Ace did basically nothing on "his" new album 10000 Volts. It is basically a Steve Brown album. He made 95% Fair use. Original video here from three sides of the coin found here: • Ace Frehley 10,000 Vol...
Exactly. All the people that hate on him. And especially all the hate that Paul Stanley gets , I'll be devastated the day that any one of the original four go if I don't go first
No shit- talk about using him for publicity then dogging him- lol good God. It's basically him talking about he great he is and how he saved Ace. Vinnie saved Kiss-Steve Brown saved Ace
@@stf259 who the fuck is Steve Brown? A lot of people heard of Ace Frehley. Steve's name won't be remembered, if he is it won't be for the music but rather how he treated Ace. Some people just suck man.
Right on bud - Ace was the first person to say it's a wig during recent radio interviews. He is the most down to earth dude for also being the Spaceman.
Paul and Gene Simmons have their own hair and still wear wigs during their performance. They were all genius enough to think ahead back then to be virtually immortal by wearing those wigs even back then probably anticipating they would get old and may be bald. So I had no problem with the wigs but I always wondered if a swore a wig or not outside of his make up.
KISS's costumes aren't even original. Patti LaBelle was the first during the Acid Rock 60's era. 3 Black gals dressed like Ace the Spaceman. It's pretty cool to see. The Clothing Designer who worked for Patti was hired by KISS to do the same.
A few grumpy old men that are self declared 'experts' are bashing Ace who did 'nothing' on his new album..... except for singing and playing guitar. Isn't that what he does ?
Steve Brown is not a rock star... only in his own mind. Trixter was awful. I feel like Brown took advantage of Ace on this album, pumping it up to him to make him think it was a lot more than it is... mostly a subpar Steve Brown album... you know, Steve Brown, the rock star. And what else, oh yes, the lord blessed him. Yeah Steve, the lord blessed you but what about those sick kids with cancer? Yeah, the lord has no time for them... to busy blessing you to make so-so albums. This guy is a legend in his own mind.
Truth hurts. Btw, if you know ANYTHING about Steve....his 2 fave bands are KISS and VH....be thankful he was with Ace ....Ave has a GREAT record and THAT's what is important. Steve is the best person to work on his solo career since Todd Howarth and it show's. Rather see Ace work with Steve than that tribute act to Keith Richards named Richie Scarlett. So how many records you produce? How many times you play the Garden. How is he 2 faces? He told the truth ...he did not write the title if the video ...that's the 3 Side clowns. ACE has a GREAT record ....is ge singing on it? Playing on it? Yes ...have any clue how making a record works? No ....he told the truth ....
People have always dogged KISS, I remember their first show at the Coventry, when the New York Times music review "expert" wrote: "Last night, I had the displeasure of watching and listening to the worst band I have ever witnessed, they have two choices, either quit the music business or starve". 5 years later they were selling out Madison Square Garden so fast they had to do a second show. By 1978 they were voted "The most Popular Band on the Planet" in the Gallup Poll, even surpassing the Beatles attendance records. They were the underdogs that made it, and for some reason that makes a lot of people angry, I guess because they never could
these guys that host the show love kiss but the main loves to make fun of ace and peter .i watched the show in years past i dont want to anymore i just clicked to see wath steve said.never liked trixter but his new band is tokiyo motor fist and they have a damn good singer i think it tim poley, but in this interview steve sounds like a child and a fool.
Wow, this Steve Brown guy has quite the opinion of himself, I can't listen to him talk more than a minute. I had no clue who the guitar player from trixter was/is until now. I remember hearing trixter, but nothing special enough to know the guitarist. On his website he describes himself as a "master guitarist" who led the "mighty" trixter to a record deal and sold out arena tours. He's also one of the music industries most sought after talents with personal endorsements from Eddie Van Halen. Then goes on about pulling off something never done before.... a fill in gig with Def Leppard with only 24 hrs notice. "This has never been done before in the illustrious world of Rock". OK Pause. The "Mighty" thing... Van Halen was mighty, they had a "master guitarist".. They sold out arena tours... Mighty is not the word for Trixter, maybe for the hairspray they used, but not the band. If trixter had a "master guitarist" his name would be remembered, and if they sold out arena tours they would have headlined at least one arena show. The "Never been done" thing.. Almost every guitarist, bassist, drummer, singer...etc. who's gigged (or is gigging) regularly in local rock music scenes, from dive bars to rock clubs.. has pulled that off more than a few times without thinking it's something special. If this guy had half the talent he thinks/says he has, Ace, or any band not at the Metallica/OZZY level wouldn't be able to afford him. Videos like this don't matter, neither does anything Brown's whining about, fact or fiction. After reading the massive amount of b.s. he shoveled on his website, I'm leaning towards fiction. Regardless, ask any 10 fans of Rock n Roll over 25 today if they have ever heard of Ace Frehley and 9 of them will say yes, then ask them if they've heard of Steve Brown and they'll say who?. You could ask 100 80s hairband fans from that era the same, maybe one or two would know Brown, if you're lucky. Like him or not, Ace was one of the most popular guitarists out there
Joey Jordison (RIP) was picked to fill in as Metallica's drummer probably 2 or 3 hours before their Download 04 gig, why does Steve think filling in for Def Lep with a full day to learn stuff is so impressive?
Ace paid his dues literally! Love it or hate it, I’m happy he can make some $$$ to finally call it a day and enjoy whatever time he has left! Not many of us will make it to 72, let alone still playing guitar and performing!
No. But I wish he would have kept a better eye on his money when he was younger, so he wouldn't have to embarrass himself and his legacy, the way he's doing now. He's 72, wearing a wig, Walmart T-shirts, and blue painted fingernails....which I assume hides the alcohol related yellowing. His playing is sloppy and uninspired. His voice is, and has always been, TERRIBLE. Trading his dignity and legacy, for "sold out" shows at bars and probably wedding receptions.
@@jimdavidson7771 he never wanted to sing, Paul and Gene made him. His record came out in Walmart, and he bought a t shirt while he was there. All rock and roll stars drink and do drugs🤘🎸, that's what they do, Gene has sex, that's his drug. 🤘🤣
Steve said he brought in the majority of the song IDEAS. He also commented extensively in promotional interviews for months prior to the album's release, and after, about how he and Ace collaborated on the finished product. How anyone gets from that that "Ace Did nothing" on an album that features him singing, and soloing liberally, on every song I do not know.
HE wants his 15 min of fame. As others have pointed out. Nobody has ever heard about this guy.¨ That being said.Aces albums suck ass..He haven't had a decent songs since Frehley's comet. He keeps naging on how Paul & gene kept him down, but it's been more than a decade.Shouldn't he have come up with something worth while,by now? He was great i kiss. But outside he isn't all that,
@@haydenmalesky2518 Nope.Back than he had rock soldiers.Which we thought was awesome, way back than. And then he had the cover Into the night/there in the night
@@johnnyguitar6639 I’d give a re listen to his recent albums starting from 2009’s Anomaly. There’s plenty of good stuff on albums from that one up until recently with 10,000 Volts.
@@haydenmalesky2518 NO they're absolute shit.So is his latest album,.The dude has lost the ability to write a decent song. His latest album just proves my point. But he has spent all his money and lives of royalties from his kiss days.So he had to do something.
The shuffle beat, opening guitar riff and video for Walking on the Moon are by far the best things about the new album. The production and tones are excellent as well
Wow big surprise here that show has a history of being Gene and Paul kool aid drinkers bashing ACE and Peter for years now. They just can't stand to see ACE do well have to put a NEGATIVE spin on everything.
I can honestly say that I did not like this album the first time I listened to it. However upon further listens I can say that it grows on you. It's one of my favorites in the car now.....crank it up !
I knew right away Ace didnt have much to do with the album when he was on Eddie Trunk. Eddie asked him about a songwriter on the Album and Ace didnt even know who he was. 🤣
Steve has got to get off his high horse. He’s talking like trixter was the best band out there and honestly they never even had a movement here in Canada. People don’t even know who they are and the song Cherry Medicine sucks dude, worst song on the album.
It's funny that all of the songs on the album are about Ace's ex fiancee that he broke up with over a month ago...she was good friends with that creep Steve? Weird?
Lol all the Ace defenders in the comments. I swear Ace could release an album of fart noises and people would still be like "The one and only spaceman! Haters gonna hate!"
Well that explains why the record doesn't sound anything like Ace's style of guitar writing! Funny thing is that the song Ace wrote "Back In My Arms Again" to me is the best song on the album. I wonder why?🤔 Nothing will ever come close to Ace's 1978 Solo Album! He wanted to prove himself to Gene and Paul that he was more than just a guitar player and he did just that with flying colors.
Brown is a tool. I’ll tell you how popular Trixter was. In Vegas their show at Thomas and Mack pavilion was so empty they were giving tickets away before the show started. The parking lot was only half full when they came on. Brown doing an album with Ace was his biggest moment.
Well, Cherry Medicine is one of the best ones so if Ace helped with that, I'm good. It's a good record, and good for Ace. It's easy for everyone here to tear the guy down, but where are all their records? They don't have any.
All "we" are trying to say is that Ace has become like Meat Loaf. Jim Steinman wrote almost all songs Meat Loaf ever sang. That makes him a performer not an artist
I like the first Trixter album a lot. I was lucky enough to see them a few years back and they sounded fine, but by no means as good or memorable as some of their contemporaries such as Tyketto or Danger Danger. So whilst Steve is undoubtedly talented, he does come across as rather full of himself in this interview, and I don’t think it does him any favours.
love tyketto they are a great band and david vaughn is a very underated singer. the song forever young is better than anything steve brown has ever done.
After a few listens, it doesn't even sound like Ace played the solos on this album either. Not his tone, not his vibrato. It's not really an Ace album.....sad.
100% agree, this guy taking all the credit for producing an album that don't even sound like ace, is fricken slow as and then comes on here big noting himself.. what a wank
@@wczobull. Evis didn't write a thing but only a fool would say he didn't create art. Kubrick never wrote one movie, no original music. How many classic Disney movies were pre-written.
Interesting, what I got from this was that Steve Brown was responsible for +/- 95% of the ideas for songs, not that "Ace did basically nothing on "his" new album". Did he indicate that Ace didn't play or sing?
He played take after take until they could piece together a song. Vocals courtesy of Autotune Ace. Listen to him present day live and tell me I’m wrong
@@RodrigoWerneck1 Autotune is a specific utility/plugin. He may not have used that one, but he absolutely used pitch correction technology to fix the vocals. But it’s expected… you’d be hard pressed to find any commercial album released these days that doesn’t use pitch correction. Even great singers have their voices run through pitch correction software
Saying "y'know" 10,000 times between every other word... very New jersey Also: FYI Steve Green Day and Weezer are not current rock bands, they were 30 years ago 🤣
Green Day are playing literal BASEBALL STADIUMS and Weezer play full size sports arenas you see on TV... hell, a good chunk of Weezer's current tour is sold out. try again, jackass
He is not a singer first and he will tell you that - he is a guitarist and songwriter. Second he has a unique singing voice that you will not hear anyone be able to copy - it's amazing. It's kind of right out of the 70's and incredibly signature to him as well. It's very special. We are so lucky to have original KISS members release new music and kill it; I hope we all can love that.
Some people sing and some are entertainers. A lot of big-time artists sound crazy when singing while walking down the street. The engineers and producers save them on records because they entertain and draw a crowd. That's why it's called the entertainment industry. Some people sing so beautifully but they could never get anyone to go see them live. They are not entertaining.
@@edwardblack9680 @edwardblack9680 Oh, it's excusable that he plays like a beginner, and the lyrics sound like they were written by a 9-year-old because, "it's a SOUND." I see. You know what, queefing into a saxophone is a sound. An alarm clock is a sound. That doesn't excuse lazy incompetence. The question is, is it GOOD sound? The answer is no. And Jimi was most certainly a good singer. To compare him with Ace is laughable.
You see that this guy Is telling the truth about some shitty ideias coming from Ace when you're aware that he/his fiance came with the title Constantly Cute. The most dumbass song title EVER
Right. Ace did nothing- except pretty much inspire an entire generation to pick up a guitar and start playing to begin with. There was probably only a handful of hard rock guitar players that did anything of note in the 80’s that didn’t sight Ace as a major influence. His solos on the first 7 Kiss studio records are impeccable, meticulously crafted, instantly memorable “songs within songs”. His heavy handed vibrato and attack sound like no one else, and while not a prolific writer during his Kiss days, songs like Cold Gin, Parasite, Strange Ways, Shock Me, Rocket Ride, Hard Times, and Save Your Love are some of Kiss’ very best. He’s also had a pretty successful solo career since he left Kiss and well before he met Steve Brown. So when you make statements like “So Ace still did nothing”, you sound, at best, pretty ignorant. :)
10000 Volts is a great Rock n Roll album Period. Punchy, great songs and best of the best Artist. Ace Frehley! A recording has allways been a cooperation with artist, band technicians /producer. And the artist and producer work together, and Ace nailed it! So great Album and Ace shoosed the right producer and Ace Shine on all of the songs on this mega great album. Love it! Real Rock n Roll.
So true my friend that show is NOTORIUS for being in the Gene and Paul Camp and always bashing Peter AND ACE. You know the old saying if you have nothing positive or good to say Keep It To Yourself!!!!!!
where id you get that information? You think Ace is selling more records than The Rolling Stones? The new Black Crowes? LMFAO Dirty Honey? Judas Priest? 🤣😂🤣😂
@@SharpCinema I think he is, two people including myself called out his wig was slipping off his head on one of his instagram posts...& Ace deleted all the wig comments immediately......
thats what i was thinking, so this is Steve Browns fault for Messing up Aces album, Thanks Dummy > Steve. 2 Good songs & 1 good instrumental. man this CD is just lame as hell. shitty short Guitar Solos. thats basically what ive mentioned in my Review of it.
Steve manifested excellence through Ace with a masterpiece album. The guy on the album cover is now 97 percent pissed off Steve told the truth. Ego’s destroy prosperity and abundance. Please get the man in the studio for one more great album before the spiritual tics get his ego soaring.
The lyrics on this record are some of the worst lyrics on any of his albums. It has a big production but most of the licks I don't believe he played or even able to play.
@@j.reveille6815 Ace cant play for shit anymore. With the exception of "Rocket Ride" on side 4 of KISS ALIVE 2, Ace didnt do a single solo ( or PLAY period) and nobody knew the fucking difference at the time.
No doubt it annoys you but I don't think that is a choice people make or something that can be changed. It's not like losing weight which anyone can achieve with hardwork and dedication... Just be glad you weren't born with a lisp. Honestly wouldn't it just be better to listen to something you like instead of taking the time to comment on how cringy it is? Why torture yourself unless you are a masochist? 😂
At the end of the day, 10,000 Volts isn't even going to go tin, let alone gold, so all the fuss Steve made over the writing of a record that will quickly be forgotten seems like an exercise in futility to me. He had his 15 minutes of fame with Trixter and that 1 stadium gig they had in NJ opening for The Scorpions, and that's it. It's like he's trying to re-light a flame that burned out ages ago, and the results are pathetic.
