Hard Rock? Heavy Metal? Rock 'n' Roll? Lemme see what fits - It's TGIF Choose Your Own Label! THE SONG - "Ace of Spades" by the English hard rock / heavy metal band Motörhead was written by the "classic line-up" members bassist / singer Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, guitarist "Fast Eddie Clarke, and drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. It is the first track, and title song, of the band's fourth studio album 'Ace of Spades'. Recording took place between Aug 4 and Sept 15, 1980 at Jackson's Studios in England. The singles was released on Oct 27, 1980 ahead of the album which was released on Nov 8, 1980. Although 'Ace of Spades' was Motörhead's fourth studio album, it was their debut album in the US market. Neither album nor single charted on Billboard. In the UK, the album peaked at #4. The single peaked at #15 in Nov 1980 on the UK Singles chart with 13 weeks on that chart. "Ace of Spades" is arguably Motörhead's most famous song. It's about gambling and risks. In Feb 2011, Lemmy told 'Mojo' magazine, "'Ace of Spades' is unbeatable, apparently, but I never knew it was such a good song. Writing it was just a word-exercise on gambling, all the clichés. I'm glad we got famous for that rather than for some turkey, but I sang 'the eight of spades' for two years and nobody noticed." In later years, Lemmy grew tired of the song but kept it in the band's set to please the fans. He was quoted as saying, "If I went to a Little Richard concert, I'd expect to hear "Long Tall Sally"". Most people consider Motörhead to be a heavy metal band. On Nov 28, 2010 Lemmy told 'The Independent', "We were not heavy metal. We were a rock 'n' roll band. Still are. Everyone always describes us as heavy metal even when I tell them otherwise." He told the German language 'Der Spiegel', in 2014, that he didn't really like heavy metal. Unfortunately, the three classic line-up members have passed away. Phil Taylor died on Nov 11, 2015, at the age of 61 due to liver failure. Lemmy died of cancer on December 28, 2015 at age 70. Eddie Clarke died of complications due to pneumonia on Jan 10, 2018, aged 67. Although "Ace of Spades" didn't chart in the US at initial release, renewed interest, following Lemmy's death, resulted in its entering Billboard's Top Rock Songs chart at #12 on Jan 16, 2016 for just one week. FUN FACTS - In June 2018, Sina posted, "Motörhead was my English teacher's favourite band." Lemmy's nickname is said to derive from "lend me" because he was always borrowing money. However, in December 2015, he told 'Vulture' that he didn't know where the name came from. Believe it or don't! :D PERSONAL NOTE - I've been regularly posting comments here for well over two years. They really only started to get lengthy and informative from about late 2017 when Rosanna got more involved in doing the research. She also developed some amazing social media contacts that resulted in interviews, quotes, and behind the scenes info from Sina, Mike, Rick and many of their collaborators. Those artists are the true stars of this channel and they have been extremely kind, helpful, and patient with Ro's endless questions. I've learned from them as much as you guys in the comment zone! Now, the thing is - in about a month, Ro starts college. She won't have as much free time or availability as she has now. Inevitably that will have some impact on our comments - they are just as much hers as mine, perhaps even more so. Only time will tell what that impact will be. Some comments may be brief or posted on Saturday. There may be times when there will be no comment at all. We'll do the best we can. Cheers!
Thanks so much to Juliet and Rosanna for this and all the previous comments. You did so much for me and I wish Rosanna nothing but the best for her studies!!
Sina, you're very welcome. Ro is out of town until Sunday with some friends but I know she'll be happy to see your kind words when she gets back. Cheers!
A happy TGIF to Rosanna and Juliet! I hope you won't be gone for too often, Rosanna. You will certainly be missed. Congratulations, Juliet, for a marvelous couple of years, and Congratulations, Ro, at this most exciting time in your academics!
This is awesome!! I just started watching her and the first video i watched was Fates Warning The Eleventh Hour. Not an easy cover to do. And that video was 9yrs ago. This girl is incredible!!
Phenomenal talent. I was such a preppy snob when I was a teenager and looked down my nose at this music and anyone who liked it. I was an unabashed Phil Collins guy. This music is still not my thing, but I didn't know SHIT at the time. Hats off to the Headbangers...you guys where right to appreciate the musicianship.
I know about Sina’s skills but still, this seems quite unbelievable! This is one her videos that I come back to every now and then, especially when I need some extra tempo for my drumming 😊
Sina, I'm 63 years old. I've never had drum lessons, but because my older brother was a drummer, I've always enjoyed them. I 've messed around on them for years. I've watched the great ones! You can hang with anyone! I enjoy your videos, and I think you're amazing! Keep going!! You rock!!
I'm blown away, not only because of your drumming skills- which are outstanding- but also for the fact that you've been playing old school Rock & Roll for some time now. You and your friends and many other young boys and girls are doing a great job by keeping real music alive. You have restored our faith in humanity. Thank you and keep going!!!!
Yes but not only...she looks much forward.... She plays so many other styles of musics as well. Her wide and huge touch of sensitivity is mesmerizing. Go and listen her own tracks, created and played with all her talented friends around her.
Wow... just Wow Sina! Now I believe there is nothing you can't play on the drums. I was not expecting you to play something like this and you were spot on. This is why you are my favorite drummer! Have a great weekend!
@@casaraku1 Success is a combination of effort , talent and hard work(and a little bit of luck). Her parents may have given her the talent , but Sina is working hard by herself , no one forced her.And that makes her stand out from the rest.
@@MrPavePaws be gentle...I am pretty sure that the 'his' is a language barrier flaw! We are united here as Sina's intl. follower fan base, but a lot of us, including Sina, are not native English speakers.
Unbelievably bloody awesome!!!!! ....... Philthy Phil (RIP) would be damn proud of this, Sina. And i think Mickey Dee would be applauding your talent, as well. This is one of your best efforts so far, The Queen of Drums rocks.... 👏👏👏
Die hab ich in Wacken gesehen und Du hältst alles am Leben..... so gut !!! Ich kann mir das immer wieder reinziehen und bekomme jedes Mal Gänsehaut! Danke Sina👍
Sina, this drum cover is astounding, tempo, energy, feeling:perfect. MOTORHEAD is one of my favorites bands. Lemmy, Phil Taylor and Fast Eddie are watching you and they say :this young girl is the best way to make us happy and alive. French fan(of MOTORHEAD and SINA).

Sina with the hair flying around and working those arms, hands and wrists hard on this classic. It's always a pleasure to see her covers, she has the sound foundation and loves her work and it really shows!
i to am speechless, all the intensity and talent required to lay this down, and to see your joy at playing this song for Lemmy, you are a truly amazing musician Sina, please keep it up for those of us who (like Lemmy ) are on our way out. We can definitely rest in peace knowing that you carry the torch of rock and roll drums, thank you so much.
Punch, drive, and swing, loudness and dynamic volume range - good Motörhead drumming needs a good measure of all of these, plus getting the balance right. You got it all!
I was referring to Sina's comment in the notes about this being a tribute to "Lemmy's Motorhead" - I'm sure Phil Taylor (RIP) would have loved this amazing cover 🤘
@@salbuda6957 Thank you Sal, if I would never have read Ms. Morris's comment, I would not have realized that 'g man tramp' was the troll that he was! I have since deleted my very nice, informative comments that I directed toward him in regards to Sina's music career! The thing I like about being on Patreon is that we don't have to deal with these type of people! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
@@rodneywalker6147 Why does everything go through Lemmy?? He,s not the Drummer. NEVER WAS!!! This Vid should be about PHILTHY!!!. I'm hardly a troll. I saw Motorhead back in 1979 .. You people just don't get it...
I remember hearing this song so long ago and wondering how the drummer could keep up this fast pace and now seeing this performance blows my mind. Excellent!
Sina played the drums like her heart and soul was on fire! Three people would be proud of her: Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister (bass and vocals), Eddie Clarke (guitar), and Phil “Philtht Animal” Taylor (drums), known to all their friends as Motörhead. They were jamming in the hereafter, and keeping in time with Sina. She rocks!
This is a great drum performance ... Show this to your friends and tell them this is one example of why Sina is your favorite drummer..... This and dozens of other examples.... History is in the making...
@@martinweidner5863 Nonsense they were an equal unit No Philthy No Fast Eddie. No Motorhead period. To everyone who mentioned Lemmy without mentioning Philthy on a Motorhead Drum cover Vid.. Fuckin shame on The lotta ya 🤘🤘
Hi Sina, after watching this performance and others, I am convinced that you literally become one with the song your performing! No kidding, you are no longer just a drummer but the combined spirits of all the drummers that have gone before you!!! Your dexterity along with your muscle memory and dedication to music just blow my mind!!I've listened to quite a few of your works over the last few months and each and every one of them can only be classified as brilliant works of pure art!!! All I can say is I wish you all the success in the world sweetheart "YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST!!!!" "LOVE YA" and "YOUR SKILLS"!!!!
