should get the cheapest but also most common used bikes.
Wish I could find an older atv. for a reasonable price. Really looking for a John Deere Buck/Trail Buck. But the few I find are beat and/or priced as they were new!
While these builds are very cool, I hope you guys get a few more sponsors so you can mix up the brands and choose stuff that might be better for different applications rather than sticking with all one brand because of the sponsorship. Cant wait for the snowtrax season to start!
@@dirttraxtv yes sorry I meant kimpex. Same with ITP when you guys review tires and wheels. Nothing wrong with treating sponsors well, it keeps the channel going. But more sponsors would mean a little more variation in your builds which would be a little more fun to watch.
