I'm a 65 year old male at week 9.5. Boot off week 8...I did all my normal stuff with the boot to week 8. riding lawn mower. working as a mechanic.riding my sur ron electric bike. Now at week 9.5 almost walking normal but not quite. Went to the river yest walking on rocks stones etc. I won't be stretching it till next week or so. Never slept with boot and always protected the tendon...My tendon is tight and will need stretching big time but I want it to heal well before I get into that.. Not going to any physical therapy as I can handle it myself. oh non op....Thanks for sharing your story...

I put this question on week 9, but thought you might not see it. so here it is again: These Videos have been extreemly helpful to me, I am in week 2, get my cast off next week. Question? You said in week 3 that your tendon had not healed correctly, and it was to late for surgery, that the tendon might heal to long because of to much scar tissue. In all the other videos you never mentioned whether this was a problem later? Did the Dr. tell you on week 3 it was to late for surgery? How is your healing today? Again, you have answered so many questions I had about this. My only fear is I wanted surgery because I am active, but they said because I was 65 I should do the Non Op I asked if they ever had it not work and my Dr. said no. He said it can Re Rupture but it will always heal itself with the Cast, boot and proper therapy.
@PushUpDad
@PushUpDad Год назад
I have healed well. At 16 months now. Yes, the doc did say it was too late as things already started healing. They said they would need to clear out scar tissue and undo any healing to join it up. Anyway, the correct strength training and physio will help healing correctly.

Hi, Thanks for your sharing. 10mm and 22mm gaps were noted when I did the ultrasound 3 weeks ago but the doctor still suggested me not to do the surgery due to those infection issues. I got some questions about your recovery. Thanks! 1.did you regret you did not do the surgery? 2. how long did you leg look normal? I mean not swollen anymore. Mine is still pretty swollen in week 4. 3. you still had 22mm gap in week 8-9? how did you solve that problem? 4. how is your leg now? is there a huge difference compared to before the injury? can you do exercise normally?
@PushUpDad
@PushUpDad 11 дней назад
Thanks for your comments. 1 - No, I do not regret it - Lots of people I ahve spoken to that had surgery had infections or ruptures as well and then more surgery. their scares look terrible. however, there are a few that look fine and healed fine. But, I feel good I did not have it. 2 - It started to look more normal around week 10-ish. 3 - Once I started physio, the work done was slow and gradual to help with the healing and then the strengthening. 4 - My leg is fine now. Sometimes I feel some tightness. But that is maybe once a month, if that. I did not continue with strength training due to some personal issues etc. So, my leg still looks smaller. But, I am able to walk and run and do things I used to do. I ahve not yet tried playing football again as I do not think I am ready and strong enough due to the lack of strength exercises. But, I ahve recently started going to gym again and building up my leg. So, one day I will try play again.

I’m 4 weeks into a re rupture (4.5 months after original rupture). My re rupture is above my previous rupture. I’m 45 years old. Have 1 doctors I really like who is supportive of non operative this time around. 2 other surgeons have told me to get a tendon replacement surgery but I feel I can’t trust them as they spend know time with me and just said get surgery. Current Dr is meeting with me every 2 weeks to monitor progress. Welcome your thoughts/advice

Thank you!! Were you able to get back to single leg calf raises? And how long after? I’m almost 4 months in now and feel like I’m still a ways away. PT gal said to worry about it and give it some time but that’s easier said than done.

How long did it take you to be back to normal? I had surgery, after two weeks I was walking without a boot. Sadly, I got an infection. Which meant I went back in for another operation, exactly the same thing to remove the speedbridge. I’m now four weeks on from the second operation. Walking about again, finally getting heel to ball of foot connection. I’m still told no PT until the wound has healed. I swear I’ve had the worst luck.

Probably a year to not notice I was just doing everyday normal stuff. Not thinking twice about climbing stairs, walking to the shops etc. I have not tried full on sports as I am still hesitant in case. I can't risk going through it all again.

Thanks for your fantastic video's. Would you mind telling me: at what week did you start physical therapy, and then what week did you stop wearing the boot. I'm in the US and my Dr wants to have me in a cast or boot for 12 weeks before any therapy. I'm at week 8 now. My rupture was nothing spectacular, the usual with a 2.1CM gap. Thanks for your help.

Hello. I'm week 12 non op. I still feel some pain about a 4 out of 10 when I walk. How long did it take for your pain to go away as you walk?
@PushUpDad
@PushUpDad 4 месяца назад
It took me a while. It also depends how long I walk for and how long my step is. It has been a long time since my tear and I feel fine walking now. If I do more than 15,000 steps a day for 3-4 days in a row, then my heel hurts and bit and it feels a bit tight just above my heel under my calf. But, I am able to walk just fine. No pain. If I try run, then the first few strides I feel it pulling / cramping. I then slow it down and carry on, then it seems fine.

hi, im on my 8th week non op, am in a boot still. you mentioned in your other videos that you have healed your tendon long, im just wondering if you are engaging in any sport activity? if yes, are you able to perform said activity without issue (except for probably decreased strength)? reason why i asked is i am worried that i may have mine healing long as well though there is no gap where it ruptured and i would still like to return to sport if possible. thank you in advance
@PushUpDad

I have healed to the same stretch as my left leg. So, both are the same. I injured my back when strengthening my achilles and have not been back to training it. I have tried to jog, but it cramps right away. It is not strong enough, so, I'm starting to strengthen it again.
