It’s helps tone some of the brassiness caused by elements found in the shower water. But it ultimately shouldn’t change your actual hair color at all if you have the right product and use it properly.
@@VEEO_VEEO No..? You use it whenever you bleach your hair to get the yellow out. I would never use purple shampoo as a natural blonde..?? There's literally no purpose
It doesn't make it lighter. It just tones down the golden tones on natural blonde hair. If you have natural blonde hair avoid purple shampoos. It can ruin the vibrance of the different tones.
Has someone who did this I can confirm in can turn your hair light purple, but it depends on how pigmented your shampoo is, mine was even darker that the one she’s using
I used to mix gentiana in my normal shampoo as a cheap option, and I ended getting blue/purple hair accidentally on many occasions by leaving it just a minute more
A purple toning shampoo is very different than a purple color depositing shampoo. It’s mostly good for blondes because a lot of the time their hair pulls yellow, So a purple toner/hair toning product helps to neutralize it(the same way blue neutralizes orange, And green neutralizes red) but overusing it can cause your hair to appear more dull because ashy colors usually appear darker and don’t have as much light to them. It can also cause buildup so only use it when your hair needs it and clarify it occasionally to get rid of the buildup! It won’t color your hair purple(or whatever color you’re using) tho cause it’s just not made to do that. P.S a color depositing product will probably also not turn your hair a very vibrant color. It’s mainly used to upkeep your already colored hair. But if you wanna have a slight tint for your hair i saw it does work! The color used in color depositing products is always semi-permanent though.
I have a question!! How do you clarify hair? I've been trying to take better care of my hair but I bleach and color it so I want to take an extra step to keeping it nice!!
purple shampoo mostly works on blonde highlights because the processed hair has a higher porosity and is much more likely to soak up and hold onto the pigments in the shampoo compared to healthier, lower porosity natural hair
Also, she said purple shampoo like she should’ve got her hair damp because that way would’ve been easier to completely saturated. I know she put it on dry so that the pigment is saturated but yeah, I feel like if it was just a little wet, it would be easier to saturated with the product.
The reason that it tones is because yellow and purple are contrasting colors and when you put them together, they make gray so with your blonde hair, the purple is gonna make it brighter, but if you put it on a white wig, maybe it’ll turn it purple
sallys brand of shimmering lights is what i used as a teenager for grey/light purple hair. only purple shampoo i found that actually deposited color into my hair.
Yeah,it is a little bit lighter❤ I've always wondered if this shampoo is also for those with natural blonde hair or just for those who have bleached hair. Glad you tried it😊 My hair color is dirty blonde btw :)
Yes it will make it hair less brassy it's not gonna be a huge difference but it will be somewhat noticable to a point where it is worth it but id buy like a smaller bottle and just test try it because all hairs different
It tones it grey actually. If your hair is yellow, purple will combat the yellow and turn it either neutral or cool toned. Purple and yellow mixed gives you grey, specifically this cool hue of purple which has equal parts blue and red most likely for this specific tone, maybe a bit more blue to keep it predominately cool-toned.
Yes, it absolutely can depending on the level of your hair and the product. I do my own hair at home now (I stopped doing hair when I had my son) and I use a thick toning mask after freshening my highlights- I have a purple sheen to the lightest portions of hair for a couple washes until it fades
I've done that before but personally would not recommend it. My hair was DRY af, basically straw. Semi permanent color diluted with conditioner is the way better option.
If you do want to purposefully turn your hair purple use manic panic- I used to empty about half the container out and top it with my favorite conditioner and use that in the shower for my hair. ❤
This is a cool idea! However, I do suggest that you be careful with leaving it in longer than the time recommended on the package. Sometimes, the time is set how it is because the chemicals can damage your hair or even cause chemical burns to the scalp, leading to hair loss. 😅 Edit: I knew someone who used a certain product and left it in long enough that it left burns it's not every product, but it's still good to be careful :)
The reason it makes it lighter is because blondes have yellowish hair and yellow and purple are on opposite sides of the color wheel so it just makes it turns a lighter color same with the one purple toothpaste people sell it works the same way also I love your content keep up the good work
It’s not a “dye” so it’s not meant to strongly cling to the shaft of your hair like dyes do. Purple shampoo just cancels out yellow tones in blond/bleached hair. With your natural color, though, you could dye use just about any shade you want.
It's made for people who dye their hair blonde, some hair tends to (or maybe cheaper dyes) have an orange hue after dyeing. The shampoo gets rid of the orange to a more natural color, more platinum. The shampoo did what it was supposed to do.
It can turn your hair purple if it’s over bleached and porous enough (believe me I’ve been there 😅) if it’s a strong, pigmented shampoo it can leave a lilac shade stain but will typically only last for one wash then fades to white :p I believe this toning pigment is a different type of pigment than what they use in purple dyes
i think this depends on the person because one of my friend always ends up with pale lilac lowlights from getting distracted with toner in her hair 😭😭😭
Purple shampoo has small amounts of toner to tone out yellow coloring in hair. If you leave it in for too long it can give a purplish hue onto your hair but it will wash out after like another 2 washes
Yes it does, my mum who already has white hair used it thinking her hair would get whiter, I don't know how long she left it on for but when she rinsed it off her hair was pastel purple
Your hair would have to be lightened and then toned to match Elsa's. But I'm interested to see if leaving the purple shampoo in for 5 hours will make it look grayish since it neutralizes the yellow tones.
i’ve used it to make my bleached hair a light silvery purple but it does dry your hair out so i used a hair mask as well. got a lot of compliments on it
It’s called optical brightners that’s why most cleaning things are blue. Long story short it tints it very very very slightly blue and gives the apperiance of it being a lighter/ brighter color
It turned my hair this really beautiful lavender color once. It was like a light purple on the ends and it faded into white. I wish I knew how to duplicate that because it was extraordinarily beautiful and so many people complimented my hair when it was like that. That was by far my favorite hair color to have, it was just this super pretty light purple that turned into silver and then white. I miss it so much
If you want to try this again for a longer period of time, do it with a purple conditioner or a purple hair mask. You'll be less likely to dry/damage you're hair. Also when rinsing it out, use cold water not hot.
Just mix gentian violet (water based) with a water in a huge bowl and submerge your hair in it for a minute max. I used to do that instead of usingpurple shampoos, when I was bored of gray I was getting temporary purple xb
ive done this! i have albinism so my hair is naturally white, and leaving the purple shampoo sitting in my hair for about 20 minutes (i think) made it turn an interesting silver/lilac colour. (i am a socially anxious mess though and was terrified to have my hair showing in school the next day just in case people would think i looked welrd)
Well, there is shampoo for that effect... just as they have shampoo with other color additives. However, yes using toning products (made to cancel, not color) can leave a "hue" if left on long enough or by adding heat.
girlie pop that’s just a toner there is no actual hair dye in there; just an fyi to everyone, over-toning your hair WILL turn it grey overtime (I work at a salon)
