If you are looking for more power then actually the Helios 300 beats the triton 500 ( rtx 2060 version ), get if you are willing to thinness and better battery life ( not a huge difference tho )

@@kavinsuresh5468 In case you didn't watch the video, the bigger battery on the Triton doesn't actually do anything, it gets more battery life in gaming, but really, how often will you be gaming without being plugged in? All you get with the Triton is a slightly thinner chasis, Thunderbolt and... that's it. You also get an inverted motherboard, so have fun uograding or trying to fix any hardware issues yourself. I pereonally wouldn't recommend it.

@Geo Tech News All in all I am very happy. I only tested one game so far, Devil May Cry 5 on high settings, on average I got 110 fps while gaming. Only 2 things I want to warn you about: 1) The fans can be noisy even during non demanding tasks, such as watching a video 2) The sound from the speakers is really really poor. They are place on the front bottom, which means that by placing it on any surface (a table, a bed and so on) will result in muffled sound. I am forced to use an external speaker. My 5-year old Asus laptop with B&O certified speakers is miles ahead.

Also because of him I bought the helios 300 right when it was available in my country, Philippines. Tho I compared a lot of this video, and it's one of his that made up my mind. I never thought i could buy it in my country as at the time it is like 1 or 2 months being reviewed by reviewers here

Did both act that way? if so that's strange, the two I've tested didn't experience that at all.

@@JarrodsTech Yes both, Well I guess it could be because i've got a EU version with 1TB of Storage. The noise comes from the MB (SSD Slots), the Network Chip and the GPU. I'm not joking. Even my GF could hear it. (She owns a XPS 15 from '18 and got no coil whine at all)

The coil whine shouldn’t be very audible. I had to stick my ears to the keyboard to hear it

Fun fact: if you were looking for the triton rtx 2060 version then don't worry, the Helios beats it in performance and thermals due to bigger chassis and factory overclocking/undervolting

I had the opportunity to use both of them. Triton rtx 2060 (1978 CA$) & helios 300(1442 CA$). Triton looks great & had Thunderbolt 3, other than that there is not much difference performance wise or battery life. So I decided to save 530 CA$. :D

@@chayseferrier3793 ooh didn't get a noti. It's still an amazing laptop because it can run any game you throw at it and you'll still be able to play comfortably. And I still get surprised to this day how all of this power can be packed in a laptop. One thing though. This laptop has pretty good cooling (so temps will be 60s-80s depending on the settings you play on) but the thermal limit for the CPU is 75C. That's the biggest downside of this laptop. Unlike the intel variants, the amd version throttles at 75 from 3.2ghz to 1.98 ghz. It's not that big of a deal since it keeps the temps low but you will lose a LOT of fps in cpu demanding games like fortnite. I also recommend you to upgrade to 16 gb dual channel as the ryzen apu is ram hungry. And you'll need to optimize the laptop quite a bit because I find that stock windows settings are very stuttery in games. And one last thing. Since its a budget laptop, everything is made of plastic and can be broken pretty easily. I've NEVER taken this laptop out of my house (like to a library in a bag) and it's always been on my table. I only open and close the lid twice a day but the screen hinge still managed to break. (and that's mainly because its made of cheap material). So now I have to be very careful opening and closing the laptop screen but it still manages to stay upright. Other than that, if you're not going to take this anywhere and you're not expecting esport level performance (even though it can manage to get 130 fps in fortnite and around 144 in csgo), this laptop is great for you. ok im done my essay thanks for reading

jayadithya nalajala in terms of editing videos, yeah the fans do turn on and make noise. Though it’s quieter than when gaming, there’s still fan noise, but it’s not annoyingly loud. As for web surfing, youtube videos, Microsoft office, and other less demanding tasks, fans run at bit of a higher rpm, but noise is barely noticeable.

How are the speakers? I heard people saying the sound gets fuzzy because of the speakers being on the bottom Is it true?

Titles that are CPU heavy such as Far Cry 5, AC : Odyssey will run significantly better on the i7 9750h. And even in non CPU heavy titles you can expect a 5% increase in FPS.

No plans unfortunately, after all this time I've still never been sent a 9300H laptop so I can't do the video fairly.

I guess it's what you use it for. I use mine for more than just gaming so it's handy to have that HDD in there. I don't game unless I'm plugged in so I don't see an issue with battery life

Since it has 2 nvme slots and 1tb SSD out of the box (at least mine configuration), larger battery would be far better choice and i is pretty much the only thing I would change on this laptop. You can always use external HDD if you run out of that 1tb (most people wont) if you are desperate and not willing to buy second ssd. Like seriously, who would use HDD nowadays when ssd is so much faster and relative cheap.

Out of the box I'd expect the Helios to perform better, as turbo mode overclocks it and it's undervolted, but you can of course do these things yourself to the GP65, so it will probably perform similarly afterwards. It's hard for me to say differences in terms of things like thermals and battery life though, as I've never had a GL65 to test.

Thanks! Honestly I can't recall the difference in fan noise as I didn't use them side by side, so you'd be able to check by reviewing my videos on both. I'd go for the mag 15 if you want to spend more money to get the bigger battery, Thunderbolt, mech keyboard and SD card slot. I also can't recall thermal differences at this point, but yeah again you can refer to my full reviews of either and compare results as I've done the same testing.

What I have found by seeing the reviews and replies on Reddit, is that Y540 during normal circumstances or daily usage (non-gaming), the fan is not that loud, plus the aesthetics make it a better choice for me. Regarding, the Triton500, I have seen the reviews on Amazon, that it has screen blackout issues. Though I like Triton500, the reason being its semi-gaming design i.e. its between the Y540 (casual) and Helios300 (gaming) look. But that blackout issue is serious for me.

So, how is it after one month of use?

@@eurovlad I have had it since May last year and its great. I do tend to put the fans at max whenever I play for extended periods just to be on the safe side as the processor can get really hot even with the now stock 0.10 undervolt. I wear sound isolating ear phones so the noise doesn't bother me. It stays reasonably cool with peaks of 96 degrees celsius while 'average' is around the mid eighties when playing titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 at max settings. The GPU doesn't much break a sweat when using max fan. Cooling just seems to work really well for such a thin light laptop.

I'll see what I can do, but won't be til I get back from CES mid January at a minimum, so definitely don't wait on me if it's on sale.

Asus tuf fx505dt is similar price/specs to nitro 5 but with a 120hz screen.

Well, mine nitro 5 515-54 has 144hz :)

In my region the Nitro 5 comes with a 144Hz display. Also, there's an option for an 8th gen i5 with a GTX1650 and 120Hz display which is $200 cheaper than the 9th gen one. :)

Hmmmm not sure about that, haven't tried myself, possibly with a software solution, not sure if there is a hardware raid controller, you'd have to check BIOS options.

I thought I fixed it in editing, guess not. Metric is correct, based on what Acer provides on their website. The rest is my own conversion using Google, so mistakes get made.

I would expect Helios to perform better, however I have not had both with same specs to fairly compare. Helios has a more aggressive undervolt, higher CPU power limit as it's slightly thicker so more cooling allows them to give it a higher power limit.

That's because it bypasses Optimus. HDMI is connected directly to the Nvidia GPU, but the laptop screen needs to send the signal from the Nvidia GPU through the Intel iGPU first.

The GU502? I don't think so, they told me they don't sell it in my country so aren't able to lend me one :(

Could be, does yours have the undervolt? On my first one I had it didn't come with it til I updated bios/predator sense software. Also if you sleep/hibernate the undervolt will remove until reboot

Depends on the software, some don't make use of the GPU, either way like 8-14% boost with the 2060 depending on the app so comes down to if you want to pay that.
