What is the typical timeline from day of injury? Days rest, days/weeks strengthening and finally reincorporating normal activities again?
@basecampclinic

Impossible to say for sure. Huge range from 7 days to 12 months. In general the earlier you address it, the less likely it is to turn into a chronic problem Most cases I see are 2-4 months

Do you think athletic tape help with Achilles tendonitis? maybe in terms of increasing our capacity and help with reducing the load/demand?
@basecampclinic

Preventing or treating? We use it sometimes for symptom relief, but it won't help with prevention. I also prefer either a very stiff tape (leukotape) to limit range of motion or kinesiology tape to modify symptoms, over regular white athletic tape. If you are using leukotape though, most of the time you are better off choosing a shoes with a larger drop or a heel lift for your shoe to offlead the tendon

I have a spur on back of heel.. Played high level lacrosse my whole life and dealt with the pain coming and going.. a few times debilitating mid season.. now 46 yrs old... was playing fine still.. still higher level.. took a weird step back during a game and swore I tore my Achilles at the insertion point.. MRI revealed no tears according to docs.. but 3 months later, still trying to play and its excruciating .. some games I make it 15 minutes in.. other game 2 minutes in, and Im almost sidelined or running altered steps.. no clue what to do.. I do not want surgery yet to take out the Haglunds or spur.. as its very invasive...

Tough one. Haglands is a common incidental finding (present in asymptomatic people) and the spur was definitely there before that lacrosse game. A few possibilities: 1) the radiologists missed a partial tear on the MRI. 2) the injury aggravated the insertion point, which can be VERY painful with recurring pain, without having any damage. 3) there is nerve irritation masking as Achilles pain, which needs to be treated differently. If it was my Achilles, I would find a good rehab chiro near me and spend some serious time rehabbing ti before returning to play

Dude, you can't keep playing with an achilles issue, you have to give it rest and rebuild the strength. You need to listen to your body.

My tendinopathy begin when I started walking after my hysterectomy last August. Can certain operations cause injuries?
@basecampclinic
@basecampclinic 2 месяца назад
Hysterectomy can cause changes in hormone balance, which can change the tendon!

@@basecampclinic thank you for responding. I have always been active, and I almost wish I would not have chosen to have a hysterectomy with this AT pain. Do you know how I can rebalance my hormones??
@basecampclinic
@basecampclinic 2 месяца назад
@@lynngevity3724 you will need a good medical doctor or naturopath to work with! They can order blood work and help guide you through that process. It may not be an issue, but it is worth investigating
