Good to know. I recently upgraded from a Helios 300 to this Triton 500, and your Helios 300 videos were extremely helpful. Glad to know you'll be doing some for the Triton 500.
How is this while docked? Can it be used reliably while shut? I plan on cooling it externally when home. I'm having a hard time choosing between: Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-51-71VV (upgraded with RAM and Storage of choice assuming I can upgrade it) or GIGABYTE AERO 15-X9-9RT5 (upgraded with RAM and Storage) Id save a couple hundred $, have a nicer keyboard configuration, plus potentially better cooling if I went with the Acer... Assuming the laptop isn't horribly throttled.
Rishang Prashnani none that I was able to see in game, I didn’t check any tools to verify. When I had it I never noticed any slow down or throttling and never needed to let it cool down so to speak. It played everything I wanted it to at relatively high specs with no issues.
* redator Triton 500 * legion Y740 * Asus ROG Strix Scar II * MSI GE63 8SE Raider * Dell Alienware M17 Which RTX Laptop will be best you think for value of money....
Just bought this recently. Runs everything so well! Gta 5 on highest settings with no issue. Also star wars fallen order and assassins creed. Gets a bit loud sometimes and kinda hot but hey, thats a lot of power packed into a slim build.
Can someone tell me (PLEASE) How long will this laptop last? And how long will it last if you maintain it properly... Becuase I'm looking forward to buying this and I still need to ask questions about this and researches to be 100% sure.
Android Modz 69 It a new laptop so nobody really has the answer to that but I do know this laptop has fantastic thermals which is always good for lifespan. Acer has a deal on until September 1st where you get an extended 3 yr warranty for free and a backpack and mouse 👍🏻 I LOVE this laptop
Enter bios by pressing F2 while the PC is booting, go to a setting under Main called "POST Animation & Sound" and select disable. Remember to "Save & Exit."
coool, i say i watched like 10 reviews i think , thanks to PCWorld i did found a best suitable laptop for my need, for Unit3d Programming and Java consultancy work great!
Hell everyone! As owner i have to say, that Acer series Predator is great, rock solid and amazing performance gaming laptop:) Have 2 of that "bad boys" 1 with gtx 1080, second with 1060 and its absolutely georgeous! :)
@@amjadsalem8414 Hello! No negatives, both work after a year of use like a champ, no thermalthrottling or another issues... RTX 2060 is a great choice, a little slower then 2070 maxq...its a good choice, watch another video about 2060 on Jarrod'sTech, hardware unboxed etc, regards.
@@amjadsalem8414 I have the Triton 700 with a GTX 1080, I can confirm its a beast of a laptop. The only negative is that it gets suuuuper hot. like 90-95 F under heavy load. Undervolting has helped a bit, but still gets up to around 80 F.
@@pcworld Ah shame. I guess the main things that would make me pick this over the GS65 is if it's about the same dimensions (not just thickness, I can't seem to find other dimensions online), if the 2060 performs better than the 1070 max-q of the GS65 (as these are the most comparable in price) and if the battery life is acceptable. Thanks for the video btw, it's really useful.
@@pcworld Thanks I really appreciate the info. It's such a tough call as the 2060 MSI is almost £200 more than the Triton here in the UK, plus you only get a 256GB SSD (so stingy at this price point, come on MSI), but I really do want a thin and light laptop as I travel a lot.
I got mine about a month ago but I had to get it repaired because ups didn’t know how to handle my computer and messed up the battery but it’s a great computer if I do say so myself
I want to buy Triton 500 from 2080, but I read reviews on Amazon and now I'm afraid that he will have problems with the GPU. Does your laptop have no such problems? They write that he dies on the 2nd or 3rd day.
I use my laptop for my job as a content creator, not just gaming. Problem with this is that I can't imagine it being a good thing to have a laptop branded with "PREDATOR" in any kind of public setting. It's a shame because this otherwise pretty nice.
The Predator branding will cost them sales. Same with the ROG eye that ASUS plasters all over their equipment. MSI and Gigabyte learned, muted logos, no gaming aesthetic.
@@Durfit yeah those Aero gigabyte laptops look the shizzle, but the ROG Zepherus M look pretty 'non gamery' in the flesh, they could definitely loose the EYE though.
I find it funny they call it the MAX POWER 2060 when the mobile 2060 can't even match the mobile 1070. Bear in mind the desktop 2060 is so good it's on par with a desktop 1070ti and it easily beats a desktop 1070. The 20 series has taken a far larger hit in its transition to mobile than the 10 series before it.
@@pcworld HAH, OMG Adam, that is so funny, and yet it makes total sense now. I have known Gordon for a long time now, i sent him a demo system back in 2002 or so (FedEx totally destroyed it on the return route) so the "DAD" which is actually "BAD" got me thinking.....when did Gordon have kids??? I wold love to chat but i don't have Gordon's new number, if he feels like catching up, let him know i am trying to get in touch, i really want to tell him what the problem was with that massive system i ended up building for myself, he will get a good laugh out of what ended up being the bit problem....aside from Windows constantly overwriting the correct Intel drivers with "Certified Microsoft" drivers. EMAIL ME, I'm at Yahoo.com, Thanks Adam ;) and great job running the podcast
We live in hope bro. Sleek styling, no red accents and other plastic crap addition, minimal if no RGB. They could market it as productivity laptop as well as for gaming. Business at the front, party at the back.
@@dolphin069 100% agree. But keep the RGB with natural white backlighting. Meaning natural white lit but still solid white classic windows font without faded fonts. Like Lenovo Legion
Picked up Asus Rog M Zepherus GM501 for 1300 bucks, ticks all the styling boxes, very sleek, and business looking. It's the 1060 version, 144hz IPS. Seems to fit the bill perfectly. Don't require it to run 2019 AAA at high refresh rates, mainly for work but with the option playing some quality FPS hooked up to the hotel room TV.
just shell out to a "DOS" and then type: powercfg /batteryreport. Then in the same Window type "battery-report.html" note the dash there. It'll give you a summary of the battery. You can also get it from HWINFO but this is built in and easy and also will tell you about the cycles it's been through.
Given that the 9th Gen mobile CPUs are about to drop, I really cannot see the point of buying this 8750H/2060 laptop over a similarly specced runout 8750H/1070 model and save some money. Granted you miss out on RTX/DLSS but gen 1.0 ray tracing is not really ready for prime time yet anyway so I don't think that it is a great loss at this point in time.
@@maciejgada740 Intel has not said what its roadmap is for future iterations of Thunderbolt are but I imagine it may push forward with newer features and more performance. Or maybe it'll just say, yeah, we've achieved what we wanted to and stop. I don't know and I don't think anyone else outside does either. Things are still fluid but: USB4 adopts Thunderbolt 3 protocols but it is NOT mandatory that a vendor have all USB4 ports (Type C obviously) with Thunderbolt 3 "legacy" (my words) support. Probably yes (based on device platform). Mandatory? No.
This was just an unbox and quick test. This is not the full review. Battery life is decent though as you'd expect for 80 Whr, Optimus laptop for video playback and comparable to other laptops (slightly better). In GPU heavy , CPU heavy, expect normal results as well (which means 1 to 1.5 hours of battery life.)
I would rather just stick with the triton 700.. im sorry but even with the specs, the 700 is so much better than this lol.. this is like going backwards tbh
@@aravindr4986 how is it so far??? I'm stuck between 2 choices. MSI gl63 with 1660ti for 1600 euros or 1750 for scar 3 2060. The msi has 120hz monitor but a far better sRGB and adobeRGB coverage. I'm buying the laptop to edit photos and play gamed and development. Scar 3 also comes with 9th gen i7, msi with 8th gen. But I'm concerned about temps on scar 3, so that the 1660ti on msi may perform better. And the display for my editing work. Which one do you think i should buy? I'll also have a hard time discussing with my dad to get the 1750 euro one, so yeah >.< I do want less trouble
@@aravindr4986 so basically it's a great laptop the main drawback (which is admittedly a 'me' problem" is that Destiny 2 runs terribly on it and has required no small amount of effort on my part to get it to acceptable playability. As far as the more objective cons: 1)Finger-Print-MAGNET, - it's not even a minor issue. I spend time after every other use wiping it off. That's the inside and the outside 2)Its a dramatic improvement over the previous predator series in weight and size, while this is - and I cannot stress this enough - incredibly portable machine it's still a bit heavier than if prefer for a thin and 'light' laptop. However that's also probably subjective to preference. 3)it does get very hot to the touch underneath which from my understanding is to be expected with this size and space restriction. It does cool down fairly well though and as far as the temps inside they are well within reasonable given the high performance it provides. 4) upgrading the internals is going to be a headache for the uninitiated as they are under the keyboard not u der the body 5)minor complaint- the light up logo on the lid is a little much for me but overall the the design is relatively tame in comparison to the old one Despite everything above its definitely a great laptop and I would reccomend it.
@@aravindr4986 So after about a 2-3 hour gaming session I Closed the app and went to the Predator control center the temps listed were : 81 degrees CPU / 63 degrees GPU / 69 degrees system - all in Celcius of course. As far as the noise, the fans are acceptable while playing I'd say moderate to quiet.
