if you are wonderin' , aspire is actually a gaming laptop and has a "Gaming" option in the setting, but the cooling systems are pretty loud, i never upgraded it but now i saw this vid and know what was inside the laptop cus my mom will never let me open the intestines, i got highly convinced to upgrade than just to buy a whole new laptop. or i can just upgrade, give it to my brother and teach him how to use it, and buy new laptop i guess.
I'm totally new to switching hard drives, if you migrate the files to the ssd, does windows work instantly? Without an installation Progress? And is the windows License saved somewere else on the Motherboard, so you dont need to reactivate?
Correct if you use the transfer program, it makes an exact image and places it on the ssd, Since you are only replacing the hdd and not the motherboard the license is still good!! Thanks for watching!
You can use data migration to go from a larger to a smaller hard drive. Cloning the destination drive must be equal or larger. Samsung make this an easy process with their free software.
this has been a big help with finding a new laptop. I wanted something for both gaming and application. thanks man, definitely will share this vid in twitter keep it up
bro...I have same laptop. I want to ask you that... In front, at the left corner side there is a empty space like slot...is that a slot or what? It looks like some kind of a slot...if it is a slot...then what its use? Because I want to add external graphics card to it..can I do that? I have watched some videos where they removed their wifi card and attached another one to add new graphics card. So I'm confused Do I need to do the same procedure. Or that slot will help to avoid removing the wifi card step...I'm curious about that slot..plz help
Good Day!I am planning to change my laptop (same as this model) with a samsung 850 evo ssd...But my laptop has an actual cd rom in it and when I try to take it apart (took all the screws off) Im afraid I'd break the cd rom..Is there a separate screw for the cd rom or I just have to eject it before i remove all the screws and take it apart? What should I do..Very helpful vid btw..Keep it
It's 2020, almost 2021, and my notebook is still good after almost 5 years that i have buyed. My Acer i5 6200U i put an 120gb SSD, Just for office. I Will put another 4gb, to stay with 8gb. And i think that he Will be só damn good for a log time.
Hi. First, very good video. Second, I have an Acer ASpire E15-573G from year now and as you said the starting is pretty slow. So let me see if I understand, you copy all the data from your laptop to the SSD and then change the HDD with the SSD. The thing is that I have 434GB used in my HDD, so can I pass everything that I have installed from my laptop to portable HDD (games, files, etc.) to do a copy of the system to the SSD, and then install at the HDD of the laptop the files that i copied so they can be at the HDD that would become the second memory?
Ok sooo you have to make sure that your SSD drive has the same[used space] or more.than the drive you're copying it from, this is the easiest and best way to ensure the your programs will run without reinstalling your software again.
I plan on getting the new model, with the m.2 slot ssd, and the separate hdd slot so I can keep my drive and reuse my old hdd. AND of course a second sick of RAM.
Justs a heads up to those watching this, you do not need the external DVD drive for the Samsung software. It can be downloaded for free off the Samsung website.
Thanks for the awesome demo. I just purchased a Aspire E5-575G-55KK for $449, it is a Newegg exclusive. It has a 7th Gen i5(2,5GHz), dedicated GeForce 940MX, 1TB HDD, and 8GB DDR4 ram. This video was the deciding factor for me. I wanted to know how easy it would be to upgrade to a SDD, and you made it look like a piece of cake. I do have some questions though. What form factor was the SSD that you installed? It looked like a standard 2.5'. And what is the specific model number of that HDD caddy you installed? Thanks
You're to be congratulated, excellent work. I'm from Brazil and I have an acer from the i7 version, so I'll have to send it to assist because it seems that the bios of the video card does not work or it's badly soldered! :/
Was about to buy the Acer Aspire E15 574G which is $589.95 in amazon. Good thing I found a link in your description to the Aspire E15 575G which is only $549.99 and it already has a 250GB SDD and an optical drive. Thanks man!
great video, thanks do you think I can use the 1tb drive as secondary drive on a acer aspire e5-573g-35zp? if so is that slot available also for a DVD r/w? and finally, could you share the name of the plug n' play device to connect the HD? (i can't understand in the video). thanks and keep up the good work
I'm pretty sure you use the slot for a secondary HDD on the 35ZP, as far as connecting a dvd drive might want to talk to acer about what model drive your need. SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD/HDD amzn.to/2ltsogr . $11.95 Thank you for watching!!!
It is said that a fresh install is better than doing a copy of old os to hdd. Is there a considerable speed bump if you do a fresh install of os to a ssd directly, instead of doing an os transition from hdd to ssd?
Hey, great video. If you still have this laptop, could you please tell me how it is working nowadays? I've found a really inexpensive one which looks almost new and I'm planning to buy it. Thank you very much for your time
Hi, great video, but there isn't much detail on how to get the computer to read the new SSD drive? you just turn it on and viola ? I just got the SSD and will be cloning over my current windows 10 hard drive. this seems too easy...? hahaha
I took the plunge and purchased this laptop about a month and a half ago and I have to say so far it's been great with both playing my games and casual use. Although, the startup time (and it seems like the more I use it, the longer the startup time becomes) can become quite annoying. Thanks a lot for this informative video as upgrading to an SSD truly is what this laptop needs.
Thankyou for this in-depth review and installation guidance. #HappySubscriber. I'm planning to buy the i7 model of the E15. It comes with an optical drive, which i intend removing. My question is - can i put a 1TB Samsung 850 SSD in the caddy? will it work with the pre-installed 256GB SSD by Acer? I intend to have a Windows & Ubuntu dual boot. I have heard, we should not make partitions on an SSD, is it? Would need your expert advice on my concerns.
hi I am new to computers so I really dont know anything and I am getting this laptop for college. So I am planning on buying a extra 8gb card and a 1tb ssd. Could you do a step by step guide on how to do this for me. Thank you
If you're not comfortable with opening your laptop, you may want to have a professional do it, but you can see how easy it is just make sure you take your time and follow this video. Not hard at all to install the 8gigs of ram/ssd hard drive.
I know two years have passed since you posted this video but. My E5 has a 1TB drive but only 172GB used. Will this be a problem migrating data to a 250GB SSHD with the Samsung EVO software that comes with the new drive or will I need a 1TB SSHD? Again, only 172GB used on my existing 1TB drive. Thanks for all of your instructional videos>
This was a great video. Very informative and easily understood. But I have one question. Will the caddy work in the new acer e 15 model? I plan on getting it and adding another 8gb stick and a 500gb hdd via caddy. Thanks in advance!
hey, thank you for the video! do you know the speed of the slot for the optical drive? is it only SATA I? (i don't mean the speed that the caddy supports, but the speed of the slot/connector that is on the motherboard)
So with this pc i can keep my old hdd and also add the new ssd? Will this improve my games performance? What do i need to do the instalation (extra cables, etc)? Thanks!
Is it too hard for companies to put access doors with one screw to access and remove the hard drive like in the old days? Were all those screws at least the same size? On my HP from 2013 its so much worse having to remove most of the bottom screws then go in from the top taking the keyboard dvd drive and palm rest off and in the process having to remove about 4 ribbon cables
TechFit360 hey this is dray from Jamaica I have a Acer aspire E5-573-395q bt one morning I woke up an it's nt working .....its nt even charging no light coming on to indicate any power so I kno it's much more than a black screen what do you think
Does the HDD become slow on DVD Rom slot? I was thinking of upgrading, but I don't see any point if the only thing it does is faster windows boot and the few programs running fast and slowing down the rest that stays in the HDD.
I feel you, the main reason I think most invest in an SSD is because of the boot up speed, running apps faster, and transferring files quicker. In my line of work it's a necessity for me. But at the end of the day the SSD and HDD do the same thing, one just does it faster! Thanks for watching!!
Hey could someone answer this question please? I’m new to computers and I want to upgrade my ssd. I have this same exact laptop, exact black, but I’m wondering why I should downgrade my ssd from one terabyte to 250 gigs. I don’t get it.
Ok the TB drive that it comes with is not a SSD its a standard drive. SSD is a much faster drive. So by making the 250SSD your boot drive, your Windows will be crazy fast and use the 1TB for storage and other program installs. Hope this helps!
Hi. Great vid, very informative. I have an Acer E15, it is an E5-551-TMK. I have ordered and SSD - Samsung 850EVO. Do you know whether the procedure to swap the drive will be the same as for the laptop that you are using in this video? I have searched for the hard drive caddy that you use in this video but can not fnd it. Are you able to provide a link please? Oh, what is "hot swapping"? Keep posting quality vids!!
Can my Acer Aspire E15 E5-574G's RAM upgrade from 4GB DDR3L to 16GB? I ask for the answer is because I am going to record game play and I upgraded it into 8GB,but I found up that it isn't enough RAM for me while I am recording.
Hi Tech, thanks a lot and it is a great video. I replaced the 1T hdd with 500 ssd and hook the hdd up at the empty bay. It boots really fast. But, I cannot find the hdd from File Explorer. Why? One more issue, I found one extra screw after I put everything back together. Can you please help me? Thanks.
Eric go to disk management, and see if it's there. Unfortunately it's impossible for me to tell you where a screw is missing. Just have to recheck every place for a hole. that's missing a screw! Trust me I've been there!!
do you think I could use the upgrade for 3-D modeling in AUTOCAD? I am budgeting for a laptop below $700 as I student but not sure what way to go. my main aim is to use the laptop for AUTOCAD in my Civil Engineering program.
this is what i think of acer not supportive i buy this laptop and i have been using acer for a while and i was like ok i need a new laptop for school so i buy a acer laptop acer aspire es1-111m-c40s the track pad dosent always work the keyboard sometimes work so i called support and they told me i am in the bahamas so they cant help me when i can just ship it to the us i am not sure if i wanna stick to acer all they could have done was ship the new one and if the new one was the same i would send it back and get my money back really upset with acer so if someone ask if they should buy an acer you should know what my answer would be the support sucks no help and i still have the half operating computer
Nice video man. I have an Acer Aspire E 15 but it's a different build (E5-522G-8874) and I'm wondering if everything you used will work on my laptop. Cheers!
before you purchased this, did you figure out what the difference is between aspire's E-5 model and their E-15, obviously there must be a difference otherwise it would all be same number,im trying to figure out what is the difference, googling did not help nor did aspire's tech suppor which is a FOR PAY customer service call center..unless you have purchased a laptop already, there is no such thing as free customer service with this company...I kid you not.
Hello I have the new acer e15 575 33 bm i3 7th gen I want to do the same thing but Im not very experienced in this. If I purchase a m. 2 ssd can I install it on my laptop plus leave the 1tb hdd still installed in its current place on the pc & use it strictly as storage. My goal is to install the new SSD & move the OS windows 10 etc to it & just keep the hdd where its installed & use it as mentioned just storage for pics/vids etc? Im completely clueless to all of this I don't know if or how to do a migration if its required or if my pc will do it on its own plug in play? Thanks for any & all help! Ps I did manage to upgrade ram & that went well at least.. Thank you
nice video mr. TechFit360. i have a question, if i use a SSD as my primary, will i loose the recovery of the laptop that is saved in HDD? sorry for my Bad english. because when you change the primary, does the application that comes with the SSD CD copy the recovery from the HHD or just copy the personal files?
Hello bro! just need a confirmation about data migration. Will the Windows file and OS will be migrated also? this is from HDD to SSD. So when I boot the computer, it will boot from the SSD? I'm quite new to modifying :) Your guides are awesome bro!
You Da Best, It suddenly make me interested on it....Good Job! Never knew it before, But now i just can't wait to buy 1. I'll take The Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SATA internal SSD. What do you think? Does it fit on Aspire E15 573G?
We have the same laptop, acer power my man. btw if you need any help with installing anything, i have completely taken the whole laptop apart and put it back together and know it by hand. Just let me know if you have any problems and need some words.
It goes smoothly! I just can't believe it, never know about this before, but now I'm totally crazy about this SSD... Love it BTW thanks. I'll tell you if I have any problem..

Seriously Locked, Did you try and hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds, also if it goes to windows can you just do a shutdown? that's a serious problem, You can let the battery die down itself, or you would have to take the bottom cover off like i did in this video and disconnect the battery But i would let it die down by itself and send it back for a replacement!
It is posible to change te CPU from a E15 575? I've got one and some days ago I come across de idea Is it posible to replace it with a better one? Right now it has a core i3 6100u But I checked out and the i7 6600u uses the same socket and also the same power consumption, so I would like to know if it's posible
What thickness measure does the caddy have for the hard disk that is placed in place DVD reader? In the market I am offered 3/8in (9.5mm) or 1/2in (12.7mm). Regards
Hi i just got the aspire E5-575G last weekend and it come with 256gb ssd is it okay if I want install another 256gb ssd? And wts is the difference between m2 ssd and ssd? Really appreciate it
Yes you can! Did it come with a DVD drive? First check your computer documentation to find out if is supports M.2-- These SSDs can plug directly to the MB, they resemble a memory stick. It's faster than your standard SSD & SATA drives. Thank you for watching.
Hi I have acer f15, with windows 10, my problem is disk 100% usage and it slow all disk prosecc. I have try bunch of things like disable search in win 10
What I've noticed with Game is that they boot much faster, but as far as game play not a significant difference. But when giving the option I always will choose an SSD because it has other advantages like less heat, faster load time, etc. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Hi sir I need your help. My laptop (same model) is experiencing grinding sounds whenever i tilt it. The sound is coming from the bottom left near the fan. In your video, I see that the hard drive is on the right side. Is it possible that my hard drive is on the left side where the sound is coming from? I hate to think that it might be the COD. thank you more power!
Hey TechFit360, I have a quick question. Would we just be able to put the SSD in the universal caddy, wipe windows 10 and reinstall windows onto the SSD in the caddy?
I have reinstalled windows 10 pro and the boot time and overall loading is quite slow. Does the SSD upgrade make it useable (the boot times and program load times are so slow). I’m not sure why the computer is so slow from the factory
Hi Dan, great videos on this lappy and all the other videos, you really are legit, keep it that way and there's no telling where your brand can go!! ok quick question... im in Ghana, West Africa. My cousin is getting me this laptop(THNAK GOD for your review, great job!) and an extra 8gb ram plus a 240gb ssd... i'll keep the 1tb as a secondary storage. my budget is totally done for, i cant buy the external dvd, is there another way i can get a new windows 10 image, put it on the ssd and run it as my boot drive. i want to get all the bloatware off... plus im not getting that cable from the ssd to the laptop either... 😱😱😱😱HELP!!!!
I appreciate that man, thanks for your support. You can download the data transfer utility to your hard drive, here is the link www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools.html if you're not going to buy the usb to data cable, you may be able to just temporary put the ssd as your secondary drive, and run the utility and see if that works.
cool!! thanks a lot sir! but if i do so with the ssd as secondary, wont it affect the system since the widows file on the hdd will be erased... i read from a couple answers you gave on here that the data migration does a copy of the windows on the hdd to the sdd. So lets say i run it and then put the sdd as primary... how will the original copy be erased ? and when i boot up will the laptop by default choose the primary as boot drive ?
Great video! I did not understand the part of replacing where is the DVD for the second HDD caddy? how did you disarm it? and another doubt.. the laptop has a dvd box? why did you used an external dvd reader for the data migration? thanks in advanced.
Hello! How does the ssd work? I do build in the card in my laptop and then I save on the ssd the softwares I want to run through? And, can I keep my hdd card for memory capacity?
Dan you are the man, I was looking at upgrading to SSD for a while now and after watching your video I didn't realsie how simple it was. You are a diamond mate, thanks.
is the battery replaceable? I have never seen a battery that can only be accessed by removing the back panel. I am thinking about picking up this laptop for school. Thanks!
I'm thinking that's the only downside to this Laptop, having to open the Laptop up, just to replace the battery. Yes it is replaceable! Thanks for watching!
Just bought this unit for university, did not come with Nvidia GPU, just bog standard intel HD 520 Graphics, but for $450 AUD still a bargain. Taking your advice to upgrade to SSD and the RAM once it arrives. Cheers from down under.
Go to device manager and look at display adapters, you should see two (intel520 & nvidia 940m) When you play games, or demanding programs you will be able to choose the NVIDIA Graphics Adapter. On the tool bar, lower right side there is an NVIDIA icon click and you can change the preferred video adapter from intel to NVIDIA. Basically it's on auto detect which i would leave it on so you are not always using the Nvidia processor for basic apps. I hope this helps.
i have a feeling most of it was the arrow keys on the keyboard and the bad touch pad placement where a good bit of it though have fun man hope to see you getting more subs your videos are well constructed
Is there a follow up video for partitioning the hard drives? I'm curious to see how that "caddy" actually works. I would assume you'd have to enable something in the BIOS, since the laptop originally didn't come with an optical drive. Yes? Also, how does the extra caddy affect cooling within the laptop? Should I use an external laptop fan if I go this route? Thumbs up & Subscribed! Thanks!
I have an Acer Aspire V3-575-50TD, and purchased the Samsung 250GB SSD today along with the hard drive caddy and USB cable. Planning to do the upgrade this weekend along with upgrading the RAM to 16GB. Hoping for a seamless upgrade with no surprises. Planning to migrate the data to the SSD drive then swap my current drive for the SSD and reuse the old drive in the optical drive bay. Did you have any issues at all with it recognizing and booting from the SSD drive? Also any issues at all with it seeing your old drive as a secondary?
