I have been acclimating my corals the same way for years in my reef aquarium! However many reef fanatics acclimate new corals a little bit differently and World Wide Corals gives us a run down on how to acclimate corals quick and easy in your reef tank. Acclimating corals the WWC way will definitely save time, but what do you think?
In this video I talk about how i have always acclimated corals and the way World Wide Corals Recommends.
How do you Acclimate new corals to your reef tank? Lets build this community I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below

I do the drip acclimation with the coral in a small plastic bag floating in sump and coral dip added to the bag sometime in between. After 10- 15 mins take the bag out use a baster or pipette to flush out any pest and do a quick 30 second flush with fresh water and put in the tank

I always dripped, but WWC knows more about corals than I ever will so I'm going to follow their advice.

Chris Meckley from ACI Aquaculture doesn’t even do temperature acclimation. He just plops his corals immediately to his system. So did Jake Adams from Reef Builders.

i guess if i was receiving 25 cases of corals i would do the same, but a few frags i think thats a whole other ball game. better safe than sorry !!!

@@claudiamelfi3882 No, he found that dipping new corals actually increase the mortality rate. Check Reefbum podcast. The man is a genius.

This is new news! I just bought some fish and they said the same thing about their corals! I have always floted them in sump and slowly added some water that way they. I wasnt dipping them because of fear but inspecing but now I am back to dipping! Defietly never saw a need for a slow drip acclimation!

Test the packaging water… How does it compare to yours? If it’s relatively close in PH & DKH, there isn’t a need for a long acclimation. If the parameters are far apart, it would be best to have a separate tank/bowl/bucket that could be a halfway point for the coral over a day or two… assuming you have a spare heater & powerhead. The corals can deal with low light for a few days… temp, flow, stability… not so much. That said, if you can quarantine, do so! If alkalinity is over 1 dkh different, and you don’t acclimate somehow… you could kill the coral. Try to never raise the alkalinity on a coral more than 1 dkh per day. Having a cheap heater, a tiny powerhead, and a bucket are invaluable. You could also do a water change with higher alk salt to raise the tank alk closer to the shipping water, if your tank has lower alk. Attack the difference from both angles.

I used to drip acclimate but I’d put a heating pad underneath the bucket to keep the temperature consistent. My tank is too full to add anything to anymore haha
@TheCoralReefTalk
@TheCoralReefTalk 6 месяцев назад
Nice. I like that, the heating pad would definitely help keep the temperature stable during the transition. A Full tank is a happy tank! What type of corals does your tank consist of?

Never dripped in my life 50...50. But I allways use revive just temp float bag for 20 min

Not saying I disagree, but after 24 hours in a bag does 30 mins to dip/drip make a difference?

Did you forget to link the video in post? I see this a lot. Pointing to a corner with no pop up. Drives me a little crazy. But anyhow, I’ll look for the video.

Unless they come from a very trusted source I wouldn’t put them in my display. I agree about not drip acclimating them but definitely temp. Acclimation is important. 👍

There are way better places to get corals from. I wouldn't trust Vic, or anyone else from there. I've seen him give terrible advice. It is all marketing and a big social media presence. I'm good on anything from them.
