This is a Guide how to fix an acer laptop that says „no bootable device“ acer laptop fix ( no operating system found ). The Battery is or was in a deep discharged state. So it could not hold the bios settings and reset from legacy mode to default uefi mode. Cmos settings wrong. Cmos Reset. Model: Acer Travelmate B117

You may have to disable secure boot, to then get an option to select legacy mode.

I put it to legacy and now i cant get into my laptop, it says no bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key

If changing from uefi to legacy does not help detect the drive there is a chance it is faulty, Or the security screw of the drive can get loose sometimes. Resetting the bios to optimised defaults could also help.

It is of course possible that the drive itself is corrupted.

The Travelmate B117 does not have cursor/ mouse support in the bios...

Defektiv Harddrive or disconnected. Sometimes the secure screws get lose and the m.2 drive slips out of the fpc connection.

depends on the harddrive that is installed, you mean until you see the windows/linux logo?

Possible that the harddrive itself is the issue.

If the battery in these new machines get to low the bios will be reset, default setting is with activated uefi mode. Linux mint OS was in Legacy Mode installed. So you have to manually set the bios back to legacy mode. :)
