My Luxman was packed the same way, fit and finish can’t be beat, here in Canada the prices for these Intergraded are not as expensive as the US when you take in the exchange rate. It’s a shame more can’t enjoy these amazing products. 😎

I have this amp and absolutely love it. I choose it over the E-800 class A amp. The E-5000 sounds just as refined but with better control over my B&W 803D4. I wish Accuphase would bring out some more minimalist models with less features and better pricing.

I’m usually not a big fan of gold or champagne coloured audio gear but Accuphase is the exception. Good looking integrated

I own the E-280, had Hegel H190 before it, as well as a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II tube amp. The E-280 is simply on another level of sound quality and build quality compared to anything else I have owned. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts guys!

A dealer in the US has the E 5000 new for $18,950. The DAC is another $1950 and the phono $1495. The pricing here for Accuphase makes McIntosh look inexpensive. I’m looking forward to a comparison video. Great video Adrian 👍

I wish they would let you buy non JP voltage versions in JP. Price difference pays for a nice trip to mt Fuji.

I think many dealers list RRP. You can get a better deal if you negotiate, including even getting the DAC board thrown in.

Really nice. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on how the Accuphase sound compares to the higher end solid state McIntosh integrateds. I also agree with you that the style of speaker binding posts on this unit is inconvenient for people who prefer bare wire or spades. One other thing - many higher end receivers and integrateds have the front panel door that drops down. Back in the 90s, some manufacturers, such as Onkyo, added gentle lighting behind the door, that would come on when opened. This was a nice touch, because it allowed the user to make adjustments in a dark room. So if I was showing a movie, I could adjust the sound, without turning on the theater lights. Not sure why manufacturers abandoned this feature - but I still think it's a good idea. Thanks for the video!

I’m looking forward to all of your Accuphase reviews. My office system is an E-800 with the DAC-60 and I love it. The E-800 is a special piece. For streaming with it I use an Innuos ZENith Mk3. Regarding the binding posts, this was the first time I’ve encountered this design. On this system I use Kubala-Sosna Elation! speaker cables and the binding posts work very well with them.

I’ve been considering this one or the 4000 model. The 5000 is $24,000 in Australia, the 4000 is $18,000. Both are overpriced in my opinion but nice amps. The 4000 includes a free DAC board worth $2,000 at the moment so I think the 4000 is the better “value”. The Rotel Michi X3 is a more appropriately priced amp at half the price which I will also have a listen to. Interestingly the Accuphase treble adjusts the 3Kh instead of up around 10Kh. So it’s more of a upper mid adjustment.

Thank you Adrian for the unboxing of this E 5000 Amp. IMHO this looks almost like jewelry. Can't wait for the review video after burn in. Well the speaker terminals on the back panel aren't even close to the quality of McIntosh. Thank you again, TMP from N.J.

Love my E-5000 paired with B&W 804 D4. Peak power is actually 20% more than their conservatively rated power spec closer to 300W

No HDMI E-ARC input on expansion board. I like using HDMI to carry digital signal because it holds a higher resolution than Optical or Coaxial. Especially because upgraded HDMI Cables are available on the market. Audioquest eARC Thunderbird in specific. I tried optical plastic vs glass, coaxial cheap vs high end, and HDMI cheap vs high end and the HDMI gave the clearest sound especially with instruments positioned far back on the sound stage. Horns sounded well positioned and in sharp focus with the HDMI carrying the signal from the transport to the preamp. The difference was very noticeable and not subtle.

I demo'd this unit and can tell you that it's beautiful. However I ended up purchasing the McIntosh MA12000 integrated amp which to me sounded a lot better musically. While both units have very good imaging, I find that the McIntosh is more dynamic throughout. Plus the McIntosh has a presence that is much more appealing and unapologetically McIntosh!. I'm very happy with my McIntosh but there is nothing wrong with this Accuphase.

Very 1970's, at least the front-end/user-interface. The back end too is very 1970's-ish, except for the plug-in modules.

Really looking forward to a McIntosh comparison as I have the 12000 pre with 611s. Not sure why people don’t like unboxings. I rather enjoy them and really appreciate your continued candor. For the audience that doesn’t like the unboxing, they don’t have to watch, yeah?

Very nice amp. You talk about something that is miss understood, power. People think that having twice the power output that the speakers will perform double the noise, it would not be. To increase 3db you need to double the power. I came from the Devialet 440Pro Ci to the integrated darTZell CTH-8550mk2 that is less than half the power output and I don’t fell that or for more than the 200 or 230w at 8ohms that my amp have.

Regarding the loudness… Interesting because I find at night when it’s dark my rig sounds its best. Sight processing duties can get reassigned to hearing.

i love Accuphase, yet, the later models seem to have a 'sweetened' sound, which to my taste is a downside. I own a modified Accuphase, where most of the solutions to achieve that sound are removed, and it left a very clean, pure and neutral poweramp, that is not 'overpunchy' like some 'American' sounding stuff. But I understand they like and need their brand this way, but I like the basics of their amps way more.

Accuphase is Japanese and is in the High End class of amplifiers, Japanese men are fanatical about their audio and it's quality and that's why Japanese men seem to be desiring top model J.B.L restored by Ken Rik of Japan powered a lot of the time by Accuphase and McIntosh, McIntosh is built in U.S.A with same level of attention to quality and sound as Accuphase however have different presentations ...I own a Sansui Receiver model 7000 one of their finest from 1971 and I absolutely love the sound it produces it is magnificent

You mean bi wire with a+b speakers outputs. bi amp is with 2 power amps😄...the E5000 has only 2 output stages not 4 😄

@@adrianlow2114 a lot of models can be converted internally. But as someone else pointed out - no service on overseas models so if a custom IC dies, you're in big trouble. The 20-30yo models can often be converted (also power amps) and are very cheap in JP in comparison to Europe, even after adding tax and shipping to the equation.

When Adrian tapped on the top of the case it sure didn't sound very well dampened/solid to me. I wouldn't have mentioned it, but to say that it felt solid?🙄 The side tap especially 🤔🤫🤪 For the price at least? That's while listening with very revealing headphones.🙄 I'm sure it sounds great though.😬

Those terrible speaker terminals , for the price and quality of Accuphase you would assume they would go all out and use W.B.T , Anyone who knows audio will tell you that Accuphase is extremely similar to Luxman in build and sound signature, The original engineers from the beginning days at Kenwood left Kenwood and started Accuphase , Very expensive however has a following of extreme audiophiles and listener's ....gorgeous and well made
