Let's take a close up look at Accurascale's first steam locomotive!

After announcing the GWR Manor back in February 2021, Accurascale have finally delivered their first 00 gauge steam locomotive and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
Today I’m taking a look at Dinmore Manor, just one of many brand new Manors that Accurascale have recently released and I’m incredibly grateful to them for providing this model for today’s review video. It’s also a sound fitted model too so I can really put this loco through it’s paces and check out everything it has to offer.
With a mostly metal body, tons of detail and additional features such as firebox flicker and built in stay alive capacitors, on paper this new Manor from Accurascale looks like an incredible model. Will it live up to the incredibly high standards that Accurascale have set itself with the Deltic and Class 37? Or are steam locos just harder to get right?
Stay tuned to find out as I put the Manor to the test!

Very nice video, you'll be pleased to know it's even better value at £169.99 for DC rather than £179.99 😅

The updated Bachmann 9F has the matt finish on the smoke box
@_girltype

the matte finish on the smokebox feels like something everyone should be doing, it really sells the illusion of the paintwork - especially on the boiler - being much glossier than it actually is. looks absolutely beautiful running on the layout

Definitely, it's one of those things that I've seen countless times on real locomotives but until now I've never thought about it on models. Just shows the attention to detail Accurascale have put into their locos and rolling stock! Thanks for watching 😃

I'd heartily agree with that! I'd always recommend someone try and have a look at one in real life (Accurascale usually have the samples at exhibitions) or at least check out multiple videos to see it in different situations before buying. Thanks for watching 😃

Certainly a great looking locomotive, Accurascale really do a creative detailed job that will keep the rivet counters happy. Have to say that Pitley is really looking terrific, looks so realistic and so nicely detailed.

Very good review, I have Torquay Manor in BR lined green they are excellent models. Good shout about the DCC sound fitted price being the same as some other DCC ready models, does go to show these high prices that others are putting out are not so justifiable after all.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 9 месяцев назад
I don't think it's as simple as that. Take Hornby or Bachmann for example, they're much bigger companies with bigger overheads and huge ranges. Everything they do has to be a commercial success on a much larger scale. There's no denying that Accurascale are disrupting the market in a good way but I think there's more to it than just greed when it comes to the prices that others set. Thanks for watching 😃

I've had the sound fitted Torquay Manor for a few months now, and it really is a stunning model - well worth what I paid for it. Unfortunately, I've not been able to run it much, since I've not got a layout at this moment in time - I have completed the plans for my next layout, however, so hope to get the boards made, trackwork laid and trains running by the end of the year. The modular model railway build Series should provide me some considerable assistance with that process.

Excellent review of the Manor, I think it looks great and sounds great and looked brilliant going around pitley, bit annoying about the front pony truck but it's a minor fault 😀
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 9 месяцев назад
I'm not even sure I would consider it a fault, it's more like a design choice. At what point do we have to accept that, if we want the detail to be finer, the layouts have to match the standard to be capable of running them... that's a genuine question by the way and one that I don't have an answer to currently. Thanks for watching 😃
@timsully8958
@timsully8958 9 месяцев назад
That is a cracking looking model all round, and I agree 100% about the smoke box! If you are getting a higher end loco you want higher end detail and that is what this is blessed with. And as you say, for a fair bit less than other manufacturers with less on offer! 🤔 I shall refrain from getting one for now, but eventually…she’ll, it’s inevitable really! 😉 Cheers mate, have a great weekend 👍🍻🍀

Definitely, it's amazing what Accurascale have managed to pull out for their very first steam loco. From what I've heard they plan on having these in the range for a long time so you should have no trouble picking one up at a later date. Thanks for watching 😃

Well, That Model Railway Guy, it looks like you have a real gem for your layout here! To me, it looks, runs and sounds every bit the real manor. Even the price seems reasonable, a bit of an issue with the 2MT. I see what you mean with the pony truck. At 14:12, it appears to be off the rails, too. Overall, though, an exquisite model. I wonder if anyone sells headboards in this scale. The superb virtual manor has them, Cambrian Coast, Torbay, Mayflower and so on, and they look fabulous. BTW, your layout is looking terrific! Wonderful backdrop.

I believe Accurascale do provide headboards with some of the Manors - not this particular one so I guess it's only for certain periods? Check out Light Railway Stores though, they do all sorts of headboards and number/nameplates (including custom ones) for models in all scales. Thanks for watching

Nice review and nice video in General. Have you bought yourself a Siphon G coach? What do you think of it? The loco is a great model but I model Era 10 and 11 so it doesn't fit my railway. Accurascale, make wonderful locos in general so if people wanted to get a loco from them I don't think they will have any complaints.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 9 месяцев назад
I actually did a review of the Siphon earlier this year: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8e6BnWR8fF0.html Dinmore Manor is preserved so perhaps a rule one rail tour could be arranged 😉 But I agree, Accurascale have definitely proved themselves to be capable of putting together great models. Thanks for watching 👍

Is there anyone with a sound fitted model that can tell me what functions F5, F6, F10, F12 and whatever there comes after F18 are? I unfortunately don't have a sheet with all the sound functions because I've bought an analog one first (the dcc sf one was already sold out), and putted a accurascale sounddecoder in later on. I can't find the sheet anywhere and luckily this great video helped a lot to find most of the things.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 2 месяца назад
I have them listed as follows: F5 - Heavy Mode F6 - Light Engine Mode F10 - Cylinder Cocks F12 - Uncouple Shuffle F19 - Flange Squeal F20 - Fade Out Sound Basically these are all sounds that only play while the loco is in motion in someway - hence why they weren't featured in the run down of functions. Those names are just what I have them listed as so they may not be the official terms. But you can always get in touch with Accurascale for an official list, their customer service is pretty good and I imagine it wouldn't be to hard to send over. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

I don't tend to notice a huge amount of difference with that function on most of my sound models to be honest. Though with the Manor it might be more obvious with a larger speaker, I'm not sure though. Thanks for watching 😃

Probably not, I'm guessing they're aimed more at the toy & train set market rather than those of us building exhibition layouts. For me, it's not worth buying them just to do a review video, especially since I already have much nicer industrial locos. Thanks for watching 👍

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Possibly, yes. If I did buy it for that I would want to fit a Seuthe smoke device so that I could have imitation smoke coming out the chimney. These trains tend to have two locos nowadays so I am also looking at a Judith Edge kit of a North Eastern Railway 1500v dc loco from the Shildon electrified line 1915 - 1935
