This has to be one of the simplest meals to create, CHeese And Potato Pie. Its not strictly a pie but that's what it is called.
Here are the ingredients to our Cheese and Potato Pie With Onions and tomatoes.
About 6 medium potatoes,
250 grams of cheddar cheese, we used extra mature,
2 white onions,
Some sliced tomatoes,
Some butter for the mash and some milk.
We pressure cooked our potatoes in our Cosori pressure cooker 5.7 liter amzn.to/3OLxGzK for 7 minutes.
cooked the completed pie in our Cosori Dual Blaze Air Fryer 6.4 liter Air Fryer amzn.to/3TPJnay for 15 minutes at 180 Deg C

Of truth were told the basic plain complexities are healthier and easy to prepare. I love cooking potatoes in my pressure cookers I only add a cup of water to a 5lb bag cooking 5-6minutes. I cook the full bag mash and use ice cream scoop to portion freeze. Husband loves combination of mashed tur nip and potatoes cooked and mashed together. As there's only two of us now a once a month cook of 5 lb potatoes does us almost a month while a turnip and 5b bag of potatoes again I've cream scooped as portions and flash freeze. Once bagged all you need to us take out as many portions as needed.

People forget how a few simple ingredients can be turned into something so tasty. So many cheffy cooking shows which I think are more about the chef showing their skills rather than being easy to make recipes. It's why Delia has always been so popular.

This recipe brought back fond memories of when I was a youngster, my mother used to do this for our dinner only she used to use tinned tomatoes on the bottom, then the cheesy mash on top. I think I will try it the way you have done it this weekend, I'm really looking forward to it now, another great British family recipe Sharon and Martin (notice I put the bosses name first, lol), keep these lovely family dishes coming people, I love simple easy to cook very tasty meals, who doesn't right? This is one of my favourite meals, have cooked it for years. I mostly have it with salad but I also like it with baked beans. I sometimes put slices of tomato on the top, I never thought of putting a layer of tomatoes in the middle, I will definitely try that for extra flavour. Glad you are feeling better Sharon. I had never heard of cheese and potato before my friend gave me the recipe during the pandemic... She had been given it as part of a lunches at school.... This is something similar to a dish they taught us to make in what was called Housewifery in school in Birmingham in the 1950s,a baked potato split open the potato filling removed mashed with cheese,butter,salt,and pepper,put back into the potato shell,and baked till crispy,then a piece of tomato stuck into the top,and you had a potato boat.

Great stuff! Still make a similar version I learnt at school in the 70's. We didn't mix the onion in the potato, but fried it separately then added the skinned sliced tomato. We then put half the spud/cheese mixture in the dish, spread the onion/tom mixture over that, then spread the rest of the potato mixture. We topped with grated cheese and sliced tomato...going to have to add onion to the potato, sounds delicious! Thanks 😊

I would just like to say that I have worked in the catering industry since I was 16 years old for work experience ( way back in the day ) I worked for a high end catering company learning on the job with top chefs, they used to make a cheese ‘N’ onion pie 🥧 with mashed potatoes & onions 🧅 they always added kerrygold butter to the mashed potatoes as they called it gold of butters ( from grass fed cows with a taste unbelievable) they also made the short crust pastry with the kerrygold butter it was to die for.. in my opinion you can’t get better than mashed potatoes mixed with onions & cheese for a gorgeous tasting pie.

Hi Sharon and Martin, this is one of my faves too! Add a tablespoon of flour to mix and swap white onion for spring onion, add breadcrumbs and make into burgers. Shallow fry, lush! Add Smokey bacon lardons and top with breadcrumbs as a pie like you did, amazing English breakfast side. Omg I LOVE your simple cooking it’s what we do as skint English mums n dads! Lol

Following your first recipe I’ve which was fab I now bring it to the boil in the Ninja and take the pot out which helps the cooking process add yoghurt starter between 40 and 45c and put it back in and start fermenting process. I’ve found this much quicker. I also take 3tbsn of the yoghurt once ready and freeze it to use for the next batch, just defrost in the fridge which saves the cost of buying a pot. My experimentation is all down to you so thank you 😁👍

Every morning my other half asks what I'm cooking this evening. My response "let me get started with work first". I saw this video of yours late morning and thought I'm going for that. Wev'e got it with sausages, petis pois and mushroom sauce and about to eat soon. I added a leek and some garlic as had those to hand. Good to see Sharon looking a lot brighter. Don’t knock simple food l make what my mum and grandma made there were no take outs in those days and they didn’t have the money. My sons eat out but mention cottage pie or hot pot with a crust beetroot and red cabbage there are never any leftovers!!

We love cheese and potato pie I do cook the chopped onions with my potatoes.. it freeze well in foil loaf containers just don't put the cheese on top .We like it with brown sauce and bread and butter.. never cooked it in airfryer so going to try it Hope you are fighting fit soon Sharon and Thanks to both of you for all your vlogs xx

Mum used to make an amazing cheese & onion Pie... In the 80's cheese was expensive.. She went to Wythenshawe market and got a huge block.. It was like the kitchen was Cheese World! ;)
