I like how Wizard’s intro hints at the gimmick of the stealth aircraft by having Wizard 5 talk despite there seemingly only being 4 aircraft

The squadrons and their intros are a big part of what made this game great and memorable. Still love playing it to this day. Gault’s intro is my favorite

Osea seems to like to use Magic-themed Squad names- Wizard, Sorcerer, and now Mage Squadron in AC7.

Osea uses mythic creatures and magical beings Belka uses colors in German Sapin uses medieval arms Ustio is big on Norse motifs

The cinematography of these intros is incredible. Especially Gault's, the way the camera zooms away from their formation... chills all around

I think ESPADA squadrons intro is so badass. Espada 1 is using a Draken which is a much older plane than the Rafale that Espada 2 uses. It shows that Espada 1 is a veteran ace who is teaching the much newer but still deadly Espada 2 yet prefers his older technology plane since this is set earlier in the AC timeline. The writing in this series is fantastic!

arguably the best AC game in the whole series.

Mercenary squadrons all sound glory/blood hungry, and knight squadrons sound elevated and professional, but soldier squadrons sound very battle focused; and both Gelb and Gault are just grim serious...

2 generations on and it still looks great

I find it interesting how most belkan squadron names are more or less German in origin Rot=Red Grun(Grün)=Green Schwarze=black Gelb=Yellow Silber=silver And so on...

god we need a AC0 remaster

"Let the victor be justice". So epic! Namco could release a remastered version of its past games, so we can wait Ace Combat 7 savoring some dogfights!!! :)

Wizard squadron was excellent use of mixed aircraft.

I always liked the bell toll that Schnee and Silber get as they enter. Seemed to make their entrances more dramatic.

Imagine flying an F4 Phantom II against highly modern aircraft. The fucking balls.

6th Air Division 66th Air Force Unit. Not very subtle, are they?

A remake of this masterpiece with each squadron getting a personal OST would be the dream.

Something I never quite noticed is how the backdrop and atmosphere changes as the game progresses from clear and energetic to dark and serious.

Gelb is the most underrated squadron in the game

These are so badass. I really want to get into this series even more.

I must say that Ace Combat 5 has the best story while Ace Combat Zero had best combat structure. Area B7R "The Round Table" is the greatest combat zone. I remember after completing the game as a Knight, Soldier, and Mercenary this unlocked B7R, where you could fight all the squadrons in the game in a test of skill and endurance. This final mode made me grin like the Joker. 10/10

I love how it gives you a hint with Wizard Squadron because you hear a Wizard 5, but then PJ says there are 4 of them.

What I think is cool about Wizard/Gault/Sorcerer is that everyone else kinda had something going against them, whether it be logistics, poor timing, etc. Those three didn’t. They were ready, and knew you were coming, and they came at you with all they got. Pretty cool if true

The color pattern of the F-15 MTD's for the Sorcerer Squadron are my favorite.

As cool as all of the other Ace squadron intros are, the introduction of Galm Team to the deep, rumbling of the bass violin? I think? is probably the best in my opinion.

This was the first ace combat game I completed and the ace combat that made me fell even deeper in love with the franchise.

You could actually hear on the coms 'wizard 5(or was it 6?)' implying that there's actually more than 4 crafts

It would be better if you took the F-15C Eagle for Cipher in the start

Played this masterpiece a long time ago.. cant remember exactly which enemy SQ is the hardest to shoot down. Either Schwarze or Gault. But oh boy, Gault got the best intro!

Took me until now to realize the irony of Operation Thunderbolt. If you go Mercenary route, you get a head-on fight from Sorcerer Team; but if you go Knight route, you get Wizard Team, who bring in stealth fighters to try and tip the fight in their favor.

In the XB-O mission when I saw the plane I was like, "What the Hell is that? Is it similar to the B-2?" But it took me a lot of time to destroy the damn thing if you use the special weapon with multi-TGT along with the normal missile and those escorts the The Espada team of the Sapin Air Force I said to myself " 1st I'll destroy those two and then the giant aircraft"

i really like how, since Sorcerer and Wizard are part of the same air division, their emblems are really similar to each other, altough i think someone screwed up because i dont think both squadrons could be the 32nd tactical fighter SQ at the same time, maybe 32nd and 33rd?

Gelb 2 during interview: Our aircraft never received basic maintenance and we were used to it Gelb team approaching: *does maneuvers*

ACZ is still my favorite Ace Combat game to date, including the legendary squadron intros. Felt like you're a true war hero after completing the game. The squadron intros felt like the equivalent of dynamic intros in Yakuza/Like a Dragon series as well hahaha!

Those paint jobs are awesome. For me its Grun and Gault. Rots cool too.

I didn't realize until much later that Wizard and Sorcerer are from the same unit, 8th AD 32nd TFS. Which isn't that far-fetched, as a typical squadron can have as many as 24 aircraft, separated into three to four flights.

So I've not actually played Zero, but I've played some of the other games and know vaguely the story behind the Belkan War. Can someone explain why you're fighting Osean squadrons during this though?

I thought it was cool that if you played the Round Table mission you had a chance of being intercepted by ROT or GRUN.
