Hey guys in the review i said that Radeon Vega graphics in this laptop is superior than Geforce MX250, well that's not entirely true. During my test, i found it to more efficient than MX250 but on paper, MX250 is better than Radeon Vega 6. Sorry about the confusion. Apologies, won't happen again 🙏
Then I'm going for the 2019(available at 48.5k now) version, as I'm not at all wanting to wait. the 2020 version is 25% more money, without any big upgrades. But my doubt is, will this (2019 laptop) be able to hold for 4-5 years? My work will mostly be multimedia consumption, MS Office work and sometimes casual gaming (like GTA V) and video editing. I'm going to buy it today itself. Please reply soon.

Sagar Roy it depends on wht you mean by better ! 🙄 Intel is still a power hog, on a good design Intel will always be hotter and won’t last as much as AMD will on the same capacity battery! Yes mx 250 is better in some games ! Do you care? Mx 250 is still not powerfull !

So I have been using this laptop for ten days now. The speaker outright sucks. If you have a fan running in your room or someone speaking you can't hear enough to make sense of videos you watch. Display for me is good enough for casual use. Touch pad feels good too. Two problems that I encountered with this laptop are first the trackpad seems not precisely fit, it is not equally up from all corners, the bottom left corner seems a little sunk in. It doesn't get in the way though. Secondly I bought the additional warranty while purchasing the laptop. So far my experience with customer care is lukewarm. First they told me I will have to register warranty within 1 week of purchase. But I didn't recieve any codes or links to proceed on. I have contacted them four times and now the status is that I will recieve it within 20 days of purchase. Let's see how it's going to go. I have seen troubled people on acer community with bad experiences so do check them out. I won't say that customer service is bad per se, they respond well, just their solution delivery is very slow. Also, I didn't recieve the laptop bag or mcafee virus support. Just norton subscription for one month. So don't take that for granted. I am happy with the laptop. It's beautiful, slim, and with good keyboard and battery life. My concerns you have already read. I wish things were smoother since I spent a month on research and 60 k on this laptop, with some more money for extended warranty. Writing from India.
Believe me, the screen is not that bad - infact I keep it at minimum brightness. Infact the non-upgradable RAM of 8GB is a disadvantage. It should have been upgradable.A
Dear all, I purchased Acer laptop Acer swift 3, model SF313-52-53QN on 7th Aug 2020 and with a month time screen of laptop started showing line on it (manufacturing and quality issue). On dated 16/10/2020 submitted laptop in Acer service center with ticket no.- 3713160I. Since then I repeatedly contacting Acer's customer care and mailing to Acer officials but nobody is sharing any concrete date for repair. Delay in repair of laptop has affected my online study since last one month. Brand like Acer should understand for students problem and also focus to improve their after sales service.

Not sure about the Mi Notebook as far as pricing goes, but I'd imagine that the Lenovo Flex 5 would be cheaper. If that's true, I'd say get the Flex 5 hands down. Ryzen 5 4500U and 16Gbs of Ram is amazing for $600. Good luck with finding the right laptop, I'm about to be a college student and bought the Flex 5 and love it!!
Thanks for the nice review! We just got the AMD 4700U (U.S.) version of the Swift 3 as a "college laptop" and haven't found the brightness of the display to be any problem. It is plenty bright for most indoor environments and the overall performance (with 8 CPU cores) is excellent! The fingerprint reader works well and is a nice touch (no pun intended) and the lighted keyboard always makes it easy to see. The build quality is great too, so we'd recommend it for basic web browsing, video conferencing, video viewing, and office apps any day! (It was also $200 cheaper than the "dual core" laptop the college bookstore was selling. Is that a joke in 2020? Not sure where they got those from, wasn't that CPU technology about 20 years ago)?

Processor wise and for future proofing go for ryzen one. Out of the two 2019 models one has a very good display do check which one is that. The numbers tell that it has display brightness of over 280 and sRGB coverage of 99%. Make sure you look for correct model number. The ryzen laptop doesn't have a bad display I would say. I am someone coming from an i3 processor and a tn panel display. So if you have worked extremely good displays you might find this one not good enough.

I current laptop is acer aspire, which is 7 years old. I always wanted to get another acer but was quite tempted by mi notebook. But now after watching this, I might go for this. Only gripe is I have only heard of intel. Is this processor equivalent to I5 10 gen and graphics equal to mx250? What do you suggest?
Ryzen 5 is much better than core i5 10th gen but the graphics card story is little different. On paper MX250 is powerful but in my real world tests i found Vega more powerful.

Bought this, loving it so far. If anyone's thinking about buying this laptop, go for it. The display is average but everything else is top notch. Got it for 62k. A bit high but i don't regret it. Also does anyone know if this has USB c charging ? There seems to be no user manual for this laptop.

Don't understand what the brand gets by restricting RAM upgradability? It's also not cost cutting. Second sRGB color gamut less than less than 70-80% & 250nits brightness are the more deal breakers. Nice and precise review though.

The only problem I found out on this laptop is the bad sound quality of it when connected to an external speaker system. It has a so called DTS Audio processing app pre installed. But it makes things worse. When I use the equilizer, the sound goes down considerably and fluctuates the volume between bass heavy and non bass heavy parts in an audio file. All other aspects (Screen, battery life, Gaming performance) are excellent on this laptop for this price. If anyone has a solution to the above mentioned problem, please be kind to reply me back. Eagerly waiting for more AMD ryzen 4000 series laptops. There plenty options in US but in india it is takes quite a time to launch. I have heard the HP envy x360 AMD 4000 series is awesome. But it is not launched in INDIA yet. Similarly for the lenovo flexpad 5 AMD 4000 series. Giving a very tough challenge to INTEL both in terms of pricing and performance.

This model is much better in heat management than its Intel brother. But one downside is that there is no dedicated GPU on the AMD version. So if you are doing casual gaming or occasional vid editing then you are better off with Intel 10th Gen.

Lenovo is better as it has a better display and after sales is sorted. For your need, you can go for Lenovo ideapad but make sure to opt for a variant with 16 gigs of RAM. It will easily last you for 4-5 years.

Hi Varun, thank you for your amazing review on this laptop, I’m convoluted choosing between this one and the Lenovo idadpad S540 with the 10th gen core i5 processor. I will basically use the laptop for working on excel, data visualizations, coding, media consumption and a bit of gaming(Excluding Triple A titles). I’m inclined towards the idapad just because in future it’s RAM can be upgraded. What’s your take on it? Can you suggest any other alternative, keeping battery life as first priority. Thanks! :)
My take would be go for Acer Swift 3. Ryzen is better suited for multi tasking capabilities which you will obviously partake. Also it does not get super hot. Just check with Acer if they are launching the same variant in 16GB in India. If they are then its better to wait out. If you are in desperate need for a machine then you can go for Ideapad s540.
I jus received my asus vivobook m4331 with the same processor and upto 72%sRGB but I am really disappointed with the display. I am thinking of returning this one and get me a acer swift 3 jus because of asus really bad dsplay as acer has an IPS panel when compared to a TN panel in asus. Any suggestions bro?
Are you sure the type C port only supports 15W PD? It'll be too weak for a laptop and won't even charge under moderate load. It should be PD 3.0 which supports 65W.
Hi Varun, great review! Although I would love its comparison with Asus Zenbook UM431DA Ryzen 3700. Also please do some comparisons between laptops in similar price range and run some speed tests. Also explain the difference between the performance hierarchy of Ryzen processors. It is easy for Intel but for ryzen, only God knows Ryzen 7 3700 is better or Ryzen 5 4500/4700 is better.

What do you suggest between Acer Swift 3 Ryzen 5 4500u and Acer Aspire 7 i5 9300H+GTX 1650? Swift 3 seems to be more lightweight and sleek but doesn't have RAM upgrade option.

1) Nope, RAM is not expandable 2) No thunderbolt support sadly. But on i5 version there is thunderbolt support. 3) You can go for Acer swift 3 i5 2020 version. Really solid laptop.
Yes its cheaper than Intel, AMD has its prs and cons but for light tasks and day-to-day usage AMD is amazing! Colours shift issue is there but its not that prominent.
