No one guy teaching golf has all the answers. GG teaches what he knows. Some guys take to it some don't. There are many ways to get it done. I know guys who have terrible golf swings but have single-digit handicaps. I use a more rotational golf swing and it works for me. I don't totally swing like this. I have more of a blend of body and arms but I know my swing and what works. For example, no matter what I do, I can't get the sit down move. So I don't use it. I make sure I stay centered and rotate through the shot. I use a lot of his concepts but not all. I concentrate on posture, grip, and alignment. Make a solid backswing, when I transition I keep my back to the target a split second longer. This thought works for me. I never hear GG talk about that. It's a feeling. I also see on the video I do most of what he says just with one simple thought. The rest shows up on its own. Too many people looking for some magic bullet that no one guy has and never will.
What works and why in cooperation with your personal "mechanics of instinct". You are right there is not one swing for everyone but there is one and only one unique swing for each individual. It is the swing your instinctive brain, whose main job is keeping you safe, will cooperate with. Only when this part of your brain feels safe does it switch intentions to power and finesse. This is the so called "zone".
@@mudddge And yet you walk and swing your arms in your personal rhythm to maintain balance the same way every day without conscious thought. Walking is probably the last thing you learned instinctively and you can thank God for that.
I'm a huge fan of GG Swing Tips, I think I've watched every RU-vid video he has multiple times, but this video - it finally clicked how the legs "feel" during pivot transition. The plate under the right foot was the visual I needed to connect the dots. Love GG and this video is a great starting point to understand this pivot and rotation move. Keep up the great work.
Michael Mitchell dude, same for me. He needs include that plate drill in more of his videos. It explains the leg work so well. As soon as I tried it, it was like everything else made sense all of a sudden. It really teaches you how to grip the ground.
This is one of the best videos on youtube. I've been watching it along with many others for the past 2 months as I am converting my golf swing to the Gankas philosophy, and I learn something new each and every time I watch this after progressing.
John Powell I don’t know why he doesn’t do that drill more on his RU-vid channel. That drill was the “ah ha” moment for me. All of a sudden the leg work made total sense.
No doubt no one teaches the way this man does i stuck with it almost giving up glad i didnt i gained 10 mph in literally like a week practicing the movements never hit the ball better once you understand
When you and your buddy do 10 lines of cocaine each and go on tv and try to explain the lower body movement in golf you get this lol. Absolutely. Absolutely!!!!
First thought: Who the f- - k would ever really be able to take this lesson and apply it to a swing. What a mess! ...then after taking it to the range and spending an hour watching it and applying it step by step to my swing... Second thought: George Gankas might just be the savant genius golf prodigy teacher of the century. Holy moly! Crisp iron shots, like I’ve never experienced before (golfing for 20 years). For the first time ever, I can actually feel I’m engaging my legs in the swing. The sliding pad on the floor is genius. And I’m still working on 3/4 shots and very easy full shots. All I can say is that when I get the timing nailed down for full power-full shots I can tell they’ll be crazy good. Wow!
Idk if you guys watched the video but he got on his knees to help the other instructor. What costs more, nice golf pants or these sweats? What's easier to clean? Come on now children. You want to play better golf or not?
if you play golf and do not make this move youll never be consistent. its difficult to do in one sweeping motion but if you practice this enough before you know it , it we be ingrained in your swing and youll realize this is the way to playing great effortless golf. sternum over the ball, quiet arms and compression of the ball.
@@arjanpetersen Everybody is entitled to their own perspective on this. Basically I see a lot of similarities. What people call the Snead squat has a lot of cross over with GG's lower body work.
I have studied in person with both Kelvin and George and they are very different although they seek to achieve similar goals at impact. Kelvin and GG are both da mans
Having a rt hip replacement next month. Left hip is also bad. Handicap at 4 (age 70) but my swing is limited due to both hips (shortened follow through/extennsion and much lower swing speed @90). Will your method put too much stress on the left hip?
These two have great chemistry. But G should at least buy the other dude a drink first before gettin his mitts all up in his toolshed ;) serious tho you gotta love gg's instruction he is a true yoda to any golf nerd
No slippers=good G.G. Methods proven?=yes !! Is he hitting the big time and should change the way he is ? And how he dresses? No way who cares, just No Slippers on national tv ever dog, promise? Lol Best of luck G. U deserve it
Virtually impossible for a normal person to execute all of these moves in the sequence taught. That is NOT to say that talented golfers will not benefit from GG's teaching which obviously has positively effected many careers.
it dont work mate.too many bull shit golf coaching out there side bend so on n so forth are moveu have to make to get the club on plan. its not a natural movement of a human body. u really want to now hw to swing natural just watch mike austin & mike dunaway.
That swing isn't any more "natural". That swing generates speed(mainly because the type of release) but doesn't make you a great golfer. Gankas has several students on tour and how many PGA pros use Austin's swing?
Let me get that straight: You are suggesting to change from an oily weight shift pivot (Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus, Watson, Norman, Couples, Rory, Tiger...) that won billions of dollars to this and they get you 1500 an hour. This is brilliant man! :-)
Mathew Wolff, Padraig Harrington, Adam Scott, Viktor Hovland (among other professionals), and about 1500 leading golf instructors nationwide who voted him the 11th best teacher in America, would all disagree with you.
Sure they can. I'm 55 and swing like this. There are two retired NHL players at my club. Both in their late sixties and early seventies and they can pound the ball, still. They work no their games and stay in decent shape. The problem with most guys my age is that they do not stay in shape. Three-fourths of the guys my age that I know have done nothing since there early 20's but eat crappy food, drink too much beer and lie on the couch. Then they show up at the golf course on Saturday and still think they can play after spending the week doing the above. I understand back backs or injury's as you age. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the self-induced physical issues that half the population could avoid if they had any kind of motivation. There is also a guy in his 80's who still spends 10 hours a week on the range, working, still on his game. I admire that guy. He doesn't hit the ball super far but he can still drive it 220 or 230 and has a good swing. Also, most guys my age never work on their games. Again, they show up at the course, pound 15 drivers with no warm-up and get in their cart and go to the first tee. Then they bitch the whole round, eat a hot dog at the turn, chase the beer cart around half the day and wonder why they suck. It really isn't as complicated as they make it sound. They are teaching nerds. Take the club to the top. Rotate through the shot. Most of the things they describe happen naturally. They are just breaking it down. I don't think about any of this during a swing or round of golf.
@@arjanpetersen I find most seniors 70 or over are health conscious. The worst guys are between 45 and 60. They are still young enough to be stupid. Once they have 100 health issues they will smarten up. Look at John Daley. He has nobody to blame but himself. Now he walks around begging for a cart because he abused his body for 30 years and can't walk.
I think the opposite. Como was his consultant. He is the reason Tiger's swing is so clean now. He doesnt teach GG swing style. He is very open minded and believes in sharing information. His swing and teaching is very different from this.
GG is dead on and it's not a new concept. The goal is to hit the ball with your body (correct and proper rotation) and not your arms. Some may get it done in other ways and there's nothing wrong with that.
